This is my favourite rose, I've folded it many-many times. Just a small tip to make the rose look even better: fold two of them, one from a smaller paper and put it into the middle of the large one. This way you can improve the look; the middle of the rose won't look so empty. Also curl the petals a bit and you have the perfect rose.
you know it’s a good design when there’s a fold with a signature name. jo is probably the best origami creator i know of on this platform, incredible stuff!
Having a hard time at 8:50? Tip: Make sure that all of your folds are creased and exact. Turn the paper upside down so that when you fold in the paper, you can guide everything around the square in the middle. It's much easier! Edit: I tried this again with construction paper and found it considerably easier. That or just the fact that I had prior experience
the valley fold we do right after folding the paper into 8 sections horizontally and vertically, that keeps opening up a little when we do this 8:50 twist, thats the problem really! So when doing the twist, turn the paper around, and make sure those initial valley folds dont open up while twisting, and it should work!
Omg same, I was planning on making a cardboard box that opens just like a wardrobe, and then put self care stuff, but I can't make / order self care stuff so now I'm just looking for decorations XD
Thank you! There is one thing that truly stands out amongst all UA-cam tutorial about Origami: I've never seen before the inclusion of a graphical folding guidance in sync with the folds currently performed, as you've done here. That REALLY adds understanding to the procedure by eliminating any bias due to shadows, lighting or fast manipulation. I just succeeded in building a rose, using paper of 120g/m². :-)

*If you're having trouble at **8:50**:* Keep in mind that you'll use *only the existing creases* , no new creases will be created. When you push the paper from the sides, the center will *spin* and all the sides will be folded at the same time

Took me almost three days, but I made a dozen for my girlfriend. She loves the origami aesthetic, so I know she's gonna go ape shit on Valentine's day. I mean, the chocolate will help too, but...
The Spinning bit was really tricky but I got there in the end :D Tip: Make another rose but half the size of the original. Fit the smaller rose in the middle of the larger one and it looks even more impressive and it fills the large hole in the middle of the road rose! Now I'm used to making it and made 2 roses :D (4 in total if you count the smaller roses fitted in the 2 larger ones :D)
To all of those struggling. I crumbled and threw away my first 2 attempts. Tried again and this time really made every fold perfectly. When you get to 8:56, instead of just trying to do it like he does it. Watch the folds and creases that all need to be in sync with each other. Don't rush it really. Just try to follow where his creases are going on every side and I promise you keep doing that you will get it. Took me an hour to get it on my 3rd try. But since then I'm able to do it just as quickly as he does now. Don't give up. It comes out beautifully
