  • There are guides to changing the drain pump on a bosch dishwasher. This is a better guide as it shows tips on how to remove and install the drain pump cover as well as tips on getting to the drain pump and info on reinstallation We need those tips as many UA-cam videos make it look too easy and you make errors when you follow a lack of instruction..

    Dreaded E-25 error for weeks….Almost replaced the stupid machine ($1,500 installed), but I really like my Boshe….I decided to order the $30 part from Amazon (free shipping vs. Boshe website)and do it myself. I swore quite a few times and almost gave up because I didn’t pull the unit out and this guy is correct, it was so tight to replace the pump. Anyway, I used more might than delivering a baby, and it worked! For a woman and single parent, trying to save $1,500, I feel like I can fix anything, as long as I have great UA-cam videos like this one. 👏👏Thank you from San Fran, CA, USA…
    By the way, I did have a repairman out, who typically charges $180, but he said he couldn’t fix it and left/no charge….I got no reply when I told him I fixed it myself! 😅. You can do it ladies, with a power drill and watching this great video. Woot-Woot! ❤

      Update: dishwasher worked fine 2-3 times then E-24 popped up again. 😡
      I remembered from your video that if the little white filter cover was not placed correctly, the code would return. Again, I stuck my head down there and sure enough, the little cover was not pressed in enough. I tucked him into bed but didn’t hear any click but noticed as I was returning the main filter back into place, the circle of the main filter caught and loosened the stem of the white impeller cover!
      So my head went back in, flashlight, and more force was placed to put both cover and filter carefully back into place, slowly.
      I believe in plucking out that cover stem so many times to check it, I probably bent the stem a little, causing this issue.
      Ran the machine on short cycle; no codes! Time will tell.
      Tell your wife your video has valuable world-wide status and saved people like me lots of cash I don’t have. Can wait to run the machine again…

    South Australia, Ive had the same d/w, coming up 14 years, 3 months, Love it. Used at least 11 times per week. Several years ago I had problems with error codes, and it involved the little white thing. Managed to sort it out. Ive only had a tech out once, I believe it was the wash pump and this was replaced at $400 about 5 years ago. Daughter has a later model, she also had problems with gunk around the white thing, removed gunk and replaced. Excellent video, so clear, no mumbling.

    E24 or E25 can also be caused by 1) discharge hose not elevated a couple of feet behind washer before going to drain or 2) white plastic shield in front of impeller is not firmly “clicked” into place

    • @Dentinvent
      @Dentinvent  11 місяців тому

    At 5:03 that L-shaped white bar is easily removed, it snaps out at the top. That might give you more room. 8:43 is one of the few videos that shows where those stupid spacers go. Mine both fell out when I pulled the door cover off, and I had no idea where they came from. They don't stay in place anywhere that I could figure, so I think I'll stick them to the spot shown with a bit of duct tape and see if that works, otherwise they keep moving or falling out when I try to get the door back on. My Bosch SGE53U56UC/B3 threw E24, then E15 (water in bottom), now E23. When I push start, something buzzes briefly, then a couple rapid clicks, then E23 again. Originally there was water left inside. I checked for obstructions and cleaned, then poured water in and sucked the end of the drain hose with a shop vac. It sucked the water out of the D/W so I'm confident there are no longer obstructions, but it won't go past E23. Once the new drain pump arrives, I will update with how it went. If that lets it get past E23, next I'll have to figure out where the water in the base came from. I see no signs of a leak under the sump or anywhere else so we'll see. Also there are other places where yours could be clogged, like a U-shaped trap in the plastic reservoir behind the left panel or where that connects to the drain hose, which is covered in other videos. Thanks for the great video.

    • @Dentinvent
      @Dentinvent  2 місяці тому

      Thanks for the comment . Yes at 8.43 those annoying spacers seem to go back in if you are careful and place them in place and try to put the door panel back in place .
      I do think the new drain pump should help clear your E23 code . Look for water leaking past the door seal for the water in the base of the unit .

    • @kbbpll7338
      @kbbpll7338 2 місяці тому

      @@Dentinvent The new drain pump fixed it. I have to say that this is possibly the worst engineering I've ever seen. There is no space to get the old one out or the new one in. After much fiddling and forcing I was able to get the old one out. Having to rotate the new one to align with the tab on the sump means that a fin on the pump binds against a raised channel in the dishwasher base. I finally cut that fin off the new motor with a knife. It's useless anyway. It's the one to the left of the electrical connection. Also, I used dish soap to lube the rubber seal, as seen in a few other videos, but mine seemed to dry and just make it sticky. I used high-temp grease from a previous repair instead. The gasket on a new pump is REALLY tight. I almost thought I had the wrong part for a while. The combination of the grease and cutting off that fin on the motor allowed me to finally get the new motor into the sump and properly click it into place. I ran two rinse cycles and did not see any water or leaks, so the previous E15 was probably water getting under there from opening the door when it wasn't drained or something. A fair amount of brown smelly water came out of the old pump, so possibly that was leaking. I think Bosch designed the base as if no one would ever want to replace the drain pump. All they had to do is make it half an inch wider and not put that useless ridge in the base or the fin on the pump. I also could not easily get those door cover spacers back in their proper position and they seem to be useless as well, so I'm just throwing them out. I hope all this typing helps somebody.

    • @Dentinvent
      @Dentinvent  2 місяці тому

      I’m pretty sure you could have replaced those plastic spacers in the correct position. When you get to a stage where nothing goes right , take a break and often when you have a clearer mindset, it helps .
      As far as that tab getting in the way , I think you may have had your insertion angle a bit off . Mine took a while to line up and yes there was some swearing but it goes in with that tab still in place .
      I’d always recommend silicone grease because it really helps seal out water and keeps the o ring lubricated .

    • @kbbpll7338
      @kbbpll7338 2 місяці тому

      @@Dentinvent Obviously you got yours in there, but perhaps you'd agree that it could be a heck of a lot easier. At 7:07 and 7:13 you can see that if the pump is rotated enough to get the channel on the pump past the tab on the sump, the square corner on the fin sticking out of the pump is going to be right up against the vertical rib in the base. I had to have the pump at a slight angle to get one edge of the rubber past the edge of the hole in the sump and then work it in all the way around - it would not go straight in. I spent at least an hour fiddling, with a mirror behind to make sure the channel and tab were properly aligned, etc. All I know is that once I cut 1/4 inch off of the square corner on the pump fin, it went in on the first try. Perhaps the grease was more key to success (not sure if mine was silicon or not, it was leftover from a washing machine repair). I can see where the fin on the pump is intended to divert dripping water away from the connection, so we'll see if cutting 1/4" off of it really matters. Regardless, your video and comments here were very helpful. For $40 shipped and a couple hours of swearing you saved me a bunch. Thanks.

      My old pump which plays up seems to have nothing wrong with it ..
      It had 78ohms on each of the 3 coils inside and spins fine in test mode ..
      I went to buy one from a large appliance outlet here in Syd .. 4 days to order .OR He showed me one that LOOKED identical .. so I bought is and was going to fit it ... but as a precaution, I opened it up and noticed slightly less windings on the 3 Coils..
      When I tested them they were only 45 ohms each ..
      I'm going to order the proper on and wait 4 days ..
      But I reassembled my old pump back in to give it another chance in test mode ..
      Every test cycle worked fine (Drain, Rinse, Spin etc)
      But it stops pumping and plays up "I deduce" only when it is submerged in the wash cycle at 40C° ..
      Ive since done 4 "Cold" Loads with my Old Pump reinstalled Successfully ..
      Something seems to be heat related on this 3yo Bosch Washer ..
      I'll get a new pump to see if it is the Pump ..
      Only other thing is "Could the Circuit board up top be affected by Heat ?"(rising) and sending the pump a skew frequency?? ... TBC ...

    • @Dentinvent
      @Dentinvent  2 місяці тому

      Sorry man ,
      The top part is taped on and screws taken out and the front panel drops off . This is to allow you to get under the front . The tape is so that the whole control section does not fall off as it has a heap of wires inside the control section .
      The front panel needs to be removed to get under the front of the dishwasher as the panel covers the drain pump .
      In the next scene you can see the front panel is missing .

    Hi I have an E24 error on my Bosch DW, but it drains correctly and there are no blockages I can hear the water drain into the sink fitting. There is no more than 5mm of water when I check the pump area. The error comes up after about 10 mins of operation. I have cleaned the unit extensively and there are no blockages from what I can tell in the pump area nor in the hose. Any Ideas?

    • @Dentinvent
      @Dentinvent  4 місяці тому

      Even though the unit appears to be draining , if the pump is faulty , the error will show as that code . The pump is not very costly and changing it would a. Give you peace of mind and b. Most likely stop the annoyance of that error code.
      I think when the pump starts failing , the unit detects the pump has increased load and you get that error .

    Hi, whats should the resistor must be for the drain pump?

    • @Dentinvent
      @Dentinvent  10 місяців тому

      Sorry I don’t know what it should be. I just found that some pumps looked fine and created that error code so instead of wasting time trying to find the pump problem , it was faster and easier to just buy a new one .
      In the video you can see both the hood and the faulty pumps looked almost the same ( with respect to the motor turning).

    • @cosmintoma5197
      @cosmintoma5197 7 місяців тому +1

      Be careful with the drain pump.Thete are two models.They are looking the same.Wat really maters the resistance of windings.One model has 79-80 Ohms,and other(older models ) 130 Ohm.Yf you swap them.....the Maschine will try to drain shortly 3 times and then go to error.So you have to be sure that replacement pump 8t is exactly with original.With a multimeter you can see clearly the resistance of the motor stator.

      @@cosmintoma5197 thanks for the info. I was wondering what the resistance should be across the windings. Mine shows exactly 79-80 ohms, but now I don't know why it still gives E25, even though the pump motor seems to be fine...

      @cosmintoma5197 5 місяців тому

      @@avski05 E25 sometimes comes frim the main washpump.If IT is making some noise on the start up....that means You habe tot replace the washpump.There are some bushings in the rotor of the pump.In case that bushings are gone...there will be a vibrating of rotor touching the stator.....so the machine will diaplay E25 on the beginning of circle.

    Those elastic bands are on every model they were supposed to be there they stop water getting through the impeller hence why by reinstalling without them you got an E1 error as you shorted the pump by letting water in

    Your video is very good. But I have to tell you this E24 and E25 error is a massive design flaw by Bosche. Very common and frankly not an easy fix. Even the impeller cover is a total pain to put back into place. I know that replacing the impeller is way out of my league and my LG did not give me such a headache at all. I regret buying a Bosche dishwasher and this seriously should be a class action law suit. The dishwasher itself has caused damage to my home.

    • @Dentinvent
      @Dentinvent  4 місяці тому +1

      I actually like the Bosch dishwasher. I suppose the blockage and impellers getting food and debris caught is the fact they are used to clean dishes and dirty items .
      The repair is actually quite easy if you take it slowly .

      @@Dentinvent Honestly, I find putting the cover in always a bit of a discovery feeling around. I am not handy and as pointed out in the viideo, it is tight quarters getting in there to replace the impeller. I wish they would come up with a different solution. I don't think I would buy a Bosche again, though I loved it when I first got it.

    Having trouble getting the door panel back on, having it horizontal, lining up the spacers and getting it lined up with the inner part of the door 😦

    • @Dentinvent
      @Dentinvent  11 місяців тому +1

      Glad you asked . It’s a really complicated set up . Don’t panic . You will see the spacers just about fall out . Yes I would try and have the door more parallel to the floor and slip the spacers where they are supposed to sit then try and fit the door panel so that you don’t tilt that panel ( to prevent the spacers sliding downward). Once you get the panel on , start screwing the panel on with the door still horizontal. On the video you will see the tape to hold the control panel . That’s because the front panel won’t go on easily without the control panel moving.
      Let me know how you go . As I said , don’t panic or it will get worse .

      Se la tua lavastoviglie lampeggia con un codice di errore E21, indica un problema con il motore di lavaggio. Un blocco tra il motore o la pompa con conseguente flusso d'acqua insufficiente. Consiglio: rimuovere l'eventuale acqua in eccesso prima di rimuovere la base della macchina per liberare la pompa.
