- Several people have been arrested in Ekurhuleni where officials are conducting an inspection at a steel company to ensure compliance with labour regulations. The inspection follows a tip-off on alleged violations. Newzroom Afrika's Nqobile Madlala has more.
Tune into Newzroom Afrika DStv channel 405 for more.

Factory work is mostly general labour which can never be a scarce skill.
@@nomfunekonosilela3895 we must cancel the exemption permits as well. We can create half a million legitimate jobs for South Africans just by canceling those "temporary" exemption permits.

After 30 years and we must feel so proud of their so called raid 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
We now have people in charge of Home Affairs who actually care for our people!
really ???
@Newzroom Africa: is it possible to enquire from the police if they're also verifying if there aren't any wanted criminals on these raided sites? It would be more efficient to just look for rapists, GBH culprits and anyone on the SAPS wanted list. Seeing that everyone is inconvenienced and standing idle- SAPS might as well net others for other crimes. Your reporter and crew must just put on helmets and safety boots for such sites. Imagine if someone were to throw something from up there😮
…..guess once they’re processed things will start coming up….forensics must up their game….maybe even bring technologies (morpho touch) to scan their prints right there on the premises….
This will improve the dire unemployment rate in SA.
They don't wanna listen, take them to Lindela - the whole lot, including the owners who see no wrong in South Africans being excluded and sidelined then blame the government for the high unemployment rate.
So many young South Africans with a matric or university certificate are at home while illegal immigrants are working

Arrest the damn Employers now.
Thanks you GNU
I still say, former Labour minister must be arrested .He contributed 100% to all this issues that we are facing and South Africans have been complaining with no luck.
The country has a 34% unemployment rate. Its absolutely disgusting how employers are violating the countries laws and worsening our unemployment rate. Terrible
The employers also need to be arrested & pay fines.
What is more important is the border and home Office
LABOUR DEPARTMENT IS EQUALLY IMPORTANT, THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO CHECK IF BUSINESSES COMOPLY. A HOTLINE TO REPORT EMPLOYERS SHOULD BE MADE AVAILABLE.
You guys are misleading the people, those people have not been arrested yet, they are being detained for further investigation into their status in the country. Educate yourself on these processes, please
Quite interesting. Arrested where? Prisons got no place😂😂😂

Unemployment rate won't change still government must open companies for it's people
Please check 60 60 scooters, e-hailing services
Good Job, these operations need to be intensified. Reserve all non-skill jobs for South Africans.
There must be no foreigners working as security guards, cleaners, gardeners, cooks, waiters, farmwork, domestics, petrol attendants, cashier's, merchandisers , receptionists, call centres etc...Add more
South Africa has got too much jobs but were given to foreigners, companies must hire South Africans then economy will grow because South Africans are paying tax
Amalgam...all factories..china mall..foreign security guards..at the gates with big guns ..where they obtained their licence😮😮
Ja, eish. This is a very bad year to be an employer who hires undocumented foreigners to exploit them. The Labour and Home Affairs Departments are not out to laugh with anybody these days. Even though this could also possibly be just for PR and not for really, sincerely addressing the challenges faced by the ordinary South Africans who are affected by unemployment on account of local business owners who overlook them.
Do these employers comply to Home Affairs law,. When you, as employer, employ skilled foreigners, you need to seek approval from Home Affairs.. When do that you as the employer should say why you need them.. The question then is, for how long do you as the employer need their skills... If it is for 3 year period, will their have understudy students to transfer the skills you as employer need from the South African employees in your company.. That's how it works, if you want to employ foreign nationals....
Some of these SABC anchors are very concerned about Safricans following proper procedures to arrest illegal foreigners.
And, they show very little concern about the damage that is being perpetrated against our economy, our society and especially
our fellow Safricans.
What happened to investors have to employer 60% South Africans. We cannot have the ANC govern this country again as a majority.

South Africa will have to be very careful in how they conduct these raids. I fully understand why, but they took Israel to court, cutting off these people, which has much of the same implications, they can ALSO be taken to the same court.
