    Thank you for your thorough research. Price and connectivity were my main reasons for choosing the Roborock. I had the Neato D7 initially, but it would intermittently operate due to connectivity. I would love to view a comparative review of robotic lawnmowers, Thank You, again

    I bought a D7 and found that it wouldn't clean in certain places even though it was a tight fit, it should have gone down the gap. Picked up an S5 and it was slightly wider than the Neato but man was I impressed when it went down the gap on first try. I think the Roborock is a bit more brave in trying to go into narrower gaps. Plus I was very disappointed with the Neato app.. The fact you can see where the Roborock has been with its path makes it an absolute clear winner. D7 was great, but S50 is amazing.

      I don't recommend Neato at all. All sorts of issues. Including mine I have 4 references of breakdown of Neato robots and all disastrous outcomes for each owners including myself. It breaks easy and stops functioning with new range of robots. Older ones were fine but looks like in order to save money they started going after cheap designs and cheap parts, because failures are quite consistent with newer models. I don't recommend Neato Vacuum Robots anymore. And like many mentioned over internet, their service is useless at best.

    I owned both simultanously and returned D7. Price or mopping wasn't a factor.
    D7 kept mashing obstacles more and harder, losing location on map and moving/pushing charging station off its place. It also reverses in some corners so that it climbs wall 10cm height and marks white painting of wall with its body color. On careful navigation setting it left basicly under all chairs and dinning table uncleaned.
    I do not have pets or kids and we don't wear shoes inside. Single floor having 56m2 area counted by robots. S5 dust bin gets full in week and half of daily cleanings.
    D7 does better single pass deep cleaning in open area. It also keeps noticeably more (or annoying) noise than S5. S5 cleans edges and corners better when there is no tiny strips at room edges, but high skirtings.
    D7 handles (30 - 100 cm) long hairs better without tangles. S5 rolls rugs much less. S5 did single pass clean in my room/furniture layout faster, but there wasn't meaningful difference.

    I bought the Roborock S50 and have honestly been astounded by it, it is super effective and really makes a difference when it comes to keeping things clean. It's navigation system is truly amazing and I love how I can set barriers and block off entire sections with the app. The only issue I had with it recently was from my own stupidity. When I go out I often lock my door from the outside and then hide the keys inside the door using the cat flap. Not thinking I did this one Saturday night only to come home and find my keys were missing. The Roborock came on for a scheduled clean and swept my keys into another room. It was infuriating at the time and cost me a fortune to get a lock smith out, but it's definitely a funny first world problem story to tell friends and colleagues :-P

    I have owned my D7 for over a year with a total of 6 rma return due to lack of consistant function in the device. The software is spotty as the D7 will randomly decide to not vaccum and claim it cant find the map. Im now working on another RMA as of 4/17/2019. The plus side when it does work it conditions carpets really well and pickup is stron. The Con reliability as the bot and the app tends to flake out. Also setup time creating new map. As i have had my replace numerous times it would be great to be able to transfer the map instead of having to creat a nrw one everytime.

    I have the S5 and it's been great. I'm not too fussed on bin size given that even 1 cup can last a few days before requiring cleaning. And the filters are super easy to clean.
    But I thought it necessary to point something out that I noticed. The Neato on low power is 17cfm at 120 minutes runtime whilst the S5 is 17cfm at 110 minutes runtime. This to me kind of suggests that perhaps the Neato is slightly more efficient?
    With that being said. My entire house can be vacuumed by the S5 with over 50% battery remaining. In fact I've set it to do 2x (vacuums entire house twice in a single run) without having to recharge. So as you stated in the video, runtime isn't really important with these two devices.

    I have the Neato D3, it does really well on my hardwood floors, area rugs and tile. It was getting to where it was banging into objects, but then I realized that that was my fault for not cleaning the sensors and body of the unit. Once I cleaned it, the D3 stopped ramming into stuff. I noticed today that there was a software upgrade that was available. I let the upgrade run and reconnected the unit to my tablet, did a test run and WOW what a difference. The D3 actually mapped the floor plan of the room and ran an effective back and forth pattern of the room before moving onto the next room. I was considering upgrading to another robot but after the software upgrade, I see no reason to replace the D3.

    I don't believe CFM measurement could be used to measure power of the vacuum. Since D7 nozzle opening in larger than S5's there is chance D7 creates less suction than S5. You shouldn't be using CFM's to measure suction. CFM would not change if you make nozzle of vacuum smaller or larger, but static pressure would change and that is what creates suction.

    Great vid. Wonder if there is any information about the filtration performance of these vacuums?
    I have read that the roborock does not have a HEPA filter but a worse EPA 11 (E11) filter. But I have not been able to find any official information about this. If it is correct that it has a EPA 11 filter then it filtrates a minimum of 95% of particles with the size of 0.3 micrometer.
    The Neato I find no information about the filter performance. I read in a review that it filter particles down to 0.3 micrometer. But I find no information about the actual performance to filter these particles. Does it filter 1% of them or 99%?

    The new zone features of the D7 have broken the auto room detection for no go lines. Can you go into this further as Neato really need to fix this, it has become a massive frustration for many that if the auto detection fails you can’t manually override it.

    I think that it is important to note two other items with these vacuums.
    1. Neato will invalidate your warranty if you buy the vacuum from a third party. On Amazon, you will need to make sure that the seller is Neato Robotics to keep that warranty intact. As a result of their minimum price policy, and warranty restriction you will rarely see any different price, though a savvy shopper may find applicable % off coupons via big box retailers.
    2. The best prices on the Roborock S50 are going to be found when ordering it from China (ebay, aliexpress, banggood, etc.) but warranty will be non-existent at that point.
    But I assume if you order through these Amazon links you are supporting this channel, which is good too.

    • @VacuumWars
      @VacuumWars  5 років тому +1

      On number one my understanding is that this is not true, in fact they told me they would honor a warranty even if it was purchased from EBAY as long as you can prove that the listing was new, sealed in box.
      I do support sites like Gearbest that sell from China, and yeah its cheaper, but the shipping can take several weeks, I guess it depends on which is valued more but you are totally correct.

      Wow your lucky, 😲 I have the shark r87 but I love the sharks 20cfm airflow and very very quiet cleaning. It also has the built in handheld vac on the charging dock, which I find very convenient. Although, the main reason I got the shark I s because of how cheap I got it at bed bath and beyond with the 20% off coupon. It was only $375. But the normal price on the shark is $500

  • @arevee9429
    @arevee9429 5 років тому

    Wow, tough call. And you called out the two items I thought were important - bin size and price. On battery life, I wonder if Neato's wide brush allows it to clean a larger surface area on a charge than Roborock with it's narrow brush and longer run time.
    And for the irrational, there is something about the shape of Neato that appeals. Maybe because it seems like it would get into corners better than a round bot. The round shape, like random ping ponging of cheaper vacs, just seems wrong.

    • @VacuumWars
      @VacuumWars  5 років тому

      Hi there Are Vee! Yeah the larger brush does mean fewer passes, and the D shape is good for corners and edges, but really its not that much better at corners than a round bot.

    I've read alot of complaints regarding the Neato vacs having issues with connectivity. Do you have any info regarding this? It seems to be a big issue. I like that the neato has a square shape which can help it clean corners, but I may forfeit that and go for the roborock s5 since I don't want to deal with a vacuum not staying connected.

    I bought the Neato D3 Pro for me and the Deebot 901 for my Mom. I cannot tell you how much regret I have with the Neato. This empty my bin error cannot be overcome. Neato support is asking me to send it back as an RMA but is not sending me a replacement in the meantime. The specs looks good on the Neato but nothing after that. Meanwhile, the Deebot's is great. Even the mapping is better. So I advise the audience: take the Roborock. Even my dumb Roomba that I just gave away did its job well for over 4 years without a hitch.

    I dont know how it is in US but i Europe is Roborock available under 400$ almost all time and with 3 year warranty. You can get this on aliexpress (roborock will be expedited from EU stock) or on gearbest where are similar options (i got one from gearbest for 360$ before xmas from China but "EU priority line" so you have no worries with taxes). So in this point of view is roborock winner for me.

    1. Since 2*roborock is the same price as 1*Neato+1*extra dock = multiple floor plan solution goes to roborock since you can have one on each floor at the same price as manually moving the neato every day you want to clean. Less fuzz and two vacuums/docks must be the better choice. Agree? ;-)

The D7 will error out if the base surrounding area has changed at all (clothes piled up, cloths bin moved closer to base, dog bed moved etc) took a sec to realize the issue was but not a problem anymore. Cleans very well! But sometimes it would get lost and stuck behind a recliner that even had no go lines there and it went there anyway trying to "return to base" overall it cleans the pet hair and dirt very well!
