Zane was an amazing talent when he was 9 years old …..Junior members weren’t allowed to join Woodcote park until the age of 13 but the club changed the rules for him to join …he was amazing . His presence drove the junior section forward he was and still is a great ambassador for golf .
I must admit that I had never heard of Zane before this interview, but found it one of the most interesting listens in recent months( and you have had some cracking guests recently) loved his calm laid back approach to his coaching abilities. Top work guys 👍
Superb pod! Zane's a really interesting guy, amazing to see where he has come from a 16 year old qualifying for the open and just taking it in his stride seemingly unaware of the magnitude of it all through to all the things has and continues to achieve in golf. Fascinating stuff!
great interview, thoroughly enjoyed listening and watching this, favourite videos when you get guests on and talk about tour life, cant wait for the next one :)
I played in the group behind zane at downfield GC in 1999 he played with Robert Allenby and the buzz around his group was ace ⛳️⛳️👍👍👍seems like yesterday 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Really like Zane Scotland, I vaguely remember him being one of the next big things and the car crash story. I believe he was once hickory champion or possibly his brother, yet another story he could give!
Very interesting about people taking up golf.....6 months ago I thought golf spoilt a good walk! Now I’m down the range, playing different courses, subscribing to UA-cam vloggers.....and soaking up everything I can to get better. Another great interview.....well done all
What a guy - love the back-story of Zane and enjoyed playing golf with his dad many years ago - great ambassadors of the modern game of golf 👏🏼👏🏼
Great interview fellas!! What a great guy! Love to hear down to earth, humble guys just chatting!! Very relatable chap!!
Thanks again. What a great way to spend my morning drive with a big smile in my face. While golfing is mentally challenging it is also extremely therapeutic.
Epic interview.... Come on guys surely you've managed to pin down tiger now or is the podcast to high end now 😉😉😉
I love your conversation about coaching. I am a baseball coach/private instructor in the US and there is a lot of similarities in the coaching world for the two sports. I have also questioned why does golf require coaches to have a PGA certification when other sports don't require that? If you can teach it and connect with students, what does it matter? Anyways, great show as always.
Really enjoyed listening to this, I was at Carnoustie 1999 and remember seeing Zane on the practice green with his coach in deep conversation, as I watched him play abit that week I was thinking "this guy is the same age as me and so far ahead of me in every department of the game"
Great interview. Comes across as a really nice guy with a good story to tell.
Brilliant interview! Zane has the perfect attitude and personality to be an amazing ambassador for the game. Great Job Rick for continuing to bring such high quality content to the air.
I love the fans of Rick and Guy because they’ll give someone who’s not as big of a name as a Faldo or Bryson the same ear and still enjoy the interview just as I did, great conversation.
wow, started nicely and built up and up - that is one of the best I've seen, well played guys
Brilliant. Top bloke. Great interview. Thanks all
Really enjoyed that. Zane is seriously refreshing and a clearly humble guy loaded with talent. Great guest and interesting to listen to…top lad 👌
Loved this. Zane is such a cool guy, this is up there with the Inci interview.
Really enjoyed this - Zane came across very well, down to earth, realistic - good luck to him with everything! These recent podcasts have been excellent - talking to players who are either at, or have been at, the top end of the game (Tommy Fleetwood, Nick Faldo, Viktor Hovland), as well as those who've had a sniff of it, but haven't quite made the very top (Zane, James Robinson etc). Very interesting to hear the perspective from guys like Zane/James, who are clearly superb golfers, but have been through the mill of Q school, as well as the pressure of trying to make ends meet in a tough world. Would be interesting to hear from Eddie Pepperell - he's certainly had his ups and downs, and is a very articulate guy.
Gents, this is great content, I could listen to these podcasts all day! Really interesting guests and brilliantly facilitated interviews, keep it up!!
I know I'm late in seeing this episode but, I have to say sooooo glad I didn't miss it. It was thoroughly entertaining and insightful from Zane's perspective. Liked his take on inclusion " no need to squeeze in at the table...make the table bigger..👋👋 What do you mean Rick you couldn't do live TV??? C'mon that's selling yourself short
Fantastic interview! I honestly wish it would've been longer as crazy as that might sound! I feel like Zane has loads of incredible stories to tell. I also really appreciate how he's pushing to grow the game! And not simply from a race stand point but I would also love to see more women of all races playing this ridiculously frustrating but incredibly rewarding game! Will definitely be following his social media closely!
Brilliant entertaining guest, it’s great hearing Zane’s early golf stories to where he is now. 👍
Talking about links between driving ranges and full on golf - I think we need more 9 hole courses that have a mix of par 3, 4 & 5's (that aren't too long). Great for newcommers, great for juniors and great for a family looking for a couple of hours of golfing fun!
Robert Allenby probably tells a different story. Not his fault he left early, he was most likely drugged, abducted & beaten....again.
Great interview guys, I have been fortunate enough to play with Zane at his club, I though he was a great guy then but didn't know this. Wow! Bernie, going to have to get another game in 😉
The example of Zane wearing a cap backwards is classic. It’s as daft as not wearing the ‘correct’ colour socks and shorts. I remember my little club as a junior was so strict on the slightest little thing. Got to play sawgrass on holiday and could wear anything I wanted in the clubhouse. Even a hat in the clubhouse! Also some clubs didn’t allow the collarless shirts that tiger started wearing in the 00’s. Imagine that- not being allowed to wear the same clothes as the best player in the world at a poxy little unknown golf club.
What a humble bloke..well structured podcast…loved it ❤️
At charity tournaments I’ve played, the longest drive winner always got a putter. I think there was a longest putt, and that winner got a driver. I won longest drive at a family outing, but I think all I got was a beer.
Great Incite to the tours and coming up through the ranks and behind the scenes,
Amazing interview, what a fantastic insight, get him out on the is for a course vlog Rick!
Another top quality guest and podcast guys - you are really smashing it out of the park / range! 🤣🤣🤣
Another amazing podcast with a fantastic guest great insight into Zane's world brilliant thanks Zane, Rick and Guy brilliant as always
Great interview. What an absolute legend.
Great podcast! What was the tv show that Zane talked about... Where the beginning golfers got lessons and then had a competition at the end? I want to watch that!
You can find most of the content here:ua-cam.com/video/wdMr-7H9w9w/v-deo.html
@@coachndovu thank you!
You’re smashing it with these guests right now. 👏🏻👏🏻
I could not care less what other golfers wear whilst playing - pop on a pair of speedos as far as I'm concerned... as long as you; repair your divots and pitch marks, wave groups through when looking for lost balls, don't mark your card on the green, shout fore when necessary and be quiet when other players are taking their shots.
Common sense goes along way 👍 well said 👏
What a legend Zane is… compelling watch and Rick on Sky Sports……??? Watch this space !!!
Imagine if Tiger is able to even play and somehow gets on the leaderboard. He really gets pumped up for the masters.
I used to watch Zane Scotland on the European Tour. What happened to him? Thanks Rick for bringing him out.
Good Morning All, I was looking forward to this!
Superb. Great insight!👍🏻
Awsome podcast again , love to here these stories of coaches en players
Great interview name from the near past but a great endorsement for golf. magic
Great interview ( apart from guy incessantly playing with the mic as usual 😉)..Zane is a cool guy with lots of experience and stories..enjoyed it..cheers Rick ( and Guy you flipping fidget😁)
Love these interviews, question how can I get a Rick Shiels headcover?
Really good listen!
What a great guy and podcast
Great stories!!!!
What a top bloke. Another belter chaps
A great insight into the game from many angles
Zane is such a cool dude. If he was anymore laid back he'd fall over. Great interview 👏
Knew the name but not his story. Really interesting. Desperate to know the story he started about Paul Lawrie in Open qualifying for the 1999 Open. Paul would be a great guest actually.
Great video, loved hearing what it was like qualifying I would’ve loved to know what he did actually score at Carnoustie
Carnarstie 😂😂😂😂
Best podcast yet
Brilliant story
Great podcast guys, Zane was class
What's wrong with being a Topgolf golfer? They have many games to play to help golfers excel. Topgolf should be the entity building 6 hole courses and other pitch and putt courses on which to play and learn the game. Perhaps one of the problems facing the issue of inclusion in golf is the number of affordable, public courses on which people can play. In America we have more public courses than private clubs...I do not know about the UK but minorities probably feel intimidated and not welcome at most private clubs. Great discussion about a current topic.
Top podcast and guest.
Another great show .
This podcast is awesome.
Great episode this one!
You seem to one up yourselves every episode. Great video and very insightful.
I thought the Nick Faldo Podcast was good, but wow. I had forgotten about Zane, which is terrible. Hearing him talk about the early year and mentioning the not so glamorous side was great. Please get him on the course. Who's next I think someone from the europro or challenge who are at the start of their careers and their challenges.
Such a cool story
This was really cool :)
This interview shows the discord in golf, when he spoke of the story about the hat backwards and Rick couldn't even speak on the topic, he just started rambling about nothing.
For all of golf's governing bodies talk of "growing the game" they sure love to prevent it from happening, they gate keep so much that they drive many away. They only allow the game to grow on their terms rather than adjusting to the times.
I'm all for growing the game and having every walk of life playing the game. I just don't like how greens fees are exploding out of reach. That part frustrates me because its starting to price me out of nice facilities because of this.
Me to i cant believe how expensive golf has become
Zane speaks a little bit too fast for me, sorry guys. Cheers from Germany
Morning folks
I want EVERYONE to play golf. I don't want golfers to start playing on courses who have no respect for the rules of golf. Particularly golf etiquette. Many golfers play music from the carts and is only loud enough to be heard when nearby. I am starting to see carts next to greens or sand traps or approach areas. We all might get a little loud with an exciting birdie. But, being loud cause that's them "being themselves" ain't cool. Don't get me going regarding divots and ball marks. Sorry for the rant. Thank you for the great interview.
If Rick had a grey beard 🤔😂
Would be great for you guys to do a video together.
I disagree about the racism In golf. It's the cost of everything that keeps people out
Mustard?
🙏🙏🙏👏👏👏👏🔥
I found this the most boring one yet sorry to say. Doesn’t mean I won’t carry on tuning in! Was still better than the radio lol
👍✌📯⛳
REALLY ?
Love the podcasts but Guy needs to speak less unless his voice breaks and is less Northern
Who? 😂
