Sorry, but those old early 70's non Boss 302's were turds. Anemic heads, low compression pistons, restrictive intake and exhaust. That engine stock had all of 205hp. There was a LOT done to the one in question....if in fact it was even a 302 in there. And before anyone gets their panties in a twist, I'm a die hard Ford guy.....but the truth, is the truth.
Gearing, and light weight. Those trucks are crazy LW stock vs a modern truck with auto trans. He probably has a tru trac or a locker in the rear. I wanna see a built 340, 383, or 440 mopar engine in a highboy.
Got the temporary tag on the ford. You get a new toy you gotta play with it! Beat the shit out of it is probably a little more accurate but it has to be done for experimental purposes! The ford is definitely making some steam though. I love the 302, you can really make some HP with them and they're virtually bulletproof.

Like the fact that I drive a Chevy Camaro but respects anybody else's ride wether it be a Dodge, Ford, etc.!!! I like the 70 f-150, sweet looking truck, I'm not bashing on it just because it's a Ford!!!
I have a simple setup in the car right now, I have a 327 small block Chevy bored .30 over, 11.0:1 TRW pistons, I'm using open chamber heads that came off a 400 SBC, comp cams Big Mutha Thumper camshaft hydraulic, victor jr intake with a modified 700 cfm Holley mechanical secondary, hooker 1-3/4 headers, m-21 four speed with a 10 bolt with 3.73 gears. It runs alright, but the smaller engines crave more compression, more gearing, and that's a no no for street use and dependability, especially with the gas at the pump, so the saying "there's no replacement for displacement", might be true haha. Do we are actually struggling to getting it run it's full potential, but that was the reason we used the open chamber heads on it to decrease compression, but with that big mutha, and all the overlap it decreased it way too much.
Rich Jaimes Sounds like you couldn't decide between a street/strip or purely street setup but got neither result, lol. Talking about small displacement SBCs, what mods would you suggest to start with on a Vortec 4.8l (294 cubes, now that's small displacement, lol). Gotta keep it smog legal though (love California, hate the emissions testing).

Son of Slade My grandfather, deceased in 99. He had a 72, yellow of all colors. He purchased it brand new and STILL run well 27 years later!
God I love 70's Fords. 4 wheel, 2wheel. Lifted, in the weeds. 460's to inline 300 6. Best trucks ever. If Jesus drove a truck it' d be a 70's Ford!
ford was definitely not stock, ;) I think cam, headers, big carb, geared, but I'd like to know for sure what's done to it, sounds awesome.
supercharged 302! I think that's enough. Wonder if it is out of a super bird? They sold Thunderbird with a blower in the early to mid 90's.
Those old 302's were no slackers...let them breathe a wiff of a turbo or supercharger, and holy shit they fly.
Gear Banger ::::: ya for sure I hear ya there, she's really rollin.
hey, those old inline 6's might not be power houses but i know of quite a few that are still cranking.
old ford all day.
Love seeing old School Shutting Down new rides , Awesome videos and love your channel
Awwww, the good ol’ days!!! Had one of those fords. Same color!!
I gotta say even though I Love chevy 70's and down for ford was badass. They are strong trucks.
My first truck was a '77 F150 with a 460. Raced it down that stretch of 35 more than a few times.
8 years later that paper tag is still barely hanging on flying in 100mph wind hahaha
It doesn't matter who won. They are both AMERICAN trucks and that's what counts most.
Gearing, and light weight. Those trucks are crazy LW stock vs a modern truck with auto trans. He probably has a tru trac or a locker in the rear. I wanna see a built 340, 383, or 440 mopar engine in a highboy.
Stock? Thats bull, hoodscoops were not stock on that truck in the 70s
In engine performance "stock" refers to mechanical not body work.
There is enough clearance under that hood to run a super charger with out a scoop.😂
The bed is full of batteries and there's a Tesla model S motor under the hood. The sound is from JBL DD6700 system. It's just another sleeper.
@@charlesmckinley29 There's enough clearance to add a second small V8 under the hood.
@@wjg4877 as it should be.
Funny how the chev passes him at higher speeds like he really “won”
Just having the sound of a 5.0 you win every time
If only 3 speed then ya not gonna go much over 80.
That kid in the Ford Lifted!
Brought back good memories of racing all over the place. Fun times.
I still have my 2nd car I bought in June 1976. A 1969 Chevelle 350 with a 4 speed Muncie. Bucket seats and a rag top. Still having fun with it.
For sale?
@@talonvaughn6175 No sir. I got the car in 1976 going to hang on to it and pass it down to my kids. Hopefully that will be a long time from now.
@@morelandclearing904 thats awesome, I hope they enjoy it and want to work on it.
My 77 formula will eat ur lunch and look way better doing it. My 6.6 is a little too heavy, for your big boss ford, or your 350 chevy.😈
@@tednugent8501 A 77 firechicken does not look better than a Chevelle
Chevy owners just salty, team ford 💯
MrHegotkicks415 team broken down.
MrHegotkicks415 Ford had a "better idea" but gm kept breaking the bulbs
MrHegotkicks415 the guy who owns the Chevy is the one who posted it so how would he be salty? Just curious
That ford walked out of his life
Ls owners are pissed ..... my point exactly, ls what again .
I had an 86 F150 with a 302, that sucker was strong AF. Even with the mechanical issues, I never found enough weight to hold it to the road.
👍HELL YA !!! Some honest fun on the freeway with zero road rage
That old ford still hauling .. nice. Thanks for sharing
Got the temporary tag on the ford. You get a new toy you gotta play with it! Beat the shit out of it is probably a little more accurate but it has to be done for experimental purposes! The ford is definitely making some steam though. I love the 302, you can really make some HP with them and they're virtually bulletproof.
Why do I feel like my nearly stock 2wd Sierra could outrun that Silverado?
Yeah it was pretty slow. My cargo van could outrun it. 5.4 Triton V8. It's a torque monster.
I've had them all Ford still the best truck ever made I have a new 2016 Chevy I really don't like it
All newer trucks are terrible, but that old Ford in the video had a supercharger. That's like putting a Jetta next to a Busa and expecting a fair fight.
I got a new Ford and it sucks too. I miss the old ones
In 2016 shopped for truck came away with 2016 platinum 4x4 f350 black had 16 miles on it when i bought it just under 70,000 miles and still like the truck like the day i bought it but i put a 4 inch lift 35 inch tires nitto’s E lockers in front axle already had rear lockers fab four front and rear 1/4 inch thick steel bumpers been to las vegas ,hillman nevada ,grand canyon, lake havasu, florida,
That f100 scares me with that body roll. It screams “frame bend” with that torque. I love it.
if I'm not mistaken the 1970 Ford could be ordered in a 400 motor. my grandfather had one and it's freaking beast
Scott Petermann nope, the 400 came out in 71
Biggest engine in a 1970 F100 would be the 390. In 1973 the 460 was offered. The 400 was not used in the trucks until 1977.
I Had the 400C ci grand torino sport 1972. it would break the tires loose at 60 mph. bone stock. It came with the Cleveland heads.
Yes but I am talking about trucks only.
Went to a tractor pull and saw an old 4wd Ford with a 400ci engine kill all the big block Dodges and GMC/Chevy 4wds. Bet the guy next to me he'd win it all. Free beer that night.
That’s not a stock Ford, I’m sure.
Says supercharged in the description.........
Could of been a 351 Cleveland.
The 302 is insanely good.
beautiful old ford
old school muscle
No that's called new school superchargers
@@sethh8892 From Leo: Packard had a factory supercharger in 1958. There were supercharged piston engine fighter planes in WWII. Supercharging is really not new.
@@barbmelle3136 i didnt say that all superchargers where new... i just pointed out, that 302 is only pushing power because of a bolted on supercharger. i doubt he has a '58 fighter plane supercharger on his truck...
Had a 69 ford with the 390..4 on the floor..could start from a stop in forth..could squeal em in every gear..a beast.
classic old truck really like it!!
Dam That ford has balls.
Reminds me of my old F100. I had a 79 though with the 300 straight six. I had mine set up more for pulling trailers and hauling scrap. Wasnt the fastest thing on the street but it would pull anything you hooked up to
“Ya know, it’s just a stock 302 with a cam and headers.”
*makes 700hp to the wheels*
How the hell would a stock 302 be putting out 700hp
That is not 700hp
It’s called... a joke.
I doubt that was supercharged...Those old Fords were bad ass...You were happy if it came with a 390 and a stick. Wish we could see that engine.
I had an F-100 1971 Ford 302 , great truck , sold it in 1975, been kicking myself ever since then . I miss my Ford.
Like the fact that I drive a Chevy Camaro but respects anybody else's ride wether it be a Dodge, Ford, etc.!!! I like the 70 f-150, sweet looking truck, I'm not bashing on it just because it's a Ford!!!
Same here (i don't drive a Camaro but have the same mindset). Pretty funny how it's a pretty good sleeper except maybe for the scoop on the hood.
Agree haha.
Btw, do you have any mods on your Camaro (1st gen if it's the one in your profile pic?)
Yeah, that F100 has some knowledge under the hood, 😁 I'm a big GM fan and I love the ls engines, I also love the old school engines and that 302 held its own against that Silverado.
I had the '76 F100 in high school (mid 90s). It had a few bolt-ons to the engine ... nothing fancy... man that 302 was a beast!
You know the Chevy is kicking it when the 4l60e starts poppin
Loved the 70's truck ✌ OUT great video
That brings back some memories. I had a “76 Ford F-150 with a 390 in it. I tended to putt around like an old man when one day some guy in a Mercedes passed me and his wife gave me a look that I was trash. I passed them well into triple digit speed range and key banged their asses when I went past. Those straight pipes sure did throw good fireballs.
Love this vid. Shortbed F100 Cowboy cadillac taking care of business.
stock my ass.....a ford is lucky to even start much less beat a chevy. Hear it hit rpm's on take off? far from stock
matt sez someone is booty hurt
matt sez Jesus. Why so salty? Old is always better than new no matter the brand. So what if it's not stock. Still a cool fucking truck.
FORD found on road dead, fix or repair daily, fucked on race day, first on recall day, fast only rolling downhill, flip over read directions, fireball on rear denting (The Pinto for all you kids), forced on reluctant drivers, form of rejected DNA, fix or recycle dilemma, or factory ordered road disaster! Holy cow can that old Ford dance. Love it. 👍🏼😁
those 70s ford's are beasts and for pulling wars too.
