    I just tried the BBQ crusted tofu recipe last night and it was literally my favorite block of tofu I've had since being vegan for the last 7 years! I can't wait to try some tofu like this on the BBQ! Also, love the black black on black Wicked Kitchen logo at the end of the video! Thanks again for all the work you guys put into these videos, it's really taking my cooking up another level! -Cody

    10:59 I saw and I tried.
    Wrap it in a towel, freeze it, drain it (I’m lazy) wrap and freeze again. Used ir for buffalo strips .. works good :)
    On another note.. omg I just stopped at new little shop that had fresh strawberries, drizzled with a cocao .. and almond butter.. yum!

    Yes chef! I've been saying for a long time that you have to season and prepare the heck out of meat to make it taste good so why not do the same with something else that's not meat? No violence and bloodshed in the process. I am so grateful to have come across your channel that operates under that very same idea. So many great recipes to explore.

    Your Tofu technique for barbequing was fabulous! I wondered how the inside of the large Tofu block would get flavored and it came out extraordinary with barbeque sauce! The salad and coleslaw are beautiful as well.

      Thanks for watching and playing in the kitchen. We have the wicked kitchen products in the UK does that count as an event :), haven't done many here, yet. It's not as easy when you don't have all the equipment but am open to doing pop ups and collaborations.

      Thanks for watching. I don't usually freeze tofu, not opposed but I'm too impatient to wait for the freeze, then thaw, when i can achieve great results as is and don't think ahead enough. :)

    Oh my freaking gawd! I miss American bbq’s. I am an American living in Scotland for the last 28 years. While I go home to VT once a year, it is either in early spring or early winter, so do not get the family bbq’s. This one looked so great. Your grain salad looks lush! I cannot wait to try it. I do a similar one with quinoa but also add chopped up marinated artichokes. I cannot wait to try everything in this video. My in-laws are coming up next week and staying for a couple weeks. If we have the weather for it, this is what I am making!
    Thanks so much for all your videos! I know when I make your recipes that the family will eat well and enjoy every bite. You are personally responsible for getting my hubby to go vegan. So thank you, Derek! He loves your recipes…he has a few favourites that we make regularly, but his absolute favourite is the pulled “pork” using king oyster mushrooms. He is like a child dancing about the kitchen in excitement as it is cooking lol. Even our Labrador, “Nutmeg” gets excited as she enjoys a little too. When I tell him I am trying a new recipe he looks dubious, then when I say it is from Wicked Kitchen, he is good to go lol. We have tried so many of your recipes that he knows it will be a winner.

    I really love the consideration of different textures with the different tofu products. It’s a nuance that’s overlooked. Can’t wait to try this one! So the next vid is the tofu/mushroom combo? Or seitan? I’m totally imagining the pay by weight bbq shops served on butcher paper… 🤤

    Hey! I wrote ya via Instagram about two weeks ago about a mushroom that I happened to find and don't know about. I was wondering if you ever encountered any Bunapi mushrooms while in the UK or when you are Stateside?

      Thanks for watching. Bunapi is another name or brand name for shimije mushrooms and yep we have used them. I've even been to Korea and toured where they grow them. Super delicious. reat for stir fry or soups. Thanks for watching.

    This looks AMAZING and like something I can actually make with my non-vegan dad who has a big smoker and a grill all that jazz. I've been slowly looking for something like this for awhile, thank you. Do you know how long you roughly left the tofu on the grill/smoker for?

      times can vary depending on what you want to do and the temperature of the grill, this was smoking for about an hour, it really helped drive the flavor in and with the texture that stayed together so when slicing and saucing it holds up to perfection. thanks for watching.

    I wonder if you broke the tofu down into smaller pieces if you would get more smoke and seasoning to it? It looks delicious.

      It can vary, slow smoked for about an hour, sliced then back on in bbq sauce for another 20.

    I made the coleslaw. The flavours were nice but eating chucks of raw cabbage was not appealing at all. Today i learned why slaw is typically sliced.
