Hey Boba, been commenting and discussing the Reverse Kingdom Come theory since day 1 or close to day 1 too. I discussed the whole JSA legacies thing a lot as well if you remember. I still stand by Clark being Superman for at least 5 years (starts at 25, currently 30 as confirmed) and I do think James Gunn's new comment can actually support it. He mentioned how even though metahumans have existed since WWII, they've increased and are a lot bigger and more of a problem now. This fits with Superman still being the first hero of the current heroic age which a lot of Superman writers like Grant Morrison and Mark Waid (both people James have taken inspiration from through their works and talked to and about) emphasize as important. This fits with him already being the biggest most well-known and popular hero of Metropolis too. The Golden Age started with the JSA, at some point they disbanded like in comics (especially New Frontier), then the Silver Age started with Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, Ted Kord and likely Barry Allen (who started it IRL) but it never took off as well as the GA. Then Superman starts the new Bronze/Modern age expansion. Honestly I almost lean to the possibility of 8 years now too. In My Adventures with Superman, Clark started as Superman and a cub reporter at 22. But some gap years before 25 fits. At the end of the day, long term this is still a very young Superman compared to comics Superman who IRL has 80 years of history and currently in-universe has over 20 years of history. For example, in Mark Waid's current World's Finest run set in the past, Dick Grayson is still Robin but already well-experienced with both Clark and Bruce but Jon is explicitly said to not be born yet as confirmed. So in the DCU, the end goal for a veteran Superman is still far away.
Wow boba great informational video . Bro I can’t wait for the Batman 2 and brace and the bold … I’m such a Batman fanboy true and through .. I can’t wait .
I vibe with what Gunn said about cannonicity. I’m so burnt out on keeping track of multiverses and what connects to what that I genuinely don’t care to question how minor things fit together anymore, I just want to watch a good story. I think people take canon way too seriously these days, like if the thing itself is good then why should it matter so much?
My guess for the next projects are the ones reported in the trades... Titans, blue beetle, deathstroke and bane, and sergeant rock. And, my guess for Gunn's next project is the authority Hehehe could be wrong, but just wanna share 😁😁
Some of us said years ago that if they continue this, he was going to keep the people that he worked with not the people he did not work with. It ain’t just folks who work with Zach not coming back. It’s other directors as well. It’s basically the David Ayer and James Gunn universe minus David Ayer . I’m one of the people who want Zach to finish his story in a elseworlds .
If the JL will be retconned out of the ending of Peacemaker...will the ending in its entirety be removed or will they be replaced with another team? The Creature Commandos? The Suicide Squad? a sole character?
I still keep seeing people say that Peacemaker will travel from the DCEU to the DCU and that will explain the changes in canon. But i don't think that will be the case, i think we will just have to act like it was the DCU all along since it doesn't really contradict anything
That strategy works for me. I think a lot of canon interconnectivity was used to sell under-baked movies by associating them as closely as possible with stuff we already liked. Trying to shore up the failing MCU by endlessly calling back to its past glories ended up dragging down the overall success of the franchise, rather than keeping it going. So to me, whatever anyone feels about the DCEU, I think it's best to just leave those films alone, let them stand on their own, and look forward rather than back. Let's just watch the movies we're watching, and not worry about what did or didn't happen in previous movies.
@rottensquid 100% agreed, also you know how the Snyder fans are. If you say he is from the DCEU then they would be like oh "Superman may have crossed over too!", "Now they can continue it on netflix!". They would think the DCEU is still alive. It's much much better to leave it in the past for good, no multiverse shenanigans
I really want to see an area of Focus and Identity for DCU, For DCU films 🎥Focus on Families (Superman, Supergirl) For DCU Series (HBO) Focus On Adults But still have Mature Themes for Both Films 🎥 and Series!
Boba great video as always and I agree with your reverse Kingdom come theory. Also what Rated R DCU films would you like to see? I am sure the Authority will be R rated and I hope Swampthing will be as well, but I would also like to see a R rated RedHood ,Justice league Dark and at some point in the future Blackest Night! I also feel like Gunn is going to be directing the authority because like you said it’s right up his alley.
im really happy hearing how james will be approaching the DCU im more glad than i am upset at is comments on the continuity, i agree entirely. too many movies these days are made so fast just for the sake of a deadline that they dont have room to be fully fleshed out anymore. even more happy with gun than i was before
I believe Gunn tried to convey that one should not limit their creation choices by the "canon", as long as the story is good, it can be done. I.e. last Batman seems to occur in a separate timeline
I remember the Reverse Kingdom Come Theory. By far one of my favorite theories I have ever seen. From one of my favorite DC elseworld stories. If this is what James Gunn is going for I am excited to see how he executes it. Edit: True Detective was amazing. And Green Lanterns are space cops no matter how you cut the cake. So it is both fantastical and grounded. I love this. Edit 2: I would love to see what James can do with a Dead Man animated series tbh. And also, we had magic throughout CW's Legends of Tomorrow, though admittedly the movies have sort of snubbed it.
You can’t just retcon out a DCEU justice league cameo 😂 OHHH yeah that thing that we showed years ago, umm well yeah, just ignore it and go watch the interviews. Now if you were good at your job you’d know that James Gunn has confirmed that the continuity change is going to be acknowledged in Peacemaker S2.
Yes you can, comics have had this happen many times. And it's very funny that you put that last part, as I've discussed James Gunn talking about how Peacemaker S2 will address the change over a dozen times.
This is great! Love how you really dug into all of these various points. So much food for thought. Just wanted to say that I really respect Gunn's philosophy of putting the scripts (and therefore, the writers) first. Since he himself is a writer, I can see how important it would be to him. Love that about his approach. As for what Gunn tackles next, I would love it if he wrote the Authority movie. There's a really specific and subtle mix of humor and political commentary that I think Gunn could really nail. Whoever writes it really needs to understand both the vibe and the point of where the world was when those stories came out. The Authority is often compared to The Boys, but other than the fact that there is political commentary in the stories, I don't see them being that similar. There's also the fact that the Authority came out 25 years ago, and many things in the world have changed since then. Will they have an Authority that takes place in the late 90s/early 00s, or will they update it to take place now? If it's the latter, then that really changes the undertone and the kind of stories that might be told. I'm just so curious about where they will take it, because navigating the politics of it all is going to be a big decision they will have to make, before they decide anything else.
What have you seen Brandon Skelnar in to convince you? The guy has got literal bot-farms campaigning for him. It's crazy. I'm not saying you and Blake Lively are bots.. but the evidence is there on both youtube and instagram. Its certainly one way to get the gig I suppose
He never said it 'changed', he just realised after it was all locked in that the better title was purely 'SUPERMAN'. Either way, I still think the original title was a somewhat link to the 'legacy' Superman will bring to the present day DCU & it's heroes with regards to the state of heroes/metahumans/reverse-Kingdom Come theory.
I'll agree with you that he didn't use that word. A better word would be 'evolved'. His first draft was titled 'Superman: Legacy'. By the time he finished his final draft, the story changed - my word - enough that it was decided the title of the movie should be trimmed down to just 'Superman'. I'm not one of those "James Gunn is a liar" losers, who only reads headlines and immediately hate-Tweets, but, honestly, the title change may have come from executives above him at Warner Bros. The way he worded his IG post, it's not clear who changed the title or specifically why it was changed. No big deal, as it seems you were pretty spot-on from the beginning about most everything else. ✌🏻
I cant wait for superman movie, im dreading the end of superman and lois, but really looking forward for a whole universe and see other characters get projects that wouldnt normally
It would be fun to see Corenswet smash caville's Superman to bits, but I just think not enough people care about the Snyderverse to warrant it. I think it would leave general audiences confused as they wouldn't know who those characters were and wouldn't care.
@@levimiller9367 I don't think so. The Snyderverse failed to make any lasting cultural impact. The only thing it's known for is "Martha". And that's based on a misunderstanding of what the actual content was. Just about the only characters I think people would recognize are Harley Quinn and Peacemaker. And I say that as a big fan of the first Shazam.
I am fine with Gunn's vision, my problem is the way Gunn and Saffran just axed the DCEU, instead of leading us into it with the last of the DCEU we were expecting, The Flash should have been a perfect joiner movie to make the change, but that was botched then they do dirty on the actors we already had, it is always going to be a sore point for me, this new Superman was coming we know this, but the change was far from smooth and far from well done. so good luck with this movie and I hope it is not going to be like a Mavel Movie with a DC skin.
I hope they leave run to pivot and keep things fresh and not too predictable. one thing is for sure is that James Gunn makes his characters worth being invested
We care very little about canon and continuity in comics. It's nice for reference but it's more about the individual stories told about well curated characters. These characters have all had so may artists work on them and it never get's in the way of enjoying them. what matters is, Is it a good story or not, is it true to character or not, is it visually appealing, and does it explore new ideas or not.
I’m hoping that the universe will still be enjoyable for kids also I don’t think my 8 year old nephew is going to enjoy a Green Lantern show inspired by true detective. I understand dipping into different Ratings but I really like how the MCU understood that they were entertaining two different fanbases both adults and kids.
I’m thinking that he could drop trailer during the Super Bowl like marvel did with Deadpool and Wolverine which could also mean maybe and this is a hard maybe we might get a fantastic 4 trailer during the Super Bowl also but if Gunn doesn’t drop the trailer during the Super Bowl maybe he’ll wait for dates like he did this year like Superman’s birthday feb 29 or other dates significant to Superman
I hope gunns next project is LOBO r rated gurdians/fifth element style bounty hunt across the galaxy could really expand the dcu and introduce the other worldly characters
Just a question, I've been feeling as though they should have cast a bigger name for Lex Luthor (preferably an oscar winner or a nominee) to bring more prestige and eyes to the movie. Don't get me wrong, I believe Hoult will do a great job and he's a well known actor but I don't know, maybe they should gone the route of casting an oscar winner or nominee kinda like Gene Hackman
Idk much about Sgt. Rock and I'm not surprised that they're trying to do some projects that won't cost nearly as much and should be fast to film. That being said, idk how many "grounded" projects I wanna see
When your pc gives you that glimmer of hope that it os going well. Make sure to create a Restore Point and back up your pc onto a USB external boot drive. Trust me it'll save your life.

How long would a CC episode be?
My guess for the next projects are the ones reported in the trades... Titans, blue beetle, deathstroke and bane, and sergeant rock.
And, my guess for Gunn's next project is the authority
Hehehe could be wrong, but just wanna share 😁😁
This was interesting and reassuring. I'm glad that it seems like Gunn cares
What if James drops the trailer on the 46th anniversary of Superman the movie
Ahhh 🙏🙏🙏 been waiting for this 😋
4:13 idk Superman seems like a Super Bowl thing
Some of us said years ago that if they continue this, he was going to keep the people that he worked with not the people he did not work with. It ain’t just folks who work with Zach not coming back. It’s other directors as well. It’s basically the David Ayer and James Gunn universe minus David Ayer . I’m one of the people who want Zach to finish his story in a elseworlds .
Somehow didn’t know you were getting married. Congratulations man! Any chance we’re getting a The Batman 2 discussion video soon?
Awesome video Boba! thanks
If the JL will be retconned out of the ending of Peacemaker...will the ending in its entirety be removed or will they be replaced with another team? The Creature Commandos? The Suicide Squad? a sole character?
It'll more likely be Peacemaker is hallucinating, he may have this complex in which he'll hallucinate.
I could see them being replaced by the suicide Squad. It would be nice to see idris elba and margot robbie again.
@@prathapkutty7407 Sorry but i don't think we have the suicide Squad in DCU we have the M Squad
@@michaelkaggwa4915 M Squad?
@@prathapkutty7407 M for Monster ( Monsters in CC ) and the first chapter for DCU is Gods and Monsters
I think that we will be getting the introduction of Jenny Sparks or the whole Authority during creature commandos
I really want to see an area of Focus and Identity for DCU,
For DCU films 🎥Focus on Families (Superman, Supergirl)
For DCU Series (HBO) Focus On Adults
But still have Mature Themes for Both Films 🎥 and Series!
I also feel like Gunn is going to be directing the authority because like you said it’s right up his alley.
im really happy hearing how james will be approaching the DCU
im more glad than i am upset at is comments on the continuity, i agree entirely. too many movies these days are made so fast just for the sake of a deadline that they dont have room to be fully fleshed out anymore.
even more happy with gun than i was before
All I’m going to say as a Hardcore DC fan there have been ups and many downs and I’m feeling very hopeful for the new DCU !!!
I believe Gunn tried to convey that one should not limit their creation choices by the "canon", as long as the story is good, it can be done. I.e. last Batman seems to occur in a separate timeline
Good coverage on all this news, Boba.
It's a rebooted universe bozo
Remember what he said, bro.
He dropped the "Legacy" from the title because the story he wanted to tell changed enough that it no longer fit.
✌🏻
@@BobaTalks So the "legacy" Title was a spoiler!
I cant wait for superman movie, im dreading the end of superman and lois, but really looking forward for a whole universe and see other characters get projects that wouldnt normally
Watching From Kenya
I was kinda hoping they would make the old dcu earth 2. Mostly because I could see cornsweat going up against cavill who is superman prime.
It would be fun to see Corenswet smash caville's Superman to bits, but I just think not enough people care about the Snyderverse to warrant it. I think it would leave general audiences confused as they wouldn't know who those characters were and wouldn't care.
@ that’s definitely a WILD take
@@levimiller9367 I don't think so.
@@xuxuang8574 that’s also a WILD take
@levimiller9367 How?
Haha love how you put the sgt rock News
I hope they leave run to pivot and keep things fresh and not too predictable. one thing is for sure is that James Gunn makes his characters worth being invested
Daniel creig is going to Be in DCU
Here we go!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Keep up the good work boba ❤🎉
An r rated animated movie or series based on darkseid's origin would go so hard
We care very little about canon and continuity in comics. It's nice for reference but it's more about the individual stories told about well curated characters. These characters have all had so may artists work on them and it never get's in the way of enjoying them. what matters is, Is it a good story or not, is it true to character or not, is it visually appealing, and does it explore new ideas or not.
Am I the only one who still hasn't registered that Clayface is in the DCU
Chris Mundy, Tom King and Damon Lindelof.
Daniel Craig is such a great casting fof Stg. Rock, I can't believe I've never thought of that!
Boba, you're literally the best ❤
Congrats and best wishes for your wedding, friend!
It amazes me that people care so much what is cannon and what isn’t
Maybe the trailer will be released for the game awards 🤔
that would be a cool suprise
i feel it's going to be a floating timeline thing where everything both did and didn't happen
I want a The Question Tv show so baaaaaad.
He could be on the screen but not in person.
Gunn should do Blood Syndicate
james gunn dcu No love I can’t believe this because James Gunn shut down Dceu comic
That being said, idk how many "grounded" projects I wanna see
Perfect response from Gunn (re: canon).
Congrats to being a soon to be newly wed!!!
Lucas Bravo and Brandon skelnar as BATMAN
When your pc gives you that glimmer of hope that it os going well. Make sure to create a Restore Point and back up your pc onto a USB external boot drive. Trust me it'll save your life.
They could always explore origin stories on MAX ala “the Penguin” congrats on the wedding!!!🎉
I want there to be a legion series ....😊
6:17 it sounds exactly like Star Wars when they recanonized old projects that were legends or turning legends lore into current canon
Really not that hard to understand I get it completely
I think Gunn will release the trailer in the new year
i predict that parallax will take control of hal jordan in Lanterns.
Which video game is that… it shows awesome animation of Batman, Wonder Woman, etc.
Batman is in creature commandoes it has leaked already
@phantom1122334455films are you sure? which actor?
Where it leaked?
He made GOTG a household name. What do you think he’ll do with an A Lister like superman 😂
