    Cleaning cast iron is a lot of work but the end result is always so rewarding...until the hours of reseasoning

    Cleaning cast iron is so satisfying. LOL. We only ever use animal fats on ours, and haven’t had an issue of it going rancid- yet! 😅 Great video!

    good morning sister :) and thank you for a lovely video 🥰 I never clean my pan in soap or something, just hot water and a brush. And that i do after every time I have used the pan. And after that dry it with clean papertowel. It keeps clean and ready to use. Thank you for new tips 🙃 love your videos and your sparkling smile . God bless!

    You only have to heat the pan up until the oil starts to smoke. That is the point at which the polycarbonate starts forming. After that, prolonged time is just wasting energy.
    Lightly oil, heat up to smoking point, let go for a minute or two, then off the heat it goes. One layer done. Repeat as often as desired. An hour in the oven at 500F is just silly.

    Outstanding video Jaylea! I use the Pioneer Woman and Victoria cast iron, both are incredible pans! Victoria pre-seasons their cast iron with flax seed, they do caution only 2 or 3 layers at most of flax seed, as it gets brittle and flakes if more is used, they just recommend to use another oil for seasoning/cooking. I did use a chain mail scrubber on a Victoria, I was shocked how abrasive they are, I saw gray iron only using minimal pressure and was not attempting to get that deep into the seasoning...lesson learned. I use Canola oil, dieticians say it has the best fat profile of any edible cooking oil made. God bless! =)

      Victoria is a great brand!
      I can’t in good conscience let you go without warning you against the dangers of oils like canola. Here’s a video I did for more info if you are interested.

    I use coconut oil after each use. Never smells or tastes like it

      Interesting! I’ve never tried using coconut oil. I’ll give it a shot next time.

    Whenever I use my cast-iron pan and wipe it clean, I always get a black residue

    • @faithandarrowhomestead
      @faithandarrowhomestead  Місяць тому

      Yes that is completely normal! That’s just the residue of whatever oil was last used in the pan.
