The E217 series that was in the video is about to get replaced by the new E235 series used in the Yamanote line in 2019. I am Japanese and I am a little bit sad to see it go because I think it looks cool. Also it has been in service since 1994 which makes it one of the oldest (modern looking train you could say) in service.

Thanks for the information, if I had have known, I would have captured more of the E217's.

@@themid-nightclub6123 our freight trains are up to 2 miles long... sometimes longer, and sometimes need 7 or more engines, what are you even talking about?

@@themid-nightclub6123 depends on where you go really, in towns they don't go that fast usually, but in more rural areas they go around 60 mph, sometimes more

They are all quite short trains!

I think partly due to the need to travel quite fast to fit in between the passenger trains,

I find it neat, that at least at that station, the freight track is seperate from the passenger line. I wonder if the tracks join up and become single track, or if that particular railroad line always has at least 2 tracks?

Short freight trains would make sense only in Japan where they have to give priority to passenger trains. Still, I can't help but think of all the money the fight rails bleed without charging 20 times per tonne/km than a US class 1 freight railways charges.
