Your legs have got to be feeling the burn, holy cow! Some of those trails look wicked beautiful so thank-you for sharing! I actually started a channel recently and so my comment name has changed from Julie M to Naturally Adrift Photo Adventures. Be sure to let Rob know and if you have any tips for a newbie I sure would appreciate it. Thanks!
Nicely done Chris & Rob. Looked like a fun route, outside of the rain, wind and cold anyway. Beers at the end of the ride always makes it a better ride.
Haha! We were Way passed knackered when we got back to the car. I’m thinking Crushed would be a good word! Notice at the end there was one clip between, we had 15 miles of climbing and the ride up shot.
Haha to thanks for watching Jamie! Rob is right we weren’t knackered we were totally obliterated after this one. At least our front wheel didn’t blow up though 🫠
As usual, another great video! Really enjoy watching your brotherly camaraderie and the beautiful scenery of the routes y'all ride. Looking forward to making my way back up to Oregon and exploring some of the trails you guys showcase here.
My last trip I put two cans of wine in a soft sided platypus water bottle. Worked great for me, and you don't have to pack empty cans out. But I might not be packed quite as tight as you guys are!
I think I even have a Klean kanteen for rob to use! Hopefully we see the new system on our upcoming Utah trip, getting alcohol is a pain out there! Think smart Parker!!!
i think i did the pleasant ridge route that same weekend. absolutely froze overnight in my 40 degree sleeping bag. definitely gonna have to do this one!
Ahh!! 40 degrees is too warm! I use a 25 degree quilt all summer! Guess I’m just a cold sleeper. When it’s wet in the pwn too it just chills you to the bone! I’m going to have to check out the pleasant ridge route. Post a link if you’ve got it!
After a really busy fall, I"m just getting caught up on your adventures. Great work Chris it felt like I was there with you on the ride (unfortunately for the miserable parts as well....)
So good! Love the dark foreshadowing edit at the start. Hah! Terririfc work. Was that a new Durston Tent you have now? I'm happy to see it looks like it weathered the storm... are you super happy with it? Hard to beat that trail weight
Hah thanks for watching man! Yeah it’s the duration xmid pro 2. Haven’t take it out enough to form strong conclusions, so far so good though. The duplex has served me well for the last several years but the xmid addresses a lot of my annoyances with the duplex. (Door closure, pole in the middle of the door, bad tension on bathtub floor). If I am still using it after 5 more trips I probably liked it better than the duplex haha
Last time I was near Mt Hood I actually solo camped out for a night at the “A Final Rest” spot for the Pioneer Woman. It was actually a pretty creepy night and I somehow spilt beer in my tent
PNW fall/winter weather can be downright miserable - cold, damp, wet…🥶 Stupid question - why don’t you guys have separate tents? Nicely done and thanks for sharing, Chris 🤟🤙
Hah not a stupid question. Rob and I met in a mountaineering group. In the climbing world you carry so much crap, you take what you need and share gear. No need for each person to bring a stove, filter, shovel, etc..when it can be shared. This allows you to cut down on weight and bulk. Same thing applies with a tent. It’s really an efficiency thing. There is a time and place for redundancy and if I really hated sharing a tent I’d tell him to carry his own but we’re used to it
Hi, UA-cam would be the closest thing to a platform where I recommend beginner routes hah. I have videos for every single one of these routes on my channel so you can get a sense of what you'd be getting into. - Here is what I'd recommend - First Trip: The Deschutes River Trail This was my first bikepacking trip! If you go back far enough on my channel, I even have a long boring video about it! What is great about this route is it is relatively close to PDX, it has a unique beauty to it, it isn't strenuous, it is an out and back versus a loop (So you can just go as far as you'd like then turn around!) I will say, don't go on this route expecting perfectly tame gravel. It's not... you can get by with a gravel bike, but it is a little bumpy. Route: ridewithgps.com/routes/37878759 Second Trip: Metolious River If you liked it well enough to go on a second trip, but you want something slightly more challenging, head down to sisters and ride along the metolious river. (Or start from Camp Sherman to make it shorter). There are a lot of ways you can modify this route to make it anywhere between 40-70 miles round trip. On this ride you'll have tarmac, gravel, singletrack, and. you'll ride along the beautiful Metolious river! Check out out and modify accordingly ridewithgps.com/routes/33162273 Third Trip: Oregon Stampede If you're ready for a third, and want to step it up to a MULTI night trip, consider checking out the Oregon Stampede. You could break this up into a 3 day trip to make it more relaxed (It's 124 miles) Or if the first two were too easy and you want more of a challenge, do this in two days. This route is predominately gravel and road, but you get a little singletrack. This will help you figure out if you prefer gravel/road or more off road style riding that you get with the first two. Route: traveloregon.com/things-to-do/outdoor-recreation/bicycling/oregon-stampede/ I think those three are pretty good options to get your feet wet! They are all fairly accessible and provide flexibility! I'll repost something i've posted before, these are my favorite routes in the area. I wouldn't necessarily recommend these for a beginner... do the trips above first, and if you want to step it up check out these routes: Mount St. Helens Epic - bikepacking.com/routes/mount-st-helens-epic/ This is probably my favorite route in Washington. Maybe 1.5 hour drive from PDX. I've always done this as a 2 day trip, but you could turn this into a 3 day trip or come up with some fun variations, or make it easier by taking out some of the boundary trail. Riding in the Mount St Helens area offers a really unique and beautiful experience. I highly recommend this route. It has road, gravel, and single track and is a challenge... some of the miles are slow. (Have done this route like 5 times) High Cascades Overnighter - bikepacking.com/routes/high-cascades-overnighter/ This is all singletrack. You could break this up into three days and it would be easy to link up to other trails/roads. The miles are slower going given you're entirely on singletrack. Great views of the Three Sisters. You'll definitely see people, but i've never been out here and felt like it was crowded. Finding campsites at little lava lake would be tough right now, but just a bit further down the trail you could find a place to post up. (Have done this route 3 times) Silver Siouxon - bikepacking.com/routes/silver-siouxon/ Love this route! Been closed due to fires.... but I think it might be open this year. Hoping to go do the route next weekend... Beautiful area near Silver Star and riding a long Siouxon Creek is spectacular. I've done the route in two days and 3 days. It's a tough route in two days. (Particularly day one). Be aware that parts of the Siouxon Trail may have a lot of blowdowns. (Have done this route 3 times Goat Mountain Gusto - bikepacking.com/routes/goat-mountain-overnighter/ Don't be fooled by the low miles, this route can still kick your butt with the big climbs. Camp at dead man lake (which can get busy. All singletrack riding, lots of fishing opportunities. Watch out for mosquitos! (Have done this route twice) Metolious River / Green Ridge - www.omtm.cc/metolius-headwaters / ridewithgps.com/routes/37784552. Been on this route a few times and don't usually see many people along the Metolious. Have only seen 1 person up at Green Ridge, great views with singletrack riding! One of my favorites. Fishing opportunities as well... (Have done this route 3 times) Mount Hood Dirty Reacharound - ridewithgps.com/routes/29438859 I've done this route a few times in two days. Could break it up into 3 days if you wanted something a little easier.. Cool route with some remote sections and options for singletrack (gunsight ridge and Surveyors ridge). Great views of Mount Hood. Lots of camping opportunities. (Have done this route twice) Fire and Ice / Falls Creek - www.omtm.cc/falls-creek-hinterland-v2 / bikepacking.com/routes/fire-ice-cave-loop/ You will definitely see people along these roads. In the summer some of the gravel roads can get a bit dusty. You go past several lakes where you will also likely see people, but I don't think you'd have a hard time finding a place to camp. Despite the people, still a fun route.... with options to link it up to some singletrack. (Have done this route once)
Hey Anthony thanks for watching! Most of the shots come from a Sony A7siii using a Sony 24-105 f4 lens. I’ve had the camera for almost 2.5 years now and I really like it! Started with Sony a6000, moved to Fuji, then came back to Sony. I also carry around an action camera too (GoPro 9) and occasionally a DJI mini 2 drone.
It is! I have the 1p and this is the xmid pro 2. I’ve only used it a few times and the goal was to replace the trusty duplex. There are some annoyances I have with the duplex that this addresses (door closure mechanisms, bathtub floor, pole position). Need more trips with the xmid pro 2 still. Initial impressions are good.
@@pnwbikepacking I wonder if 2 people would fit better in the Xmid 2 sleeping Head-to-toe? It would at least give both of you better vestibule access. It would not be nearly as fun for thunderstorm filming sessions though - lol
That was cool. You two crack me up. Good to have a suffer bud! And a beer
Exactly!
Another great story of a memorable ride.
Thanks for watching Jim! Hope to do this again but be less crushed next time!
Whack-a-doodle. You guys rock!!!😂😂
Thanks Shayne!
Cue Rob pouring his wine into his water bottle....
I swear I’m going to change my system! Clearly, just throwing cans in a bag is not working!
Yeah typical Rob.
You guys always seem to have the best of times! Keep sharing those AWESOME videos!
Thanks!
That was one tough route. Nice tent. Glad you all kept your sense of humor. Thanks for the video and take care, Al
Thanks Al!
Another great trip! You guys always seem to stay positive even when the conditions suck! Way to get it done.
Thanks Corrine! I think I overplayed the conditions a little, honestly it wasn’t that bad haha. But as always, we had a blast!
You two always make it look fun.
Thanks Michael, I think that’s mostly because Rob and I genuinely are just stoked to be out there riding! Happy it comes through in the videos!
good to see you wild and crazy guys again.
Thanks Phillip, yeah the production team has been lagging a bit this season hahaha

Love these videos, keep it up!
Thanks!
I really dig these trips and videos.
Thank you!!! Glad you enjoy them!
Great video! Always stoked when you post.
Thanks Terry!
the intro this time was epic 😂 😂
Thank you! Glad you liked it
Nicely done Chris & Rob. Looked like a fun route, outside of the rain, wind and cold anyway. Beers at the end of the ride always makes it a better ride.
Thanks for watching Jason, honestly it wasn’t that bad we were just being whiny!
You really had a bird land on your head🤣🤣
Haha yeah that was ridiculous. Those camp robbers have no fear
You guys doing great 👍
Thanks pascal
Awesome thanks. Next vid. Didjabringabeer
Thanks Brett!
Love your videos, you make me laugh, always look forward to the next one. Will Rob figure out the wine situation? Stay tuned!😂
Thanks for watching. Nah we’ll probably have another wine disaster on the next trip! Stay tuned!
great video, reminds me of a wet june ride we did here on the southern oregon coast, long rainy nights in a wet tent.
Thanks for watching! Bandon bikes represent!
You guys are just awesome!! Allways with that good vibes!! Big Hug to booth of you from Spain! 💪😉
Another great weekend in the books - Day 2 seemed pretty epic! Also, this might be the first video where no one was "knackered"!
Haha! We were Way passed knackered when we got back to the car. I’m thinking Crushed would be a good word!

Living here in Oregon sure hope I run into you two someday!
Another wonderful adventure. I like the route. It would be a fun one to do. But maybe not in the middle of a wind and rain storm.
Yeah it’s a tough ride, it really worked us. Cool route that I hope to do again.
Preferably done in September, with a clear stretch predicted.. mercy!
My last trip I put two cans of wine in a soft sided platypus water bottle. Worked great for me, and you don't have to pack empty cans out. But I might not be packed quite as tight as you guys are!
No, I think you’re just smarter and think ahead!
I just keep throwing cans in my bag and they get rattled and pop.
I’m going to change my system!
See Rob, Cody has a system and it worked great! Your system is a disaster! Get it together please!
Klean Kanteen Rob! You'll love it. I promise.
I’m making the switch!
No more cans!
I think I even have a Klean kanteen for rob to use! Hopefully we see the new system on our upcoming Utah trip, getting alcohol is a pain out there! Think smart Parker!!!

Good job on a well edited Halloween video lol
Thanks ! Glad some people appreciated to r Halloween theme, that made it fun to edit. Next time I need to lean in harder though!
hey, you guys are pretty cool
It’ll be all down hill from here! 😂
Last time I was near Mt Hood I actually solo camped out for a night at the “A Final Rest” spot for the Pioneer Woman. It was actually a pretty creepy night and I somehow spilt beer in my tent
hahah! Spilling beer IN THE TENT! No good!!!
@@pnwbikepacking yea, it’s usually a number one rule to stay out of the tent with drinks but the odd energy made for a weird situation 😆
Nice video! I don’t think I could get my riding partner to do something like this!
Yeah sometimes you’ve got to scam them a bit, downplay the elevation, distance, and terrain… I do it all the time with Rob! 😂
Not gonna lie... those beers at the end looked great. That wasn't Mt. Hood Brewing, was it? I was there years ago and would love to get back.
No, that was El Burro Loco.
It’s just down the street from where we parked the car.

Gross! If I wore a chamois I may be able to wring it out like that 🤮
You guys need a 3- MSR or Big Agnes Tent.
