That little museum was very interesting. Thanks for taking the time to show us around. That water looked so tempting...would have put my equipment down on the picnic table and jumped in for a quick dip!
I've been watching your videos for a couple of years now and I must say this is one of my all time favorites. The overwhelming beauty of the water comes through the camera, so I could truly identify when you talked about the emotions that you felt. This was truly at treat. Thank you!
That wasn't just a video. That was a Movie. A very beautiful and immersive experience! I totally enjoyed this video! It's so beautiful there, like paradise. Pigeon Key looks absolutely stunning! 🤩🏖
As a 4th generation Floridian from Miami, I really enjoyed this video. My family drove it in the 50s and 60s and it was like floating over the water. At one time Pigeon Key was leased by University of Miami utilized as a research facility. The buildings were quite run down until recently before the 7-mile bridge and Pigeon Key were restored. It wasn't such a simple matter to do this video. Thanks much.
What amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean on the renovated Old Seven Mile Bridge! 😍 The path seems so smooth, and I also like the mile markers on the side. Pigeon Key is such a beautiful hidden gem! 28:40 This is a heavenly spot! 🤩 I love the isolation and tranquility of this area, and the water is so clear! 33:26 I enjoyed hearing the door creak sound and seeing all the old artifacts/history in the Pigeon Key Museum. Thank you so much for sharing this treat, AK!! 🤗❤ I hope I can visit one day!
Thanks for taking me back in time I was 8 yrs old back in 1970 when my family took a trip to Key West we went across that old bridge hard to believe it's been 53 yrs ago!! Sure did bring back memories thanks for sharing I enjoy your videos!!
Thank You for this, AK!! How Cool to be able to walk, run, bike ride for two miles uninterrupted and back again to Marathon. Nice workout everyday.👋🙂 Well, perhaps that section was probably removed to keep people from going further because people don't always obey signs, barricades, and such, don'tcha know!!🤔PS An article said it was completely on solar grid, so no electric bill.
The old railroad bridge was completed in 1912 and destroyed in 1935 when a hurricane took off a large part of the middle section. More than 400 workers and railmen were killed in the storm. No one wanted to pay the tremendous cost of repair so the land was sold to the State which then began building the highway over the salvaged portions of the structures. The present highway was built in 1980s and it runs along some of the ruins of the old bridge.
I rode my bike with my hubby a week from yesterday on this bridge. It was so much fun. I wanted to tour the island but missed the closing by 15 minutes. I definately would like to snorkel off the dock next year.....Thanks for sharing.
What a wonderful vid. Wow, had no idea about Pigeon Key. Neat also that you can swim there off of the dock. So unique seeing the family swimming there. The bridge ending like that where it's broken is creepy. Thanks for the vid and glad you had a great experience

Well where should I start ....Thank you so much for this post and tour.... I actually lived?.... stayed?.... visited? (all three) on Pigeon Key for a couple of weeks in summer 1982 or 83 (which would peg me at 18 or 19 then). Seems odd I can't really remember that clearly now .I do know it was essentially closed to the public and a fantastic place to be introduced to south Florida marine and mangrove life. I had come from Toronto with Blythe and company a sort of education camp for older students with wonderful intense programs, to study Marine Biology. After our stay on the Key we headed for Casa Bertmar on Grand Cayman for a month or so. I had been to Florida a few times as my grand parents lived up the coast in Delray. I flew up to visit for an afternoon on a little airline known as Pacific Boston Airways. Leaving Marathon the Captain asked me if I wanted to sit in the Co pilot's seat and insisted I wear their official "Cap", we didn't get elevated much past 100 ft before I realized there should have been another qualified pilot and I was made to look like one before take-off. We made it to Miami with out a hitch though the aircraft had only about 8 or 10 passenger seats and was a twin turbo prop hauled by these partied coked out specialists in there field. The airline was later shut down by the FAA for infractions that included stoned and drunk pilots cocaine use and flying aircraft without proper staffing. ironic I know. Safely on Miami soil next destination on to West Palm Beach "International Airport". The leg from Miami to WPBI was on a 80 passenger Jet that shook, rattled, passengers were praying and looking at each as this was surely our last flight ever after no doubt dropping loose aluminum and aircraft parts on unsuspecting Floridians on an 70 mile18 Minute flight. A quick visit with Nana. Then a taxi ride to grab 2 items Florida was well known for in the 80's, my journey then increased in pace and space I have no recollection of returned departures but I know I made them, I re-arrived at Pigeon Key the same day although evening had set in. Great job. I wanna take my son and our scooters. To the best of your knowledge, still no restrictions against e-scooters on the old section of 7 mile bridge for the trip to pigeon key? THANKS.
AK loved the drive yu showed us yesterday going to the keys talking about each place yu went by and eventually Key West finding a great parking space. Today haven’t watched this video yet Are u taking the scooter along the route now?
I love how the sky meets the ground in the middle of the screen [the visible horizon] proving that even with a wide angle lens the Earth is level and stationery. The horizon always rises to the observer's eye level on a level surface. No curving whatsoever. Welcome to Flat Earth Action Kid.
I enjoyed the brief visit to Pigeon Key, but it does leave me with questions. You did the ride along the old bridge, and said it was possible to use a scooter on the new bridge, but does the new bridge actually have access on to Pigeon Key? Is the whole Key a "museum" or are there residents? I tend to gather the entrance fee goes to a charitable organisation. Is this purely for the Key, or does some go towards the future restoration of the bridge. From your recent videos I get the feeling you are enjoying your move to Florida. Paul Quilter (U.K.)

AK loved the drive yu showed us yesterday going to the keys talking about each place yu went by and eventually Key West finding a great parking space. Today haven’t watched this video yet
Are u taking the scooter along the route now?
I love how the sky meets the ground in the middle of the screen [the visible horizon] proving that even with a wide angle lens the Earth is level and stationery. The horizon always rises to the observer's eye level on a level surface. No curving whatsoever. Welcome to Flat Earth Action Kid.
Dang … 30 minutes before they close and they couldn’t give you a discount. 🤔
Dat really sux big time u got cut off fm continuing your scooter journey on this old bridge to Key West.
Hi AK. Great vid. I'm curious. Does the DJI P2 fit on the Chesty V2? :-)
Great
Does a scooter mean u stand up or can yu sit down? Not familiar with a scooter
It's a stand up scooter.
@for the love of God They are available too.
Can you fish off this bridge?

I believe you need to be on the big bridge all the way, to go all seven miles...no?
$15?? good god that's highway robbery!!
They will never restore the rest of the old seven mile bridge in will just deteriorate over the years.
