Always enjoy your stuff. These people drive me nuts. They aren't new. Many years ago I was driving my mom's car on an errand. Sitting at a red light. I was around 18. Light turned green. I pulled away. Another car flew out of driveway to my right just on other side of intersection. I sat on brakes to keep from hitting them. Car behind me didn't even slow down and hit me from behind. I climbed out to check damage. Driver of SAAB that hit me piled out and started yelling at me. Why did I stop? Her kids were crying; I better hope they weren't hurt. Did I have a license? Whose car was it? Did I know who she was (not a clue, but member of state legislature)? The police were going to believe her. At which point I said something like, Lady, it doesn't matter why I stopped. Somebody in the store had called the police and I could hear them coming. I had two witnesses who had stuck around. Unfortunately we were all white and the black SAAB driver told the young black policeman that we were ganging up on her racially. That made him mad at her. She tried to drive away, and he called backup. She was arrested. She went to the newspaper and claimed I was some kind of racist. She demanded a jury trial and lost very quickly to a largely minority jury. The judge fined her a bunch of money for resisting arrest. This was circa 1971. Karen.
