Thank you so much for taking the time to talk about our history! I just wanted to add that some sources claim that the effigy of Rollo on his tomb in Rouen is actually a copy of Henri the Young King's effigy (Rollo's descendant) because the original has been destroyed during a bombardment in 1944. (sources including Rouen : la cathédrale Notre-Dame written by Yves Lescroart) Some say that his tomb is actually empty, or that Richard the 1st (his grandson) transferred his body to Fécamp but I don't think there is any actual proof of that. There is also this story in Normandy that says Rollo wanted to show how safe his land was, so he hung a gold bracelet to an oak tree in Roumare Forest, and 3 years later, nobody had stolen it (this story was told by Robert de Torigni, an abbe from the Mont Saint Michel). Thank you again for your video! Love from Normandy 😄
Not trying to call you out bud, but uh, his Norse name was Hrólfr. Rollo, or Roluo, was the latinized Christian version of his name. Anyway, loved the video. Very informative and well done as usual my friend.
I believe the documentary Narrator calls him Rollo, as this Christianized version of his name is more widely known than his original Norse version of his name. As a Descendant, I am cool with that.
Indeed it was! The last Anglo Saxon shield wall was the one William broke in the battle of Hastings! Which was actually a really close battle if you look at the history! It really could have gone either way!
I'm guessing he was part of that great summer army that invaded in 878 when you look at his year of death that's more plausible regardless I love your work it's some of the best on UA-cam thank you brother

I think many lords in this age could not command loyalty. They could not draw men to their banner and they could provide gold to make up for what honor could not.

What a name to be remembered in history as, Charles the simple.
Then there is Charles the drunk, Charles the fat, and I think Louis the pious
Don’t forget Charles the bald. But I guess that’s better than Charles who lost his head.
@akaLaBrujaRoja I'd rather be known as bald than simple. Idk if it meant something different than, but that implies that he was simple minded
