    I met my guy online, thru Zoosk, we were both widowed, & now almost 2 years in, and both in our 60’s. I made it very clear from the beginning what I was looking for, and compatibly & chemistry was there! It is possible, but ask the right questions, be honest! The right guy is open to all of this! Best of luck to you all! Listen to Jonathon! Be respectful, so important! Love it!!!

    Hi Jonathon, My ex husband was a very violent alcoholic and I would be pulled out of bed by the hair to cook dinner for him whenever he got home sometimes at 2 am. He usually ended up falling asleep on the floor someplace or his head would rest on his plate. I escaped with my life after sustaining many injuries some to my face whilst holding down a very responsible job as assistant to an accountant. I don't think there are two sides to my story. He passed away years ago after we divorced and I have never ran him down to his son even though our son witnessed him breaking down the front door one night with a crowbar! That is not my style! I feel that it is far better to only mention good things like his gregarious personality, his laugh, how if I wanted or needed something, it wasn't a problem. I am an extremely positive person, outgoing and happy with a great sense of humour. If there is a problem, I look for the silver lining. I have gone on to study counselling, have a diploma and may do further study in the future. I love your videos and just have to say, you have helped me a lot. I think you are funny too. Take care, love from Oz xx

    The more I watch these kinds of videos, the more I am satisfied and happy with single life.
    Most people are looking for what someone else can give them rather than working on themselves and looking for a truly compatible mate that enhances their life ( and they in turn enhance the other person's life).
    Narcissists look for the best possible empath to take advantage of while empaths are either completely unaware OR they are desperately trying to avoid getting a match with a narcissist.
    Many people refuse to look in the mirror and be completely honest with themselves about who they are and what they can truly offer. They look for a match who's waaaaay beyond anything they can reasonably offer--- in terms of empathy, personality, compassion, finances, looks and level of fitness. They are least likely to look to partner with someone who is really at their level.

    I agree that low self esteem, often heavily cloaked in overriding bravado, sucks the confidence out of many people (including me, often), keeping them from asking plainly for what they want, asking questions they ought to ask.

    I’ve always struggled with punctuality because one of the symptoms of my neurodivergence is time blindness, plus my chronic pain does slow me down occasionally. I never mean any disrespect by it.
    But I 100% agree that class is empathy, which leads to treating people well and being respectful and considerate, while being trashy is treating people like trash, because people treat people in accordance to what is inside of them, void of any psychological abuse, it has nothing to do not the person who is receiving the treatment from them.

    Jonathon, i have enjoyed your videos. I am 72, look much younger and am healthy and fit. I attract a lot of octogenarians and much younger men online! With few exceptions men my age look at my photos, tell me I am beautiful and want to meet. I look at their profiles and photos. Then I will respond kindly that I do not think that we are a match. Usually they are very overweight, right wingers or hold other political or religious beliefs that are polar opposites of mine. I state clearly my that I am a liberal and atheist. They do not bother to read. My photos are very good. And I have action shots as well. I am reading your book What is Self Love anyway. And the other that you have recommended, Eight Dates. I did have an intense, exclusive 7 month relationship with a smart, educated liberal man my age. He never stopped talking about his last three-year relationship that failed. when he dumped me the same way he dumped her, I recognized a pattern. I have become more selective and do ask the questions that you suggest. I often end things because of silly or otherwise poor responses. It is hard work!

    I love your comments. Don't forget to mention motives, everyone has one. Or lying to the person who looks up to you without reason. Just because you think you can and the person finds out. It lowers your standards in their eyes and things are never the same between you again. Carolyn.

  • @richwarrior777
    @richwarrior777 2 роки тому +6

    Jonathon, you said you think it’s disrespectful when people abbreviate when texting, for example texting “U” instead of “you”. I recently saw a video from a female relationship “expert” where she lost it over her husband answering her text with “K” instead of “OK”. She thought it was disrespectful that he didn’t value her enough to add the “O”. If she keeps that up, “O” might be all that she gets from her relationship. It might have been better if she chose her battles by focusing on the crucial issues in the relationship, rather than minor issues like her husband’s texting styles or whether or not he left the toilet seat up. There will be enough serious issues in relationships, so I think it might be wise if people would learn how to just shake off the small stuff. Love should be a peaceful refuge-not a battlefield. I wish that I had understood this better when I was younger. BTW, there’s a name for people who constantly nitpick the small things in relationships: SINGLE.

    Oh my gosh you kill me ha ha ha. You always affirm that my man is so wonderful and amazing. I listen to you because my friend (girl) is super busy and I send your videos to her to watch because she wants to begin dating.
    My boyfriend would sometimes take a couple days to respond back to me. When I did the same, he texted my friend to see if I was ok 😆. I said I just thought he was setting the standard and didn't want to seem like I was desperate or chasing him. We're now on the same page 🤣. If he don't respond with the same day, I don't get mad. He'll call me early the next day and tell me why he hadn't responded sooner. Just love that guy. Such a doll. It's been 4 years and planning a bright future.

    I was in a relationship with a financially abusive narcissist who attempted to spend a lot of my retirement luckily I left that relationship years ago. I’m 62 years old and I went on match and met a man who is 65 years old we have been together for over two years now. We enjoy doing so many of the same things, we love to camp he loves to fish I love the sun on the boat while he’s fishing we both love many of the same genres of music. Best of all we both love sex.
    And actually we talked for quite a while on the phone before we met I lived in Colorado he was in my home state which I was getting ready to move back to in a few months he traveled to meet me in Colorado first and then three months later I moved to my home state however we just hit it off but we both put all the cards on the table we’re both financially independent and it’s all great!!
    My issue and why I am watching your podcasts which I love is that I am still having some issues getting over the former narcissist in my life and my new guy is so awesome that I don’t want any of that old crap to taint my new relationship..
    I love your F bombs!!! 👊🏼😂😂

Real life situation, not online - No sex ... haha like NO, "not even an option to you right now" lol ... only cple social meetings but he asked if he cd give me his mobi so we could meet up. Not heard back for 7 days. NB. Yes this is the same guy I posted about last week ! He replied a day later, so I responded, a day later (way past that bs now btw). He didn't even open my reply all night (busy elsewhere? ) but said wanted meet up but he's moving house, "rushing around with so many things at the mo". Clearly he not on same page as me but glad as it made reflect on my standards & brought out some deeper wants. Have watched LOADS of Yr videos.... I'm def an anxious attachment style but now I know it I can work on it so thank you. As Susan Winter says, it's the dream within me I tuned into, not the guy x

    Agreed after many books levels of healing I learned after my relationship ended , if you don't get or see your part in how you played in it..to recognize it lean in to learn from it and be conscious. You will never bust that pattern and carry it to the next one. Because both people had parts in it..Hopefully this will never repeat..and if we make a mistake it will a new one ,another lesson of learning .I agree sharing past experiences about anyone in a negative way..is not good.in inner child they told us to bury it..

    I’m new to your channel and I’ve purchased recently just about every book you’ve recommended (hundreds of dollars worth). I’ve listened to countless videos and I appreciate your content. At :55 I stopped this clip to tell you this: My mother all my life claimed to be a realist, but she in fact was a pessimist. I can back this up with stories, but I won’t do this. You are absolutely NOT a pessimist. You are in fact a realist. As a matter of fact, I wish you would consider taking up painting and studying Realistic Art. There just no telling what might flow from you that would reach other people on a deeper level. In the Christian realm, we do prophetic painting, and so do the demonic, so why can’t you.

    Awesome video! Only thing I don't agree with is being that much of a stickler about being on time - especially in areas like LA and high traffic areas. I'm a therapist with ADD and I can tell you, many people with ADD have executive functioning challenges and managing time is a big challenge. Even budgeting for traffic doesn't always help. No, it doesn't mean I don't respect you if I'm late. It means I suck at figuring out how long it's going to take to get ready and get to the destination. For people who don't have executive functioning challenges, they just don't understand this. This is very different than someone who is wrapped up in themselves and doesn't care if they keep people waiting, or someone who is lazy and careless and thoughtless. That is not at all what I'm talking about. It's all about intention! PS thanks for turning the volume up!

      If you had to collect a $1million lottery ticket and if you were one minute late you would lose the money... would you make sure you're on time? It's a matter of respect and perception in my humble opinion. With that said, being courtesy and letting a person know you would be late is par for the course.

    • @stephanies6770
      @stephanies6770 2 роки тому +1

      Sage, l agree. I’m virtually always late for everything. Easily distracted by the smallest of things, I will stop and chat with a neighbor without any concept that I’m running late.
      If a man can’t wait 10 minutes for me to arrive, then he can go. I consider myself a “high value” woman, and I am worth the wait.

    • @sagedakotalmft7763
      @sagedakotalmft7763 2 роки тому

      @@JonathonAslay Yes it is. However, if stuck in traffic there is no safe way to do that. Can't text or dial safely. As for the lottery ticket scenario, I would probably show up 2 hours early. But that wouldn't make sense to try and do that with a date. And yes, I've missed plane flights before too, and that's an expensive mistake!

    It’s a cultural problem because people have forgotten that dating = vetting for compatibility, not just anyone who happens to be available! People don’t talk about compatibility, or make the effort to know and accept themselves deeply enough to know, identify, and then call forth their perfect match. Healthy, happy, fulfilling relationships are 100% possible but only after committing to the compassion and protection of one’s truth and nature, and then honoring that of another vs the “I can change him” mentality.

    Jonathan I’ve been following your podcast for the past six months. I have learned so much and have read some of your recommendations. Today I watched a podcast about 3 things a guy will do when he is falling in love with you. In the podcast you revealed your dating profile. It was obviously a previously run podcast as you have shared your happy news of having formed a relationship. I’m wondering why someone who promotes self love chose to put up obviously old pics on his dating profile. Even your podcast pics show you from years back. Theses pics don’t show you today as a 60 yr old man. We have to live on our self as we age. When I was on the dating sites that was my biggest pet peeve. Men who put up old pics. They showed me their 40yr old self in pics and then I would meet the reality a 60 yr old man.
    My pics were always as I looked in current time. Why can’t you put up pic as you look today??? This would be radical honesty as you preach. Enough said! Love all your sags, wrinkles and be your true self!

    Hi Jonathon
    I tried online dating but the risk is you are chatting to the mask of human being and not the real deal as how do you assess the vibe and the truth when you can not see there face, eyes and body signals...
    I'm interested in reality by meeting face to face... As I can tell within the meeting if there is a click. Not chemistry... But click... Chemistry is lust-fulness...
    If the dating profile is jumbled up, mismatched then what are you getting...?!
    7 pointers to class is the simple math... x
