What kind of secundary gun of the Satzuma deals more than 7k Damage to kill the Halland at the end? That must have been a critical hit of all 3 shells from a 203 mm turret!
@@Matias-ee9zy Satsuma don't need no HE, the AP has so ridiculous alpha that I've never switched to HE. And the torpedo protection on the Satsuma is bullshit as well, something like 50%+ so a Halland can only do about 50k dmg if it hits all torps.
@@Matias-ee9zy I also disagree, HE damage dealt by bbs to dds is capped while AP damage is 10% of Alpha damage which is massive. Also Halland would have needed to Hit Front and Back perfectly For max damage, because the Alpha Trop damage does Not kill satsuma against the belt and He saturated the Front with 2 full vollays. The Halland would have needed 2 full Attack Runs to kill the Satsuma either way! It was very calculated, though yes He forgot the spotter plane multiple Times during the game

With Heavy AP Satsuma AP does about 2000 on DDs, while HE does 2700, assuming you dont hit superstructure, torpedo tubes, or turrets, and the hull section you hit is unsaturated. Otherwise that 2700 goes down to 1350 (half sat) or even 810(full sat), only about half as much as AP overpen. With the poor vertical dispersion on Satsuma, guaranteeing hits on specific sections of a DD is almost impossible, and that's why you should always use AP. All battleships except for conqueror-like ships suffer from this, but Satsuma is an extreme example due to the huge gap between HE and AP damage, to the point where HE is completely worthless. You could argue for using the HE to knock out torp tubes in this specific situation, but that could also be a futile attempt as the halland definitely has a ready DCP, and you won't be able to perma either of the torpedo tubes with the low HE alpha - again, poor vertical dispersion so your shell will go literally everywhere.
