Just a heads up for the next few videos. I have 2 reviews coming up next of new upright vacuums that just came in that I need to do before a big 7 vacuum competition video. I also need to get a full review of the Vacmaster, the winner of the shop vac competition done. I have a cool test with the Dyson V10 and a specs comparison of Sebo Vacuums. I am open to suggestions as well for what to do after that!
Would you mind doing some comparison test from let's say the v10 vs other corded vacuums? I know they're different, but for example "Dyson v10 costs x amount, where as the Shark costs x amount less but doesn't have Y." Or something alike. I'd like to see the best of cordless vs low end to high end corded vac to see where some things land. Even mid tier cordless comparing to lowest to highest on corded. And add cost associated with it. If one compares to another but costs 20% more with only 5% more cleaning power. Sorry, kinda rambling, but hopefully you understand lol.
I honestly think the V10, and to a lesser extent the V8 is so far and above any other cordless vacuums out there, that others really arent even worth it regardless of the price.
Agreed. I have not used my d3 in about 7 months. I hooked it up again last week and was blown away by how much better its navagating my home. And the cleaning map it pretty awesome.
A year ago the Neato salesman advised me to get the D3 instead of D75 since they were both within my budget but the D3 software could be updated. I didn't think much of it and went with the D75 instead. Now Neato updates all connected series with no go lines? Damn.
I wanted to schedule for a lot of reasons but mainly so I can be more consistent. But I chose 4pm est because it was a good time in the US to get to the evening viewers without being too late for viewers in Europe.
Neato sent me a replacement D4 in exchange for my D5 that failed. Found the D4 doesn't clean as well without the corner brush. All my edges had dirt. Gotta have that edging brush. Not sure why they even make one without it. Huge difference! Great detailed video!!
This channels' extremely helpful videos convinced me to get a Botvac D5 to replace my dying old Roomba 770. Thank you so much for your breakdowns, comparisons, and demos of the most relevant differences between all the makes and models of vacuum robots. Your efforts are greatly appreciated! 😉
This video is great comparing the models. Exactly what I was looking for! I currently have a NEATO XV Signature Pro. Bought it early 2015. At the time it was the best. After 3.5 years the battery capacity was so low it had to recharge 3 times to finish the living room (in a small apartment). So bought a replacement battery, which appears to have been of lesser quality because since late 2019 (after 1.5 years) it has the same issue. It recharges up to 2 times but does not always clean everywhere it needs to go. So I was looking what NEATO is offering today. One problem I have with my current XV (apart from its battery problems) is that it is bad cleaning close to walls. I have rabbits, which unfortunately do droppings in the living room. The XV is good at picking up the droppings except those close to the wall. So I am glad this is a lot better, I noticed in reviews that the brush is moved way more to the side. And the additional side brush is something I definitely want. So that means D5 or higher. The battery life appears to be longer on these new models as well (although I can't remember the official battery life of the XV S Pro). I like a high battery capacity because the battery capacity will reduce over time. The zone cleaning convinced me to go for the D7. The good thing about rabbits is that they don't do their droppings all around the room, just in a certain spot. So when I just want this spot cleaned I could just tell it to clean the 'Rabbit droppings' zone. Currently I have to pick up the XV Signature Pro, put it there and do 1 or 2 spot cleans. Is this feature still a D7 only features or has is also been given fo the D6 and D5 by software updates? Just wondering: Do these have a completely different charging base or is it compatible to older XV? Because if it is I could use the one from my XV S P as a secondary base.

thanks for putting the important information into the description too. The video itself is really well made and compact, not wasting time but still understandable. Good job!
I'm going to buy my first robot vacuum soon, and was leaning to the d7. Butt after watching this video i realise that the d3 have all the features i was interested in from the d7 :D Thanks! great video!
TIP: You can add or subtract No-Go lines at any time. This kind of makes it so you can have the Neato only do certain rooms sometimes. I have it clean in the middle of the night. Our kitchen needs it everyday, but the carpeted living room and office only need it once a week. So, once a week I remove the no-go lines for those rooms. Kind of a workaround for the lower models not getting the "Zones" feature. Just put the base in the area you want done all the time, or most often.
I really appreciate a company like Neato who continues to push updates to older bots and allows you to upgrade their lower-end models with their higher-end parts. My D3 keeps getting better and better.
We just got a D5 and it seems to be a very good addition for daily cleaning. It is a bit noisy but other than that i like neato and their policy of updating the lower end robots as well. Recently updated and got floor plan and no go lines. That kind of costumer first thinking will create loyal costumers that will be good for sales in the long run.
I would like to see a head to head comparison with the D7 vs. the older Botvac Connected. Only 1 or 2 more options with the D7, but how about performance? You can save $150 with the older version. I have owned the D5 for 3.5 years and it has broken down 4 times and the 4th go around it was done for good, per what SquareTrade informed me on. SquareTrade is reimbursing me for the full retail price. Buying a Protection Plan is a must have!
I have a D7, I find the Spiral brush extremely loud on wooden flooring and caused vibration noise. I bought the combo brush From the other models and it reduces the vibration noise massively, I’d love to see actual comparisons of decibels.
In regards to climbing room barriers - how do these compare? The D7 lists it as a feature in the amazon link but the others don't. I have a couple rooms that have a significant raised threshold but really would like a robot vacuum that can do the whole home while I'm away.
its been three months since you asked this question with no response... I have the same question/issues with thresholds... have you pulled the trigger on one? if so, which one and how do you like it?
Based on your videos just upgraded to a D3 which I got on a flash sale for $199 from a Euphy 30c. Turns out I really needed the no go zones. You can upgrade the battery for $69 and the filters (2 pack $29). Still going strong after 2 plus years. Great video as usual.
Thank you for the comparison. I have an older Neato XV-21. I have been reading reviews on the newer Neatos and my concern is there appears to be a lot of problems with the software. I hope Neato will correct these issues. I really like my Neato and was hoping to purchase another one one of these days. Also, my XV-21 is eight years old. I believe that the newer connected models have reliability issues with their hardware as well. I don’t know if they are making them differently or what.
I would say that the side brush is quite necessary, at least with me BotVac. The robot's brush ring loosened and now the brush doesn't work, and the robot likes to stay away from the walls, missing table legs, the walls and other stuff.
Just bought a D3 because of this review. Loved it. Thanks for the videos! An interesting test would be to compare wattage or energy usage of the vacuum to per time running (Watts/ Hour) to price out any many times per week you should run your vacuum?
Dollar for dollar, what is the best Neato to get for general cleaning of a home with laminate floors and some average rugs? One pet that doesn't shed much too. I just want good daily cleaning of my floors. What do you recommend? And if not Neato, what line/model?
Do you have any links to the Spiral Combo Brush that are sold separately that we could get? Thanks a lot for this amazing review! Keep the great and valuable comparisons coming!
So if the side brush isn't needed, you still need to carry the robot to a different floor even if it has multi plans, and the fact all the other parts are replaceable, looks like the D4 is about the best you need to go unless you want the side brush and go with the D5 . The replaceable battery they sell for these are all the same so I am guessing any of them are upgradable to 120 mins. What I don't get is why is the spiral combo brush flat and the combo brush is the one that is spiral. Plus their website says the normal one is the "best" while the sprial one is "great". That doesn't say much.
Thanks for your informative videos! What happens if your wifi signal is spotty, can I turn off the "Connected" features and just make it work by pushing a button?
SO I just bought a D4 at BBB as they price matched the Amazon price of $392 plus a $100 gift card, on the way home I stopped by Best Buy and they had a D5 that they priced match for $399 so I bought that one too, so now I have 2 units still in boxes wondering if the $100 price difference is worth it? Is the 4 and 5 that much different? Also Best Buy offers a 2 year warranty for $80 that BBB did not.
I actually think that the multiple floor plan update has already arrived on my D7... However the Zone cleaning has not yet, and i cannot wait for that update!
In the future with robot vacuums, can you mention the performance on black rugs/carpet? It seems that's rarely mentioned in robot vacuum reviews, but it needs to be mentioned. I think Neato vacuums work fine on black rugs/carpet, but other vacuums, like the Xiaomi/Roborock, do not unless you manually cover the stair/cliff sensors.
Julian del Prado it's very possible they work with the manufacturer to get free or demo models to test. The company gets free exposure, so it might be worth it.
I just bought a D5 yesterday, I was chatting with NEATO as the similarities between the 4 and 5 are minimal (except for side brush) and some accounts say the 4 is better. They assured me that it is not better and the unit is buried on their website. BEst Buy price matched the D5 for me as Frys electronics has them on sale for $399
Glad they all have the same mapping options now but why spend $600+ on a D7 when you can purchase at 1/2 the cost lower model and upgrade to the D7 minus the useless silly brush and turbo mode for the cost of a battery, ultrafilter, and spiral brush? The battery isn't really needed either since these will all dock and recharge then resume.
When I bought the D3 years ago-----I brought it home----it didn't work-----went back----got another one----it didn't work ---finally the 3rd one worked. I tried to upgrade to the D7 ----ordered it from Bed Bath and Beyond----it was delivered---and did not work------I spent endless amounts of time with the agents ---finally returned it-----got a second one shipped-----it did not work------I just brought it in and got my money back . My 4th D3 works fine.
I got D5 ($380 at amazon) and it works pretty well. And I don't get the advantage of buying D6&7 when thinking about their price. Battery doesn't matter much since it can find its charger, and you can replace a brush if you want within $40.
Vacuum Wars thank you. It’s now down to $379.99. I have an i7+ that I use mostly upstairs and love zone cleaning but would love a 2nd robot vacuum for downstairs so I think the battery life will be fine doing one floor. Your reviews helped me decide to try Neato. Hoping the D5 is a great choice. Thanks.
My neato was doing perfect pattern navigation but since last two months it has started doing randomly. That way it takes more time to clean so charge get exhausted soon.I have two floors house,so I pick it up every time.Is that the reason?
Very very helpful, THANK YOU! I received my D3 today and am loving the fact that you can self upgrade the filter & battery but have a question. I’m getting the quiet + turbo modes in the app for this model...is it true for the D3 or is it an app glitch?
This video may need to be updated. I also have the Eco mode on my D3 now as of today. It's probably another feature that has been added to the app for the D3 model, just like No-Go lines, etc.
Given that all most a year has passed since you posted has any new updates like cleaning zones been made the the rest of the robots in the line up like the D7
Great video, thanks! Quick question: What defines a multi-story home? My whole house is one floor, except there is a step down to the living room. Would I be able to pick the vacuum up and place it down the one step and have it do that room as well, or would that need a separate docking station?
Yeah that would be a multi story home. Any tme you have to pick it up it messes up the calibration. Dont get me wrong it will still clean but most of the cool mapping features wont work.
Is a robot vacuum a good investment? How long do they last compared to a traditional vacuum. Does the time saving ever make up for the extra cost? Or are they strictly a luxury item? Maybe you can do a video about return on investment!? How long do I need to own a robot vacuum for it to save me time & money? $300 (D4) is a lot of money to spend on a vacuum. Period! :( Let alone $600 for the D7! Really hesitating with this purchase. I don't know if I'll be missing out if I don't get the D7. I can afford either, but justifying it is just so hard!
very good video saves me a ton of time reading all the details thanks also can u also try to do a similar video for the ecovacs DEEBOT vacuums, thanks again
Thanks for the video, its was extremely helpful and definitely more useful than the neato site for comparison. Just throwing it out there and wondering if you knew due to your knowledge if other neato models will be getting zone cleaning as I find that very useful but hefty price tag to jump from the D5 to the D7. Thank you
@@chamerrrr Yes thanks! Figured that out. Did not find such information readily apparent. I think at some point I will upgrade to the double-capacity battery so it can do my whole basement.
i am making a robot vacuum with exhaust that pushes the air back into the intake so there's no need for filters ,or pollutants and less wasted energy so it will only need a battery half the size of a conventional vacuum. the robot will also have a sanitaire style beater bar for good carpet cleaning.
Has there been any word on the D5 ever getting zone cleaning? It seems kinda crappy to hold back software features. I would even understand if the wanted to charge for the update but to just keep it from machines that have the capability is not cool.
When will the app with the map come out for the D3? I was able to get it for 256 from home depot but apparently, on black Friday it was for sale for 199.99 dollars.
I think the Neatos are superior robots in just about every way, including pet hair pickup. But the Roomba i7+ does have the new clean base which we really liked when we tested it. so thats what is comes down too in my opinion.
I should have included that one, also the D3 pro is new too and and it is almost the exact same from the regular D3 www.neatorobotics.com/robot-vacuum/botvac-d-series/botvac-d80-85/
I work at Best Buy and I just got a coupon to get the neato D7 for $200 instead of $830 I really wanted A robot vacuum but do you think it's worth it that's really what I'm worried about

Neato D6 at Amazon: geni.us/GmYOk3
Neato D5 at Amazon: geni.us/xJAbJ7

Very impressed with Neato updating their lower-tier models, rather than pushing you to buy a new one.

@@VacuumWars anything about the botvac connected? Will it get the separate room cleaning with an update?

Neato makes the best robot vacuum. I have an XV-21 that is still going, and the D3 I got does my downstairs. Life changing robots
Awesome to hear about the longevity issue from a long time owner. Its a hard thing to test so testimonials are important!
How how is the vx21 compared to the D3? Are they a lot quieter? I have a VX 11 and it's pretty noisy.
You've made a mistake with the brushes, right? Spiral are the ones that are shown for D3-D5 but they are only available on D6 and D7, right?
Looking forward to ‘Vacuum Wars’ reviews of the upcoming D8, D9, and particularly D10 with HEPA filter.

In the UK Have botvac connected software update says not suitable for d3 d5 how do i know which model I have?
When will you review the new ones? Especially D9 and D10?
Best Buy has the D4 and D5 on sale for $399 and the D6 for $599. With the update is the D6 worth the $200 price jump?
The battery life is a concern, if you can live with the shorter life the I think there is no need for the upgrade.
Thanks.
Does the neato d5 have manual clean?
What about the d3 pro. Is that different from the connected
My neato was doing perfect pattern navigation but since last two months it has started doing randomly. That way it takes more time to clean so charge get exhausted soon.I have two floors house,so I pick it up every time.Is that the reason?
Does the Neato have a remote control option?
Isn't the battery interchangeable to so you can pretty much make it the same
I am stuck between d6 or d7? Could you help me and tell me what is the real difference between them
Very very helpful, THANK YOU!
Thank you for this comparison. Great info and very helpful.
Have you reviewed yet the Eureka floor Rover versatile or Bissell air ram?
No but I almost certainly will, I keep looking around for a good price on one.
I can afford either, but justifying it is just so hard!
very good video saves me a ton of time reading all the details thanks
also can u also try to do a similar video for the ecovacs DEEBOT vacuums, thanks again
Thanks! Thats a good idea about the Deebot lineup, I will work on that.
Thanks for the video, its was extremely helpful and definitely more useful than the neato site for comparison. Just throwing it out there and wondering if you knew due to your knowledge if other neato models will be getting zone cleaning as I find that very useful but hefty price tag to jump from the D5 to the D7. Thank you
comparisons on the different roller brushes .
I clicked on the links and from what I gathered, is that the D5 is cheaper and better than the d4.
If I’m wrong please correct me
I've noticed the d4 is about $50 more expensive than the d5 where I live. Why is this? The d5 seems like it should be the pricier one
Im seeing the same thing online too. Hopefully the vacuum master can answer this!
hi , nice videos :)
i checked Neato website and the zone cleaning is still not available .. any news about this ? it is almost Christmas :)
Not sure, I just bought a D3 so I should know as soon as it happens.
What if I buy a D4, and I want to vacuum my different levels? Is it still able to?
Yes, simply tap the button on the D4
@@chamerrrr Yes thanks! Figured that out. Did not find such information readily apparent.
I think at some point I will upgrade to the double-capacity battery so it can do my whole basement.
You can control neato with Apple watch?
i am making a robot vacuum with exhaust that pushes the air back into the intake so there's no need for filters ,or pollutants and less wasted energy so it will only need a battery half the size of a conventional vacuum. the robot will also have a sanitaire style beater bar for good carpet cleaning.
Does the neato d5 have Manual clean?
Just got my Neato, but dont know, how to send it back to base manualy. Is there any functional buttom on device or via app?
Does the D7 have a battey saving modethat charges only to 80%?
Maybe it would me called eco-mode or something.
Thanks!
Love my D4!
Nice!
Best channel fort this stuff
Has there been any word on the D5 ever getting zone cleaning? It seems kinda crappy to hold back software features. I would even understand if the wanted to charge for the update but to just keep it from machines that have the capability is not cool.
I dont think the D5 will get zone cleaning..but the nogo lines are the really cool upgrade anyway! imho
Does the neato d5 have manual clean?
When will the app with the map come out for the D3? I was able to get it for 256 from home depot but apparently, on black Friday it was for sale for 199.99 dollars.
Thats sounds like a crazy good deal!
Well the update came out today. Who knew.
Hi you tell me what is Neato botvac D85
Does the neato d5 have manual remote control?
Looking at the D3. Is it a better buy than the Roomba 690?
Absolutely.
Neato or romba?? I'm looking at d6 or d7 and the new i7 line. Primarily cleaning hardwood floors
Ps.....pet hair main thing to clean
I think the Neatos are superior robots in just about every way, including pet hair pickup. But the Roomba i7+ does have the new clean base which we really liked when we tested it. so thats what is comes down too in my opinion.
@@VacuumWars thank you....i was leaning toward neato....woulld you spend the extra for the d7?
@@randymullins5525 hmm thats a tough one, I would say probably not.
I would have before this new update but now that they all have nogo lines I dont think I would.
Hay, what about the Neato Botvac D85 or D80, what are there specs such as battery life and features?
I should have included that one, also the D3 pro is new too and and it is almost the exact same from the regular D3
www.neatorobotics.com/robot-vacuum/botvac-d-series/botvac-d80-85/
You have probably the best customer service out of all of them 🤣
@@VacuumWars thank you this helps alot on most of my confusion.
I work at Best Buy and I just got a coupon to get the neato D7 for $200 instead of $830 I really wanted A robot vacuum but do you think it's worth it that's really what I'm worried about
Totally not worth it but I'll take that coupon :D
Thanks for the video :). Great info.
Thanks! And thanks for stopping by!
Great run down, thank you
Cool, glad it helped!
What's the "1 mode" in the D3? Do we know?
Dont know yet, I did just buy one though so I should know soon.
@@VacuumWars I bought 1 as well...the "one mode" is turbo.
Just got the update on my d3 and now I have eco and turbo mode.
@@jtfche yep, and no go lines.
