We need more of this. We should be not only trying to *avoid* catastrophic climate change, but making homes for our population that will withstand the worst case scenarios just in case.

TreeHairedGingerAle we only live on 5% of the land

But populations are not equally distributed on land.
Manila, Philippine, has 14.5K average population in 1 square km, and we also have 3.9K in Berlin, Germany.
Are you trying to ask people to move to a less dense city? Whose paying for it? And how?

Why would we want to see the audience instead of the slides of the presentation? Would have been really helpful if we could see the entire presentation!

The fact that society is developing innovations to ease symptoms of our system is legally, and slowly destroying the earth is very thought provoking, good choice Ted.

The Japanese also built their major international airport on the ocean.
When there is no land where do you go?
If high dangerous water weather is predicted, then people will evacuate until the bad weather passes. They do that now in South Florida.

would love to see this combined with other research about making these islands as much self-sufficient and sustainable as possible in both energy and ressources

Qwertycal Exactly! He did not address the topic of environmental impact. It is essential to address it since our land, water, and air are already so polluted. Since he's worked with the oil industry, I'm suspicious. Still, the idea is interesting.

Another option is to try videos in subjects you are familiar with, you will recognize ideas and vocabulary.
