This is what Top Gear and 5th Gear should be doing rather than vandalising old cars and doing stupid, predictable, set up "challenges". Great video guys and keep up the good work. This sort of thing has to be the future of car shows for proper motoring enthusiasts.
id like to stop give this man quick praise for his reviewing skills coming into the road testing scene when xcar did i wasn't sure they'd be around for too long but this has to be one of my favorites alongside evo and i think thats something to be proud of, good job Xcar boys
The next RS should be fantastic, except for the 2 extra doors. Come on, Ford! If you're going to build this little rocket, it needs to be a coupe. IMHO
Ken Block is in the development team and there's a drift mode? Damn, Ford really can make an exciting hot hatch. The Fiesta and The Focus are just brilliant little machines. Keep up the good work!
+XCARFilms 4:50 Revo Knuckle is not a differential. It is an extra component that reduces the amount of scrub radius, the root cause of Torque steer. So it's a geometrical modification at the wheel hub. You might be thinking about Torque vectoring, a differential that splits torque to individual wheels, something common on 4WDs and recently the 3rd gen Ford Focus. But they are not the same thing.
Excellent re edit, works super well - Thank You XCAR. -- I´m sorry but I can´t remember your name dear XCAR main Journalist - but I´d say if anybody ever have to replace Clarkson on TG you should be among the finalist and on spot 1 in my book - Your voice simply has that Story appeal that makes one want to listen - In fact you could properly tell any nonsense and one would listen anyway - That is a rare gift and the essential Ingredient for creating great automotive editorials. Thank You very Much ;)
This car is a symbol of Ford's new born ambition to give the world the RS. With the new direction of Ford global. They have taken a Ford Focus which was just a regular compact car and created a new age competitor. I am a Ford enthusiast and a Focus loyalist. To witness Ford global bring this beast to the states. Has finally given me and others like me an opportunity. To get rid of our standard Focus and jump into the cockpit of a 345hp RS.
5:30 - 'you leave it in 3rd on a straight, and by the end of said straight you can be doing 120, quite happily, it wont break a sweat'. 7:17 - '90....that's 100 it's run out there we go in to 4th. 110.... 120.... yeah, i'm THAT guy....
This was a fantastic film, very good job. I'm waiting until the new RS500 comes out before I place my order and change from my little ST180 angry puppy.
mojostevo Are you really comparing the RS to STI? The AWD system alone will make me buy a Subaru instead even if the RS is superior in every other aspect. They're just incomparable, I don't understand people who compare a true AWD to FWD-based AWD. Like, you're not fooling anyone, only sending power to the rear when needed is not a AWD.
Lol, I would take this all daaaaay over a Subi. That tired ass ten year old EJ motor, Toyota Corolla looking exterior, meh interior. Been there, done that. Subies are fun, don't get me wrong, but the STI doesn't even compete with the RS, the RS will probably destroy in once the back-to-back comparisons come out. Not to mention this is a hatch, and sedans just don't fit into my lifestyle. Ford hit a home run with this car, just like they did with the STs, and those hits are going to keep coming. Subaru got complacent, plain and simple.
mojostevo Hence why I said, even if the RS wins in every other aspect, the AWD system alone makes it incomparable to the STI. Subaru is known for their AWD and that's the main thing its buyers look for. You can complain about the interior (like I have) and the appearance but they're not what the Subaru is about, and not to mention that those are highly subjective. My point is not to argue Subaru is superior, but rather "why does Ford have to put a FWD-based AWD in this car to ruin it".
I'm really reliefed when I saw the video title and the thumbnail I thought this video would be 100% talking only since the new one wasn't driven by anyone yet. Glad you didn't disappoint me but I would still like some more onboard views like pov-angles etc during your videos. Other than that it's decent as always.
4:52 RevoKnuckle is not the name of the diff used. It was the type of suspension type Ford developed for the front end of the car (a "reworked" form of MacPherson strut to reduce torque steer) It's a shame to see such small details ruining the image of an otherwise nice piece of automotive journalism.
Nicolas Louca I mostly agree, but the RecoKnuckle is still a relevant thing to pick up on as it was designed with reducing torque steer in mind as it makes the torque output from the drive shaft closer to the centre of the hub, perhaps a little too techy for some but perhaps they could have explained a little more clearly of course.
+Jack Naylor much much faster 0-62 is actually 6.2 not 6.7 as he claimed in this video. few minor mods and a map your looking at 260bhp. they are light to very very involving cars. Prices keep rising for them. A nice example will set you back around 10k
***** I really do love these throwback videos. With that being said, I think this sort of video on the history of the Lancer Evolution would be just mega. Especially now that the Evolution's reign has come to an end in 2015. Plus, not many people know about the older generations (I-VII).
Really excited about this car and looking forward to it becoming available. Great presentation here but I have to say.. I have absolutely zero sympathy for all of the torque steer nannys. If you don't like torque steer, DON'T buy a car with power going to the front wheels! :) I think it is perfectly ok to reasonably apply available tech to mitigate torque steer but people who expect torque steer to be completely non existent need to have their heads examined. The laws of physics apply and quite frankly, torque steer within reason is a character flaw I can live with... especially when I'm getting the horsepower that I very much like to have.
For everyone who wants to go down the Sti vs. Focus RS route (since the Evo is going away :( ), the Sti has had the same engine for a while now. It's known to have head gasket issues, manifold issues, turbo issues, piston problems, o-ring leaks, oil leaks, etc. Just about anything you can name, it has wrong with it. That's why people are buying the 2015 WRX more, since it comes with a brand new FA20 out of the factory, which is obviously a brand new engine, and with light modifications is more powerful than a Sti engine. The new Focus RS beats the Sti in just about every challenge. Better braking, better acceleration, better handling & performance & lap time on the nurburgring. Better aerodynamics, more comfort inside, better gas mileage (which isn't too important in a car designed for sport 1st and gas mileage 2nd), more storage space, and it's lighter, on better suspension. I prefer the rear end of the Sti and the hood more, but that front bumper on the RS is really doing it for me.
Makes me just tiiiiiny bit upset that I went and got a regular focus just a few weeks before this RS was announced. Oh well. More incentive for me to pay this car off quicker xD
Iam a Renault Sport fan, however, if Ford makes a good car then iam not afraid to admit it. BUT, i think if my new Clio RS had an option for a manual gear box i still think it would have won the title from the Fiesta ST, it's already faster in acceleration and on a track anyway. :)
MK1 ain't no slouch. Beat the then Subaru by 2.5 seconds round the Top Gear track. It might not have huge BHP but it corners like a house fly. That torque steer is almost like a driver aid when your on full boost in a corner. Get used to using it and it's your best friend.
This is what Top Gear and 5th Gear should be doing rather than vandalising old cars and doing stupid, predictable, set up "challenges". Great video guys and keep up the good work. This sort of thing has to be the future of car shows for proper motoring enthusiasts.
I love how you guys mix a "standard" car-show video with a historical view on the different cars.
XCar is probably the only production group to introduce history while giving tour to the car show. I love XCar! Great job. Very!
Drift mode are you effing kidding me? Ford continues to astonish...
Great video, well done XCARFilms.
small correction
revoknuckle is not a differential, its a special design of wheel hub
Brilliant video. I love the historical context. These touches are what makes XCAR stand above the rest.
It took me a little while to get this guy... but now I genuinely think he is one of YT's best auto reviewers. Good vid.
Wow, great presentation! The new RS has a lot to live up to but that 4WD aspect is really exciting me. I may have to order one of these!
id like to stop give this man quick praise for his reviewing skills coming into the road testing scene when xcar did i wasn't sure they'd be around for too long but this has to be one of my favorites alongside evo and i think thats something to be proud of, good job Xcar boys
Great angle on the typical car show. Keep up the great vids
The next RS should be fantastic, except for the 2 extra doors. Come on, Ford! If you're going to build this little rocket, it needs to be a coupe. IMHO
Great review, thanks!
The new Focus RS is a whole new benchmark.
I love how it handles the road. That 320b horse power flows clean. Look how it moves
Its gliding
win! one of the best reviews on the focus rs so far! cant wait till you get your hands on the mk3
Wow what a great video.
Perfect wrap up about the Focus RS. Wonder what it will be on the road, when it will finally arrive. Too sad you didn't could compare it to the RS500.
Ken Block is in the development team and there's a drift mode? Damn, Ford really can make an exciting hot hatch. The Fiesta and The Focus are just brilliant little machines. Keep up the good work!
*****
Yes they do. Thanks, will check it. :)

The new RS is incredible looking! Can't wait to see it driving! Hope that you guys get to review one when it is released. Great video!
Great work by Alex.
Excellent re edit, works super well - Thank You XCAR.

Just came across your channel, surprised by the quality of the videos! Subbed!
The new focus was pretty cool to see in the auto show, but i cant wait to see the other cars as-well!
Top notch video. It would be awesome if xcar did a comparison of the new Focus RS against the Latest Subaru WRX STI.
You sir are the best! Impressed by your review, keep up the good work!
Thankyou for the honest comparison to the Ecort RS,truely addressing the torque
the driver Window maker in FWD so called hot hatch backs.

***** you do an excellent job on bringing exciting automotive videos :) !
Greetings from France
nice background fresh-up ! loving the concept
Excellent video! I want to drive all the previous Focus RSs and the new one so bad. Super jealous lol.
***** Trust me, I already have. Good stuff.
This video is really well done......subscribed.
Excellent video. Doubt it could get any better
This was a fantastic film, very good job.
I'm waiting until the new RS500 comes out before I place my order and change from my little ST180 angry puppy.
One thumb down? Lol, looks like somebody is having STI buyers remorse.

We're up to 43 WRX and Civic owners
+BERGERJeah and Mégane owners which I'm one.
What a great video! Very informative.

***** Awesome! Thank you guys and keep up the great work.
That wonderful 5 cyl!
I love the MK II. Such a brilliant car.
Definitely, easily one of my favourite cars :)
Great comparison!
Ford fan forever!!
Wait. What's the RevoKnuckle differential? AFAIK RevoKnuckle is MacPherson suspension remastering.
Can´t wait to put I hands in one!
With 4WD with 70% to the rear, it have to be awesome!
Great idea for a vid / story and well told
Hate to admit it but this car is pretty nice. Good job on ford's end.
It's good to see Subaru will still have some competition even after the Evo is gone. This car looks great. I can't wait to take one for a test drive.
keep up the great work
What's the name of the background music in the beginning?
awesome clip work
haha when you said "two previous focus RSes" it sounded very richard hammond-esque :P
Golf R slayer....I'm calling it right now.

How does the mk1 focus rs feel like in speed comparison to say a mk7 fiesta st mountune?

Revoknuckle was the McPherson strut layout, not the differential.
Cheers!

The original focus wheels look so damn good.
Nice video, top job
Earned my subscription :)
Nice video you got a new subscriber :)
I love all the focus rs's just like I love all skyline gtr's and all m3's
The real predecessor for the new Focus RS was the Escort cosworth, not the Focus. 4 Wheel drive makes a big difference .
Looks like Ford decided to pre-empt and release early the evolution of the Mitsubishi Lancer front end by about 5 years.
did they use the old design? thats look like my car and its 2007 focus.
Looks nothing like the '07... Either you don't have one, or you are blind
MULTIBASHUR 1999 they used the old car in the beggining of the video i thought that was it and commented here.
MULTIBASHUR 1999 look 4:22
7:29. That's the face I'm gunna make if I ever get the chance to drive the new RS
If it really does come to the US I might have to trade in my Ralliart. This thing is insane.
Did the RS500 ever make it to the states?
Nope
I love this hot hatch!
not to be pedantic isnt the revoknuckle a suspensions version? Great video anyways
wen is it coming to india ???
looks like the evo x....sounds like they got the yaw control from evo too....
That car with a twin turbo supercharged inline 4 ecoboots engine would be amazing
So the older 500 has more power than the new 1? I guess ill have to wait until the next model comes out.

I'd love a Ford focus rs 2009 ! There amazing
Massive fan :) Ford are the best. I have a Ford connect van :(
But really want a focus rs
Would like to see this car in another color already
What's the price gonna be though? Anyone :3
***** thanks got me thinking about this but im trying to get a skyline but its hard living in hawaii XD
***** we have cool ass backroads that need to be seen and a drag strip near the airport
on big island that is XD
trading my St.and buying this in January

Wish the 3 door would be available in North America...
The 2015 version of the Sierra XR4x4. Doesn't do it for me until I get a test drive.
we need these in the usa
Mk 2 looks sooo good
6.7 seconds 0-60 for mk1 RS? ...Same as a Fiesta ST?
The previous generation looks much more aggressive. It looks like it could tear the new one to pieces.
With the kind of crowd this car will draw, it'll be more expensive to insure than a Ferrari.
pingin punya focus rs please ....
nice video. +1 for drift button
6:58 I think you wanter to say earlier rather than later :P
Makes me just tiiiiiny bit upset that I went and got a regular focus just a few weeks before this RS was announced. Oh well. More incentive for me to pay this car off quicker xD
Its not mad its a good family car if the top can go back the better
I think a 3dr option would look better, even so I'd still have one.
So sad these cars aren't riding im the wrc anymore
"...two thousand and TWO, its very BLUE, in fact, it was only available in this HUE..." Quite subtle? No! x)
*****
Yup, its a great colour! My comment was just meant to acknowledge that rhyme though!
I wouldn't mind a mustang and one of these.

why those four ports that ruin the line ? ... is a sport with many horses is not a family for all .... incredible choices !!
