Today we once again take out the Soviet Alfa class submarine on elite into the Soviet modded campaign for a few laughs on stream.
I hope you enjoy!
Note: I'm playing an Alfa on Elite, That is to say an Alfa that is already pretty much blind that gets a 25% reduction in sonar performance (both active and passive) due to the difficulty level. I don't care if I'm detected, I don't care if I'm spotted and I don't care that I'm not playing the game "right" in your opinion.

20:00 You had broached, so the Essex was able to engage with cannon fire. Hence the unexpected range, and lack of underwater explosions, of the depth charges.
Somehow I am still more a mused by Jingles bottoming out while being flooded, then proceeding to drive backwards up a hill achieve neutral buoyancy then reverse the sub before it starts sinking and get to the surface.
Only Rear Admiral Jingles could pull off a Jingles Landing in a sub
What an awesome and also funny episode with Alfa! When the Alfa was making a turn to reach the Essex's baffle, a flashback from the Hunt for Red October popped into my head:
(Towards the end of the final battle: Konovalov nimbly turned into the Red October's baffle.)

The Alfa "landing" on the Essex at the end was the most awesome segment of this video. Now, we have Top Gun Magz!

My Grandfather served on the USS Hornet in the 1960's hunting subs in the pacific.
My father served on a Knox class frigate in the 80s in the Mediterranean. Gives me shivers every time Magz sinks one
I was a volunteer aboard Hornet for a while in ship maintenance! I'd love to know where your grandfather served on the ship. Have you been out to see her?
No I have not seen her but would love to. He was part of the radio maintenance crew.
That's great, thanks for the reply! If he's still around and able to travel it could be a great present for him to see her again. Many of the communications spaces are restored and open to the public and she has her own ham radio group aboard now.
Please classify which Hornet (the on you're talking about is CV-12), some people might get it confused with CV-8 (CV-8 sank during the battle of Santa Cruz while CV-12 is now a retired musuem ship)

Awesome. This is as good or better than Jingles backing one off the bottom.
And I prefer the edited versions. The live stream with the conversations answering questions from those on the stream seem almost distracting at times. I like the edited versions because you're real good at letting viewers in on your thought process behind your actions. Not just "I'm doing this", but "I'm doing this because......".

Is pushing with Essex Class a new form of Zerg Rush the AI has latched upon? Seems...expensive.
Magz, I thought ships do sonar pinging in general, not because they think you are there, but because they assume you are always there, and always have a head start in terms of detection.
I think i will go and get SH3 out off my dusty shelf.

QualifiedESA Engineer Mainly due to hull vibrations that could potentially rip the hull apart, but also because any navy could mass produce a torpedo capable of reaching 3x those speeds.. and fire hundreds of them into the water if need be.
To put it bluntly.. stealth is the only viable tactic. Unless we're talking about unmanned subs

I'm wondering if there's a bug in cold waters right now where ships won't launch helicopters. I noticed in my unmodded campaign I rarely saw helos as well.
Veggimite like Marmite are classified as Biological weapons by the EU and therefore outlawed m8 xD.
Honestly, as long as you release cold waters videos, I don't care what style they're in. I would like to see you actually finish some campaigns though, especially the US 1984 and 68 campaigns.

(tip: flying Pe-8 with maxed out gunner skills in Enduring Confrontation is funny as hell, I get 2-3 air kills per flight while dropping 5 ton bomb wiping out everything , it would make great vid too)

Hey MagZ, would prefer the edited one, found myself skipping a lot of this to get rid of the waiting (in the edited ones, waiting is tense, in this it's boring), and I didn't even finish the other video.
I appreciate you gotta do what you enjoy and do what you need to do to get money now UA-cam isn't paying up, but if I wanted to watch an unedited video I'd watch your twitch stream directly.
TBH I like both styles equally, but this probably requires a lot less effort.

What's the mod you're using for the GUI? Being able to set headings and depths in Cold Waters would be exceedingly useful.
That's not a mod, it was added to the vanilla game months ago.

I know this is three years old, but it's a part of the Playable Subs and More mod. Not sure if Epicmod or Dotmod have the same functionality

Are the models for the American Ships actually what they look like or is this mod using the already existing Soviet Ship models?
All Cold Waters mods use existing models, as modders don't yet have the ability to add new ones. The Essex is using a Kiev-class carrier model, I believe.
Did you use shkval 200 knots torpedoes?

Edited. Not a big fan of watching re-heated content from the live stream. I believe Twitch has its own VOD service where one can watch this kind of videos.
Would prefer if you actually finish a campaign instead of starting new ones.
My first campaign ended with the loss of the Boston, My 1968 campaign is still on going with a new video planned later for this week and this was a live stream I did for twitch designed to have a stacked deck against me that would prevent a lot of my normal sneaky play that would ultimately result in the loss of the Alfa.
So I'm not sure what you mean, At this point there are no campaigns I haven't finished on the channel.

I think he's decided to end the story arc with the sinking of the sub to allow him to end that series with some decent closure and move on to trying out/showing other content.
You haven't finished your Long Dark story and when you lost your Boston you get the option I think to just get a new ship and continue.
I find it weird how the aircraft carrier sent no aircraft maybe it's not implemented or something the reason I haven't followed you on twitch is because you on the other side of the world to me so I am in bed when it's like morning for you and night for me
