It's not worth $100 million to me. I'd rather have a 48 Leaf high grade Jackie Robinson and then a 68 Venezuelan Ryan. It gets old to me seeing whales with deep pockets having exclusive deals with PSA or Jordan. Even if I was rich, I wouldn't pay big money for them. I don't buy the $100 million dollar offer either.
Nowhere near 100 million. I'd take a 48 Leaf high grade Jackie Robinson and a 68 Venezuelan Ryan instead. Wrong pen and the autos don't look good or that legible.
Amazingly back in the day if you had a card worth $1000 & you had it signed, it would then de-value the card to the price of the autograph & the card was deemed worthless. The card would be considered in poor condition & only the autograph would have value.
Sometimes it isn’t what you could pay to have something like this done. Instead, it could be who you are or who you know. If no fee was paid to MJ, the owner could have promised to sell or auction one or more for a charity. The autos are close to unreadable, but they are still there and would be cool to own one. I have no idea what the auto would add to the value, but it would be more than I could afford.
In my opinion, PSA grading standards are tougher today than, say, 20 years ago. I use the APR on Psa hundreds of times. I can click on the picture of the card and the front is blatantly off center, yet the card is a gem mint 10. Just a thought 🤔
It's just PSA doing whatever PSA wants and everybody keeps saying there the best. I would put $ on that the private collector is friends with somebody high up on the ladder at PSA. No way they all get a 10 if I had sent them in. Thanks for the video!
Such a miss using dark blue on the color. Imagine if they were in Gold/Silver/White. Would have looked so much sharper. I had Rickey sign a card with a bluish back ground and forgot to ask for a lighter color. I love the card but regret not asking for yellow or silver to this day. Whether people like it or not, the look of the auto on the cards does matter.
There have been a few videos around these cards. No one has said they like the autos in the blue sharpie. I think these cards are $500K each but if someone does auction them you would want to do 1 at a time. I would think the 1st one that goes to auction would do about $800K and then they start falling from there.
My head is spinning after this installment, Mike. I’m feeling like GPK’s Adam Bomb. I don’t know what to believe. 100 mill, probably closer to 3 mill. Jordan signed merely out of the goodness of his heart- really? I feel this may be a sign of the beginning of the end of civilization. I’m convinced that somehow Gladiator memorabilia was to blame for the fall of Rome. 👍❤️
Jordan’s time is probably > the owner of his psa 10s. If I was the owner of the cards and sensed any inkling that Jordan would walk away if it wasn’t done his way (thick blue sharpie), I would cave to his request. Could be possible that he knew the thick sharpies weren’t optimal but made a game time decision. If both parties walk away upset… that’s a lose-lose… with the greatest basketball player annoyed at you. I’m giving benefit of the doubt that the owner knew what he was doing, but agreed to not annoy Jordan and capitalize on the opportunity.
They're worth whatever some goofball pays 😂 I already know I'm going to be in the minority here ..but I believe he should have used a thinner pen and signed/inscribed on the BACK of each card in that bid ole empty space. YEAH YEAH YEAH....I KNOW... people want the front signed...PHOOEY!! The backs area is PERFECT for a clean, legible auto and plenty of room for the additional text of the inscription!! Then you have a beautiful, clean, unmarred shot of MJ on the front still and a next level REVERSE of the card that's really only been seen ONCE...and personally,I think it's something to behold. In the minority? Sure...I'll take that. RIGHT? I don't think there's a solid argument to deny it.
I have a 1986 fleer Michael Jordan card, might be a reprint, and I would rather have a picture with Michael than have my card signed the way he signed those. I think it devalues the cards.
If the person that owns these cards (who I'm guessing is Probstein) turned down a $100 million offer then he's not very wise. Maybe on a good day, these cards could sell for $1 million each.
Thanks for the video! Interesting stuff here. This may seem a bit crass, but if I was Michael Jordan and needed to settle some outstanding debt, this will be the perfect way to do it. I thought Jordan had an exclusive deal with Upper Deck regarding autographs?
This whole thing was a major bust. The autos look awful. I’m guessing they thought the thicker sharpie made the auto stand out a little better on the dark background but it totally backfired. Should have experimented with other colors with a thinner Staedtler.
@@JunkWaxHero same.. that was my initial thought man. Anyone aware of the value of a MJ private signing would know the potential. I wouldn't doubt if they surfaced one day.
This was like watching a Christopher Nolan movie. Got to keep track of all the time jumps. But kidding aside, very interesting and informative video as always (and I'm a big Christopher Nolan fan).
He definitely used the wrong marker on these cards Mike. I’ve collected autographs for years & would even take my own marker when I’d go to a Tony Gwynn signing at Drew Pearson Ford. I think he should have used a gold or silver medium tip marker & it would’ve been 100 % better.
I think it was here that I watched a video on MJ 86 Fleet cards that were signed on thr back of the card. I don't know how it affects the value but it looks a lot better. The auto is "crisper" & easier to read. I could be a millionaire today...If only...Anyone have a time machine for rent?
My gut says this is urban lore or hobby lore, never to be evidenced. The money is ridiculous. Can’t imagine that even Elon Musk would be foolish enough to overpay like this for 10 Gem signed MJs
I call fubar on the whole process. Really PSA cracked them for the collector and then MJ signed them, did PSA whip the finger prints off and did the private collector give PSA some extra money to make 6 of them 10 hmmmm. Did anyone take pictures or have a video? because if it was the avg joe submitting those cards no one would believe them. Fubar!!
How rare is a 10 auto for MJ on this card. Grade aside. I think that will help determine value, although not all tens are treated equal and his signatures are not good here.
This whole story seems fishy and contrived. Autos look awful and who would want an MJ auto with ‘87-88 DPOY inscribed on it? Lol nobody thinks of Jordan and says “ah yes, MJ, better known as the ‘87 DPOY”. The $100 million is beyond absurd and seems to have only been included to try and stir up interest, maybe Collectibles Guru gets a cut if the cards sell? I’d rather have a copy without those autos on them, they just detract from the card. Maybe a silver pen that actually resembled his normal auto would add some value but this just seems like a ploy to make a quick buck.
I don't totally understand how a 10/10 can even exist? If you really think about it, any marks on the card (including autos) should reduce the grade below 10, because it is no longer "flawless". 🤷♂️
What do you think these are worth?
Not worth anything to me!😂 I got my 86 Jordan in a set…in 1988-89 for 25 bucks with tax.(no stickers). 😢 All raw, all day….when it’s card related 😂🤟🏽🤓

@@JunkWaxHero my guess is around 600-700k currently. Seems 10/10s are about 3 or 4 times a 10 right?
