    The only solution is to completely ban scrap copper sales, what the thugs get for the stolen copper is peanuts compared to what it costs to replace the cables. What will it cost to replace the stolen railway cables, just think about it? The government has to ban it.

    • @psylentrage
      @psylentrage 23 дні тому

      Can't ban copper scrap. You have no clue, do you? It's a RECYCLABLE product, like all most metals. Japan has one of the largest recycle industries for precious metals that are again used in new electronics and consumer goods.

    • @nelsonchinasamy9857
      @nelsonchinasamy9857 23 дні тому

      @@psylentrage what do you mean I don't have a clue? Use your thinker please. Copper theft is the problem because it is causing serious damage to the countries infrastructure and is costing the country billions to replace but the stolen copper is sold for a pittance. Other scrap metals are not such a serious problem, just copper is. We cannot compare with the Japanese, they don't go around destroying their countries infrastructure to steal copper. Well we have to do something, if banning is not the solution then law enforcement must be more strict and heavier sentences for the culprits.

      @@psylentrageI have more clue than you, do you even know the pennies Copper scrap is sold for in relation to what it costs you and me as taxpayers and ordinary households to replace it. I say pennies because in relation to the billions we have to spend it is so. Those bastards sell it for R50 to R 100, just an example and it cost the householder R 2000., does that sound OK to you? Are you one of the buyers by the way.?

    We would phone the police while the guys are stealing. They would come and “arrest” them, drive a view blocks and release them again. Not an hour, and they will be back doing exactly the same thing. Then there will be no police vans or cars available.

    Law Enforcement is hopeless. We have an area that has been allocated to burn cable.....we can't do anything about it..... SAPS and Law Enforcement drive pass..if you phone they give a reference number only to close it an hour later. We have fires going everyday.....The scrapyard operate 24/7....and it's allowed.

    Could you consider solar lighting solutions for the higher masts to reduce the need for cabling? Also consider adding anti climbing spikes to reduce the theft risk. Keep up the positive interventions.

    How can we report it??? When they do it at the night 2am and 4 am coz your law enforcement police never works during the night. There are no patrol cars at night. And they dig where the ground is soft ... .......The best thing is too cement where they lay the cables.. many of the cable in mitchells plain are under the concrete
    floors and impossible to dig out. But those electric poles wire are just half a metre under sand. They just use spades ... So tar or cement the middle island where the wires are running. Thanks
