- Backpack Hero Part 36 - not even one run in, I've inconceivably broken Satchel. So much dodge, free damage, and charming enemies to fight for you. It's busted, and the new method of arranging the backpack is fun!

Also Satchel spilled some coffee on his map. You can tell when you hover over his icon on the map, he notes he spilled some. The little bits of personality they put in places like that make me love this game

Finally getting to Satchel :3 I like him most, probably because he's so strong. Some things to note however:
-Items that detect how many pockets are to the left/right/above/below (like the climbing gloves and those boots) don't count the pocket they're in always, only if there's another cell of their pocket in their detection range. So if you put the item on the edge of where it detects, it won't count itself.
-You can place new torn pockets in incomplete ways, that is, you don't always need to place all 4 cells correctly, you can superpose a new cell on top of an old cell to essentially only add 3/2/1 cells. Same with placing some cells out of the backpack border and some inside.
The latter part also works for the other “expand by adding a piece” characters iirc! You can cut them off
At 18:53 if you want to waste space, you can make a new pocket by putting 3/4 of the shape off the edge and only make a pocket with size one on the top row.

27:30 warning about unlocking the new character (for tyler, as well as anyone who's having trouble with it like i did): dont give any of the robot parts to constance until you have all three of them
the game only lets each part show up in the loot when you have the previous part/parts in your inventory at haversack, and it DOESN'T count any parts already given to her
as a result, if you do what i did and give her the first two pieces before finding the legs, you will constantly see robot heads and never see a _single_ robot legs, and the only way to fix it is to go and bring back a second copy of the head and chest (which the game never tells you that you need to do)
That would be absolutely annoying
SO THAT'S WHY I ALWAYS GET HEADS
I wish I would've known this. I did close to 30 runs specifically to get those damn legs.

I like the "death by a thousand cuts" build. I once got that relic that allows you to copy common items, so I started copying Feather Shivs, ended up with so many of them the game begun lagging when it calculated the damage of each of them

Just so you know! If you charm the Rat King you won’t get the EXP of the animals hiding under his robe

This sort of dodge build is how I won for the first time as satchel. Probably the best setup for this character.
It's incredible how well the devs have made this game such a gem when it already was fun in its demo state, inspiring!
I absolutely love the idea that the Princely character doesn't want to murder his subjects so he charms them to his side instead.
Satchel is my favorite character as well, wish we got more unique item types per character, his hammers and instruments are very fun to use

This game just keeps on giving. Hope that we can see StS A20 levels of difficulty as endgame content. Love to see each run being challenging and having good chance of failure.

2:55 I just want to acknowledge that Tyler's idea of "pacifist" is to enchant other creatures to kill his enemies for him, by that definition you can say that Hitler was a pacifist as well (and yes i'm aware of my clear violation of Godwin's law)

As you walk down the narrow cavern corridor with your party of four, a small creature walks out from the shadows, you instinctively draw your bladeabut before you can react the small bird seemingly melds with the wind, a gust blows past you, a sharp gust of wind that cuts you and you fall to the ground, as your consciousness fades, you feel it seemingly stolen from you, the howling of the wind transforms into the sound of a violin and the last thing you remember is an unbeatable feeling of distain for your comrades before losing consciousness

Love this build. Lot of design choice on backpack building
Satchel has been one of my strongest runs ever. Violin, Grand Piano, Microphone, and a bunch of harps easily generated 500+ charm on several enemies a turn.
Can I say I absolutely love your new upload schedule? On random occasions I feel like "hey I hope he uploaded a new vid" and it's always the first one I see on UA-cam!

They should do like Vampire Survivor and give you something to disable a set amount of items so you can do all the quests without oversaturating the game with too many items to create a cohesive build. Maybe a town upgrade like an "altar of withholding" or something.
It’s crazy how much they added to this game
The bird is easily my best character, building instrument synergies is challenging but fun. I highly recommend trying the pacifist challenge out to learn how to best woo your enemies over to your side.

Just so you know, you can overlap new peices with existing ones, and it lets you level up with less peices (perfect for making pockets) (this applies to all characters with tetris peice levels)

Satchel is the most busted out of all the different characters you can use in the game. He's got so many different playstyles that you're able to do simultaneously, where the other ones you mostly have to focus on one or two at a time.
I did the builder bird run, which starts with hammers and bricks. I kept with that and added the legendary book which gives adjacent and diagonal weapons more damage in the center of the hammers for big damage.
The robot character is quite interesting to play, although not always that great.

don't forget to sell your relics and legendaries if you don't need them; each shop can be sold to three times, so it is worth hoarding rare and legendary items for a ton of gold on your run, which is perfect for the ore relic

When you level up you can place the piece outside of the back pack and have it delete what ever is outside of the backpack and save the one inside of the backpack to make more small pockets

Satchel is so cracked, once (on hard mode 5 ) i got the coral relic and duplicated the feather shiv, i 1 shot literally every enemy

The duck is basically piercing damage that does not proc spike or rage. No need to care about shield or damage reflect
At 9:56, if you put the glove one more to the right, it would give more, because then it would 'see' the pocket, that it is in and count it. since the glove is at the edge of the pocket it does not see the pocket it is in.
another comment said the opposite, that items that count pockets to a direction do not count the one they are in, so are u sure?
@@Sopsy_Hallow If it 'sees' a pocket that it is in, it will count it. if it is at the edge of its own pocket, it wont see the pocket it is in.
@@Sopsy_Hallow iirc the effects is phrased "for each pocket with a space to the right" (or at least, that seems to be how it functions, even if it isnt phrased that way)
if its own pocket has a space to the right of the item, the pocket will be counted, otherwise, it won't be counted

I played with this character and got the coral relic, lets just say, it was kinda easy and overpowered.
yeah satchel has some busted commons especially the starting shiv it combos with itself you only need 3 pockets for it to start doing 7 per shiv. I decided to start a satchel run just now coral from mathew gg ez :D
coral is really op with some common items
Btw it didn’t matter but left and right gloves should go to the edge of the pocket instead of inside for +1 block
