    I am 55 years old and I totally switched my skincare to natural with Helena Lane and my makeup to Pure Anada. I also use tallow bar soap and I use castor oil. My skin has totally changed for the better. I spent hundreds of dollars on so many skincare products and no noticeable results but with my natural skincare within 3 months my skin looks amazing. Enjoy your videos.

      My skincare is pretty simple. I wash my face with tallow soap in the am. I use Helena Lane face mist followed by Consonant vitamin c and licorice serum and I use Helena Lane pomegranate and lemon face oil.
      Evening routine is wash face with tallow soap, face mist, vitamin c serum and then I use light amount of castor oil all over my face and under my eyes.

    Holistic is the key word, so thank you. I am fully open minded and I tried anything when it comes to skincare. I came into the conclusion that my skin may like or not like a product regardless of natural or synthetic ingredients. For example, recently I LOVED clinique eye cream as well as Potion Organic bright serum. The second is natural, the first not. It's just about creating our own routine listening to our own skin I guess.

    I just recently started following your channel and I'm really glad I discovered you! I've also been wanting to test out the Three Ships Beauty line for awhile, but I have been hesitant for some reason. I really do a lot of research on skincare because if I'm going to spend a lot of money on products, I really want them to work, and not a lot of people talk about them! Their whole mission is really appealing to me and I've been more drawn lately to want to incorporate more natural based products into my routine. Because of your videos and insight into the brand, I just made my first purchase of their discovery kit and the bio-retinol dream team kit! Thank you so much for helping me to just go ahead and try them out!! Looking forward to watching more of your videos :)

    You're the one that got me on Bakuchiol. I had tried it previously but was expecting fast results and now I just regularly use it lol. I was using Paula's Choice but I was wanting to try a more cost effective option. I think the one I got from Naturium has that ingredient in it.

    I hear in recent studies that many over-the-counter skin care regimens have high levels of benzene, a cancer-causing chemical. Can you do a video on your views of how acne treatment product(s) containing benzoyl peroxide may be harmful?

    • @db-gb5xi
      @db-gb5xi 3 місяці тому +4

      Several derms and Lab Muffin have done shorts saying to take this story with a grain of salt. It's the same lab that sounded the alarm about benzene re: sunscreen, dry shampoo, etc. This lab has been called out on bad research and including the high temperatures they used to test benzoyl peroxide and isn't something that people who use them subject them to. A couple of derms have said, if you are concerned, stop using the products you have for the time being.

    • @DallasNatureLover
      @DallasNatureLover 3 місяці тому +3

      Lab Muffin, a PhD chemist recently did a TikTok video explaining why that paper that claimed benzoyl peroxide can decay to benzene when heated over 100 degrees for 17 days is not reliable. I’m seeing some dermatologists online also explaining how that paper is not useful.
      Here are the highlights: 1- that paper has not been peer reviewed 2- the lab that did the experiment is not well regarded as in the past it has produced poor quality work 3- the people behind that paper are evidently interested in selling an alternative to benzoyl peroxide.
      Self magazine has an excellent article online “That Study Anout Benzene In Acne Products Has Some serious Flaws.”

    Agree 💯 - I prefer the lab synthesized skincare products because there is less risk of them having ingredients that might irritate my skin. Chemicals made by plants and animals are no better than chemicals synthesized in labs.

    I’ve been using Admire My Skin Bakuchiol Serum Natural Retinol Serum Alternative for Face - Anti Blemish Anti Aging Facial Serum Contains Organic Aloe + Turmeric (taken from the Amazon listing) ever since you introduced me to bakuchiol. I am curious if you have ever tried it and what you think of it if so as it touts having 15% bakuchiol along with turmeric and aloe? I purchased it after you recommending at least one with 2%. Your feedback would be most appreciated and thank you for all of the great content each week.

    I just noticed the Three Ships products in the Whole Foods I was in this week. Do you have an opinion on the Paula's Choice 25% Vit C (THD) + Glutathione serum?

    • @DallasNatureLover
      @DallasNatureLover 3 місяці тому +1

      The Budget Dermatologist has done a number of videos on vitamin c serums.

    • @db-gb5xi
      @db-gb5xi 3 місяці тому +1

      I realize that but she's definitely expressed a preference, as far as vit c derivaties go, for THD. The PC product is fairly recent and doesn't seem to have a lot of reviews (I've seen Dr. Alexis Stephens video). And people seem interested in glutathione (I've seen more products with that ingredient recently as well).@@DallasNatureLover

    Natural to me means home made skin care. Is home made skin care effective?

    • @db-gb5xi
      @db-gb5xi 3 місяці тому +2

      A lot of derms don't recommend DIY. I've seen Dr. Idriss and Dr Dray do videos on rice water. Dr Dray has also talked about making an oatmeal mask but that's with an Aveeno product. Dr. Idriss makes a rose water/glycerin mist that she uses.

    • @DallasNatureLover
      @DallasNatureLover 3 місяці тому +4

      Doctors recommend people buy drugstore skincare products if they want to save money, but not make their own products. To make a skincare product you need to have a background in chemistry so that you know what ingredients to use and the best proportions.
      Some ingredients only work if they are in products with certain Ph so that is a factor in formulating them. Then there are “penetration agents - ingredients included to help the active ingredients penetrate to the depth of skin at which they are most effective. Then you need the proper equipment to through,y blend the ingredients together so that any amount you re,i’ve from the container has all the important ingredients in it in the correct amounts.
      Finally, products need preservatives to prevent bacteria and fungi from growing in them.

    • @db-gb5xi
      @db-gb5xi 3 місяці тому +3

      Which also calls to mind vit c powders (the ordinary). Several derms have said absolutely not. Unless you're a chemist/pharmacist, you can possibly irritate your skin that way.
