A word of caution for anyone interestet in using the Skyguard: If you run the Skyguard for a prolonged period of time and become a real PITA for ESFs, prepare to collect some Bounties. ESF Pilots can be really resentful, especially the skilled, high BR ones, if you dare to interrupt their Missile Pod Infantry farming :D
As a die-hard fan of the skyguard with more than 2000 kills and 200 ribbons (Jeltz191 VS Briggs) , I completely endorse everything Wrel has to say in this video. Spot on and I would not change or add anything. Well done.
Yeah, I have that problem too. When I auraxed the Skyguard my outfit asked if I was in therapy for my blatant masochism. One thing I would add is the Skyguard has extremely high distraction potential. People will preferentially target a Skyguard over more dangerous threats because they're rare and when they're firing at you all you see is a stream of bullets so you can annoy people to their doom.
I sat in a anti aircraft turret locked into a base I only made 2 kills in 4 hours but I had so much fun laying down cover fire damaging aircrafts forcing them away. Keeping ground forces safer.
It's around midnight, I am freaking sick due to that NORO-virus. What I want to say is, U'r never too sick to hang around on UA-cam and watch a Wrel reviewing something or explaining game mechanics. Great job, as always nice video (Alert! fangirl-mode activating! in 3-2-1!) whaaaaaaahoooooooo! Please never change, stay awesome I'm out...
I use my Skyguard with Fire Suppression, Proxy radar and rival. Im normally back at the far end of the convoy, so I provide spawn sunderers with detection. Safed one or two of them and me from c4 fairies. Also useful when sitting in a base as a defender, since some randoms actually pay attention to the minimap.
The proximity radar of tanks, harassers and sunderers is not the same as the scout radar of flash, valkyrie and ESFs. That means with proxy radar only you and your passengers can see the enemy blips, while with scout radar every teammate in a 100m (?) radius can see the blips.
Thank you for this guide Wrel! The Skyguard can be lots of fun to use, when you want target practice. After more than a year using it, I still learned useful tips from this vid!
That 3rd person view fixes the turret angle while 1st person turns it with the vehicle is one of those things that would really need improvement. There should be a setting in the options menu for switching those modes. I guess the 1st person thing was done to assist circling of an enemy. Although ... when is that really feasible? Only with big, slow targets, and those one can easily follow with mouse turret.
I just wanted to mention, that once you have set up the area of denial, you can hunt sunderers. Especially deploy shield sundies, as the shield will not come back as long as the sundy is taking damage.
I like running top armour, eventually a Lib is going to notice you, dodging half up, the tank buster and Dalton shots with donuts, power slides and if they're really close driving at them and to a side + top armour I can usually live long enough that They have to leave. I also find AT mines essential, it's nice driving premium steak with an escape plan.
Lol maybe if it's a scrub Lib. Skyguard can't 1v1 a Lib, period, unless you are shooting them from render range and they fly right at you. I've been a Lib pilot for way too goddamn long, and I was getting decent around the time the Skyguard was originally buffed, so I got really damn good at killing them. Best advice is if you're fighting one, never stay pointed the same direction, even if they take damage and leave.
@@mattthedestroyer2804 All you need - Default Nosegun (bit of weapon capacity certed) - Default Afterburner - Max Hover Airframe - Stealth (what ever you can afford) - Firesurpression (whatever you can afford) No need to grind that much. Practice in your ESF is MUCH more important than equipment. I mean i could deal with 70% of airthreats in nearly stock esf. Only thing i really need is max hover airframe.
@@OmetenExcept that that accounts for enemies being significantly worse in skill than you, because if you're ESF dogfighting people with even comparable skill level 1 v 3 you're gonna get wrecked, so that works until you run into someone competent and aren't farming noobs. Not to mention during dogfight whatever column you protected is easy pickings again. Skyguard isn't best for taking down enemy air and raking up kills, it's a lot better defensively in area denial and actually protecting columns. also "but ppl cant fly so they pull skyguards", nah, people like doing different things and the fact you can is a big part of the appeal of PS2 to begin with.
Everyone loves it when somebody else takes on the support role. i.e. Skyguard pulling watch, engineers fixing base turrets, piloting sky whales, etc. Problem is... playing support (with few exceptions) does not pay very well. Sadly the game still lacks incentive for most support roles.
Wrel A guide on how to make maximum use of the different MBT's for different purposes would be great to see, if you have not already. I've been around long enough to know most ways to possibly use your MBT, whatever faction, it it's top performance, but most newer players don't, and I'm also confident I could learn more from alternative sources of info.
The problem with Skyguards is that once you've managed to get enemy pilots to flee the area, you're largely useless. A MAX or HA can switch loadouts, but unless you want to spend more nanites to spawn a new Lightning, you're stuck with that anti-air cannon. If you're going to get it, and you have more than one character, it's probably worthwhile to lay down some Station Cash to unlock it for all of them (unless of course you just rake in the certs regularly).
+TheRogueWolf That is all true, but anti-air is not the skyguards only good trait. If you know how it can shred infantry and flash units, as well as provide excellent cover fire. I find that it has a morale breaking effect on infantry who run away rather than shoot back with rockets.
Skyguard is my favorite vehicle in game and this video does it justice, only thing I would add to this video is some footage of 3-4 skyguard chasing away MBTs, it happens, and it is so much fun.
Dodging flak is almost impossible. One of the best way to lessen the flak damage taken (from my experience) is shaprly lower your altitude and break line of sight.
Adrian Vierra distance if its light flak, and your relatively high up if you take a shit ton of damage really quick, its better to dive and cut their line of sight
Point about zoom vs. thermal optics: I agree that zoom isn't helpful while shooting, it does help spotting threats/targets from farther away. If threats are infantry or nearby, thermal is better. If threats are tanks or planes, zoom is more helpful for spotting and situational awareness.
+jkbraden nah zoom isn't neccessary for these type of weapons. Skyguard has shells that burst near the aircraft. You only need soom for the G30 Walker which relies on direct hits to damage enemy aircraft. Really it's redundant, and thermal is much better, and necessary in environments like Hossin. I agree with Wrel on this. Not worth spending certs ons, and you got radar anyways for the Skyguard.
nice consistent 10k SPH without having to repair dick. Only downside is you have to keep moving along to the next place the ESF's try to farm. So it's not 100% camper recommended
I only have one question. Who's going to pay for my upcoming 10 moths of therapy sessions that I now will have to take three times per week after watching this video?
xMElpx he's an air player and now that most, if not all of the ps community knows about this awesome AA weapon, he will have a hard time surviving on Auraxis.
I think I have a problem. I really, _really_ hate pilots, and I can't honestly say I know why. All that footage of aircraft getting shredded excited me rather more than it should've. Flak for the flak god, flak for the flak god!
I agree with everything except zoom. Especially in stalemates where enemy infantry is unlikely to drop on you, it's very useful to be able to see how the enemy aircraft is turning and allows you to start adjusting your aim before they actually change course. And one thing that you failed to mention but actually showed in the video: Getting up close and firing into the rear armor is your best bet if you do cannot disengage from an enemy tank.
he never said zoom is useless but can be irritating when you're not used to it, which is true. But if you use it all the time or can compensate for it, good for you
***** And I never claimed he did; I'd just use zoom over thermal/NV in most situations. Thermal/NV lets you survive situations that a Skyguard with zoom doesn't need to get into. You can be further away in the outskirts of battle and still be effective in your role as area denial. Especially with bigger aircraft where the surprise factor is less relevant due to their high HP, you can engage sooner and keep them engaged for a longer time.
The Skyguard is still my fave. Has been since beta. The new changes have made it a lot more rewarding than it used to be Many would overlook it or see it as pointless. Lovely review. ^.^ Keep it up.
Thank you Wrel for making this skyguard video. I started out only wanting to play sky-control back in beta and then on launch. Perhaps my setup and suggested scenario scene can help give another / more detailed opinion on the subject: I run nanites, fire suppression, rival chassis. on the gun I do zoom and I've got that reload and ammo pretty high up. I go to a big open spot between fights and I take on the enemies and I keep moving. I move and maneuver enough that the nanites have plenty of time to keep working and I can hop out and quick-repair and hop back in. It's easy to work aircraft against themselves when they have to do fly-overs and then repair. You can chase them down and they give you plenty of down-time between attacks to regen naturally. If I ever come across another lightening, I will try to find at least three locations to engage them where I can use the terrain to have them come at me at an elevation when I ram them, get under them, and unload 2-3 clips of skyguard into the bottom of the tank to kill them. Mostly works on other lightnings, I think I've only killed like 3 MBTs this way. anything smaller than a lightning I will ram as hard as I can and unload in to kill it. It's easy to drive in controlled circles and force a harasser to launch over an inconvenient and unleveled cliff if you plan out at least 2 or 3 routes to lead a harasser. Some terrain is just not meant for harassers. Know where these places are. I have not used the skyguard much for anything in the past year and a half because of me getting better at the scythe, hitting aircraft with AP rounds from the lightning and going burster-max with expanded clips. Anywho, that's my commentary input to the video subject. Thank you Wrel for suggesting that all players unlock the skyguard. It truly is an answer to air superiority and it truly does only take 2 or 3 of them to completely shut down an entire faction from operating in the area.
they should have a t5 implant that uses 20 energy per second but you will be able to see leading squares on enemy aircraft so you can lead easly just like in real life.
I am glad you decided to do a video about the skyguard. I have done skyguard videos for a while, but will never get the number of views you have. I want to see people succeed with with my favorite weapon, but many big name players ignore it. Keep it up Wrel, cause again this weapon is beautiful. I literally have more kills with this weapon than any other in the game. Also I just wanted to add that as someone who has used this weapon since launch your loadout idea for stealth is exactly how I like to do it. I disagree with your thoughts on other build but no point in debating it here, because after all, personal preferance.
i love my skyguard :) using the stealth loadout:) had some very funny moment with it, mainly because i use it either to defend or help a attaque when other faction have fun with lolpoding. but also as a inflitrator i spend a lot of time into enemy territory to find a VS TR fight ( i'm NC) so i can shout everything!!! ( once in esamir i was heading to a fight, hen i saw a lib flying really low chased by some mossy... i guess lib was surprised to jump around a hill to find a skyguard XD) one thing very important to remember, when defending aim for galaxy, often i saw 2 or more of them at max altitude, stayd above capture point to serve as a direct respawn ( and infantry and max can't aim at them as they are to vertical) lastly always be aware of surrending and move often, a lib who took dmg will often get out from the back, or some ESF
Yeah, i was surprised to hear Wrel suggest your biggest threats as a skygaurd would be infrantry. Being able to operate at the edge of battles generally means you're out of any infantries range and i generally go skygaurd to counter libs so the top armour is invaluable against their air to ground weapons. It's not really worth it against 1 ESF, but you can often fool a lib that might be used to thinking it can cheese a skygaurd by pretending you don't know what it plans when it charges and forcing it to take multiple strafing runs on you that it really can't afford to do. Granted my survival rate against a good lib crew stands at about 40% ish, they'll always leave the fight in the red. It would be nice to think someone would pay enough attention to support you dealing some damage on the lib, a single rocket would push that rating to close to 100%.
I would recommend driving as heavy assault if it is safe to do so. It is a good tool to work with your air deterrence ribbons requirement in the heavy assault directive.
Another smart thing to do is to hold your shots on any lone liberator or ESF that is heavily distracted or coming in to rocket pod the ground, in my dual ranger sundy I always tell my gunners to hold off until they are within "our AA domain" which is the range in which they are low enough so they cannot turn and escape with ease and be killed off. Definitely a fun form of gameplay for me and helps my faction maintain air superiority.
Watched this video several times, just realized it was Wrel himself that killed me and made me swear off Piloting Mosquitos forever @ 3:55. Thanks, Wrel!
EXACTLY! its so utterly stupid. you drive a highly specialized FLAK vehicle and you can barly get a libby down to half health before he starts pissing him self laughing over your burning wreck ..... WTF the only thing you can kill reliably with it are slowboating skynoobs in an ESF but 9 out of 10 ESF boost away into cover after recieving the first hit.
It is stupid isn't it? XD They nerf thermals because of liberators farming everything and now liberators are OP anyway while ESF get lock on from everywhere having no clue what is hitting you
If you're planning on parking your skyguard on a hilltop like near Crossroads/Broken Arch having top armor can increase your survivability substantially. Generally I don't bother with top armor, but there are circumstances where almost all your damage is going to be coming from aircraft. I also like running auto-repair and racer chassis, generally speaking. If I sustain enough damage where I feel compelled to repair I can usually extricate myself from immediate danger, otherwise I just don't have to bother with repairing.
Luckily it was on sale today, so I got it with some saved up SC. First impression is that it is deadly against enemy ESF's, especially if they are trying to farm infantry. I found lots of ESF's that would hover over the target, sometimes lolpodding, and they are easy pickings for the skyguard. The worst thing is that sometimes they would hover in place even after taking damage, and then move away at the very last moment (probably trying to get one extra infantry kill) with a sliver of health left. These pilots were easy pickings. Last thing, the projectiles fired from the skyguard seem to be a lot more accurate than anti-air turrets at bases. This makes it a lot easier to hit targets at longer ranges.
Stealth + top armor + IR smoke = one tough skygaurd The IR smoke is useful for hiding from attacking Liberators. in a typical attack run, they swoop in and hit you with the tank buster, and then pull up for the kill shot with the Dalton. If your aim is good, they will be half dead and you will be reloading at this point. Pop the IR smoke and move randomly in the cloud. If you induce a Dalton miss or two, you can finish them off with your second clip. Avoid tank v tank battles as you will lose, unless you can find enemies a stupid as the Vanguard @16:36(where do you find these guys Wrel?). I'm talking straight up fights where you both start at full health and are aware of each other. If he's hurt or surprised from behind, sure, go kill him. As Wrel pointed out, tunnel vision is a real hazard when skyguarding. One thing that can help is to turn your turret around and drive backward most of the time. This way you are less likely to get surprise ass-shot while staring at the sky.
I appreciate this video quite a bit, It's been a while since anyone has made a good skyguard video (my "go-to vehicle is the skyguard). If it interests you, here are a my main load outs for the skyguard. When I'm running on my own, I usually run racer chassis, nanite auto repair with fire suppression. but instead of engineer I will use heavy assault with anti-vehicle grenade and flack armor (which ever launcher of your choice) and a smg. Though it's not good to toe to toe with a main battle tank, in a pinch it can be done.....with some success. When with a convoy I run everything you said but equip proximity radar. at that point i dedicate myself to sundi guarding. With thermal vision and proximity radar it's pretty easy to keep the infantry at bay (unless its a zerg). I've never invested in any of the armor shielding (be side, front or rear armor), but I'll have to give it a shot now to see if I can have even more success. Thanks again for a great video.
I haven't invested in a skyguard because air zergs are not that common to come by. Often times they will quickly dissolve after they run into AA, leaving you standing there in your now useless vehicle. A burster max, on the other hand, can quickly swap to AI/AV, hop in a sunderer and go to the next base to lay the pain. In other words, I hate tying myself to a role for too long a time and would rather adapt on the fly, which a skillsuit allows for.
***** I can't remember the last time I had shotguns in the open. I would feel like an idiot. I always stay close to sunderers in order to rearm according to the situation. There's very little downtime and exposure, I assure you.
Got a few insane streaks after taking down the entire NC fleet. And at medium - close range u can kill infantry. But you're very vulnerable against pretty much everything else except quad bikes.
Could you do a demonstration of flinch/review of the Battle Hardened implant? Even a quick video of you aiming at a wall while someone else fires at you would be very useful
I'm going to get back to reviewing Implants when they're updated. There's currently adjustments and Tier 4 implants in the works, so I don't want to do focus my time on those reviews if they're going to quickly become outdated.
Thank you very much for this guide/review, it is extremely helpful. As for a next review, I would suggest a liberator review/guide I have never used one in the year and a half of playing ps2 because I don;t know where to start in terms of guns, what kind of guns are good for taking out certain things. Thanks again Wrel!
I would love some Anti Tank Strategies, both Inside another tank and on foot! I come across tanks on foot all the time and they are HARD to take down unless I'm sneaky
I run smokescreen, proxy radar, rival and thermals. Stealth is a decent choice but I've come to the conclusion the biggest threat to any tank, whether it be a mbt or a lightning, is the stuff that can one shot you. C4 is the biggest threat to any tank imo. You can run away from rocket infantry, you can run away from anything that is equipped with long range AV capabilities really, but all it takes is you focusing on an air target and some jerkoff infantry sneak in and plant C4 on your behind and you're done. Without proxy radar, there's no warning and no running away from that. Mines are a close second but you should be using EOD hud when in a tank anyways. Fire suppression is never a bad choice either but I like smokescreen not only for it's ability to let me cross open ground without fear of lock ons (they seem rather common on my end), but it's also got limited use versus HA dumbfire rockets. You see one or more HA with their rocket launchers out pointing your way? Drop smoke and reverse turn to dodge their rounds ^^ Most of it is all personal preference but I would argue proxy radar and EOD hud are must haves for any tank. Now if only they could add a beep noise to proxy radar blips, that'd be amazing! :D
Wrel Great video! It was really fun rolling with you (I'm still bummed I had to leave early), and we are definitely going to be doing more small vehicle support squads in the future. Keep up the awesome videos, and feel free to hit us up again if you need anything. -[V] Fireclaw
I havnt played PS2 in a very long time for one specific reason once in a while (about every 5 minutes) my screen goes completely black, to fix it I have to go to in infantry/vehicle screen at first is was only annoying but now it seems to happen at exactly the wrong moment, me and someone else just started shooting at each other and suddenly I cant see a thing! I would love some help with this to figure out how to get it to stop
Some idiot was solo flying a Lib yesterday low around a base that had tons of vehicles and some Phalanx turrets, and when he tried to scoot away, I did the last bit of damage to shoot him down. He whispered me that I'm what's wrong with the game and told me to get out of the noob Skyguard. 10 minutes later, he flew behind me from a base that my faction controlled and he tankbustered me while I was focused on 3 Reavers close by. He acted as if I should be watching the sky and should have seen him, then while having a tankbuster and a Dalton, said the Skyguard was a crutch. He continued to whisper me and would not let it go. It was pathetic.
+MajorOcelot Yeah, many air-players are stuck up fools who think that they have a God-given right to decimate infantry. Its really annoying. Anti air is not OP, it is only OP if you blindly fly into it and don't pull back. lock-ons take too long to lock on for them to be used on the fly, and so if the pilot is using terrain and flight speed to his advantage then he has won already.
Lock-ons, from the Heavy Assault standpoint, are garbage anyway. I just get a hitmarker and then people scurry away or they take a few more hits before leaving, but I don't often get kills with any lock-on launchers. Some pilots are awful though. I once stood by a turret and shot down a Mosquito with a Sirius while it was hovering and firing rockets all around me. The funniest is when I see Galaxy pilots flip upside down, smack the ground, then a combined effort of AA, 20mm, rockets, etc. take it from 100-0. Even funnier, the Galaxies are loaded with passengers too stupid to bail, and whoever gets the last hit racks up 5+ kills.
+Alan Westrip Skyguards are very OP if you know what you are doing. This video has many helpful tips that will drive enemy ESF pilots completely insane. Its easy to just hop in and go dakka dakka dakka into the air, but if you sneak around, hold fire, wait a moment and pretend you go hunting some deer than you will rack up kills like mad and people will just hate you. I get so many tells of sweet despair sometimes, its hilarious.
I always run the proximity radar because 90% of all my deaths are from random light assaults dropping C4 on me and so many times i managed to retreat as an LA is hovering above me and dropping bricks in front of me as i retreat. I still think a single infantry soldier should not be able to oneshot a tank like that. A limit of one brick of C4 per soldier (and not oneshot a tank) would be the best. All my C4 experiences are frustrating and make me not want to play the game at all. T he skyguard itself is not that interesting of a weapon to me because it is heavily affected by terrain - SOE still hasn't decoupled the aim from the turret - you can see it in battlefield as it feels much better there on turrets.
Hey Wrel, you don't do videos like this very often, and i would like to kindly ask you if you can do more of these, as they are more useful. If they are more work or something, you don't have to do them, I just think they are more helpful in comparison to your other videos. Thanks
"Skyguard" is more like "I-Guard". Killing C4 LA's is top and easy, because of the Thermal Vision you can GAUGE how far something is to lead it easily at medium range. Which given the spread of the weapon, you can lead it without a zoom. This doubles as seeing a LA coming in to bomb someone. I suggest running Racer because when a lib comes in, you move out of the way and dancing around means little given they often hit ESF's at that range with ease. If you're horizontal to their attack (they go at your side/top) you can go forward/reverse. You also keep up with non racer Harasser groups this way on regular terrain. I prefer a 4x bolt action Infil with hunter cloak or Black Hand Stalker. Two reasons. Hunter lets you redeploy fast enough before it ends. Defend yourself from rocket heavies and AV turret engies. Self repair with infil, stealth with engineer. Engi needs AV turret because it can change to useful to pointless in some battles.
As always, your videos make me want to play PS2 again.. But I know its a trap! As soon as I join its mindless, pointless and detached grindfest. And coming from someone who actually enjoys the grind to some extent speaks volumes :D
Hopefully some changes will be made to get people excited again, in the future. I definitely know where you're coming from with the "pointless grindfest" bit. Glad you still enjoy the videos, regardless!
As much of a grindfest it is, I personally enjoy the game a whole ton as I mainly run with my close friends and the feeling from capturing the base and our outfit showing up is just pure ecstasy
Hey Wrel, love your content. I'd love to see a video on the best way to deal with Lightnings and other tanks. I'm not a tanker so theres no chance I can duel them. I'm a novice pilot and can't avoid the other ESFs and Skyguards long enough to kill anything. Finally most tanks are simply too fast for me to C4. Any tips? Additionally I feel like I don't make much of a difference in larger fights even after emptying the entire salvo in my T2 Striker. (not sure of the striker is good anymore, its from a long time ago when it was a lock on)
It is mildly embarrassing that I am nearly BR90 buy have yet to invest in a Skyguard. Just saved 1000 certs tonight, you've tempted me Wrel...I shall decide tomorrow.
Can you do a squad leader tutorial? I want to know your thoughts on what the best way to coordinate myself and 11 other players, other than just grabbing a Gal/Sundy and bum rushing a base.
A MAX might cost more than a lightning, but at least you can change your loadout mid fight at no resource cost (as well as be revived); and public players seem more receptive to MAX units. I'm not sure why this is, i guess because MAX units wont run you over whilst they're aiming at the skies and they're generally better cert farms when you support them. NS Bursters got nerfed to hell and back, they're not very intimidating at all and it's annoying because it was really the ZOE that killed the MAX AA airgame for everyone because that VS faction perk would melt aircraft (and sitll does). Despite this, i would generally agree the skygaurd is better if you don't intend to rely on other players for help/support. The manouverability you get with the lightning is invaluable for retreating for ammo and repairs. If you're fighting defencively against an enemy with a lot of AV, or just defencively in general i would suggest MAX, not least of all because you'll find yourself constantly flanked and interrupted operating outside of a base. If you're playing rogue or offensively then Skygaurd.
Hey Wrel, your Planetside 2 seems to be running pretty smooth. Would you be so kind and share your ingame Graphics Settings with us since a lot of people arent getting an acceptable Performance in Planetside, even with High End Hardware
-"skyguards are more survivable than burster maxes" um no. The day you can juke into buildings or up/down lifts and your hitbox shrinks 4 fold, that will be the day they out-survive maxes. -as for the comment about the double AA sundi, maneuverability

- Default Afterburner
- Max Hover Airframe
- Stealth (what ever you can afford)
- Firesurpression (whatever you can afford)
No need to grind that much.
It's gettin there!
***** True story.
wuts a skyguard
Daniel Ops An anti-air lightning machine gun.
Is there a comparison between Ranger and Walker AA attachments for ground vehicles?
Thanks for the info. I think I'll be saving for a skyguard next...
The feeling you get when the enemy ESF's just lazily move into your line of site...
Skyguard is my favorite vehicle in game and this video does it justice, only thing I would add to this video is some footage of 3-4 skyguard chasing away MBTs, it happens, and it is so much fun.
And here I thought I was gonna learn how to pilot ESFs. Oh well, maybe I'll get better at dodging flak.
Dodging flak is almost impossible. One of the best way to lessen the flak damage taken (from my experience) is shaprly lower your altitude and break line of sight.
Adrian Vierra distance if its light flak, and your relatively high up
if you take a shit ton of damage really quick, its better to dive and cut their line of sight
me i just spin or do a sharp 90°
I love this fucking thing. It lets you be a boss with a frame rate of about 3
Point about zoom vs. thermal optics: I agree that zoom isn't helpful while shooting, it does help spotting threats/targets from farther away.
Step 1: Pull skyguard
Step 2: Idle behind a small hill
Step 3: Profit
:P
Just kidding nice guide wrelly belly ;)
:P
nice consistent 10k SPH without having to repair dick. Only downside is you have to keep moving along to the next place the ESF's try to farm. So it's not 100% camper recommended
Lol, Joshino is so much better... Wrel needs to talk 18 minutes and Joshino braiks it down in 3 lines! Good job! ;-)
But doesn't Wrel go much further into detail...?
I only have one question.
Who's going to pay for my upcoming 10 moths of therapy sessions that I now will
have to take three times per week after watching this video?
gylle
I dont get it.
Bah, it won't be that bad. Maybe I'll do some Galaxy/Valkyrie guides to balance things out.
Wrel would be interesting to see a gal one, I wanna know if there is any use for the drakes.
xMElpx
he's an air player and now that most, if not all of the ps community knows about this awesome AA weapon, he will have a hard time surviving on Auraxis.
That charge on the Vanguard at the end, wrel you sir have balls of steel
I think I have a problem. I really, _really_ hate pilots, and I can't honestly say I know why. All that footage of aircraft getting shredded excited me rather more than it should've.
Flak for the flak god, flak for the flak god!
tell me have you seeen the marvelous breadfish! :D
Swimming in the ocean waters!
nice chaos reference
Ah, the skygod. Allows you to completely nope enemy aircraft. Except on Hossin.
If you roll with a friendly tank column, you're basically onstoppable.
Thank you Wrel for making this skyguard video. I started out only wanting to play sky-control back in beta and then on launch.
Perhaps my setup and suggested scenario scene can help give another / more detailed opinion on the subject:
I run nanites, fire suppression, rival chassis. on the gun I do zoom and I've got that reload and ammo pretty high up.
( once in esamir i was heading to a fight, hen i saw a lib flying really low chased by some mossy... i guess lib was surprised to jump around a hill to find a skyguard XD)
one thing very important to remember, when defending aim for galaxy, often i saw 2 or more of them at max altitude, stayd above capture point to serve as a direct respawn ( and infantry and max can't aim at them as they are to vertical)
lastly always be aware of surrending and move often, a lib who took dmg will often get out from the back, or some ESF
I've actually started running roof armour on my skyguard and found it's pretty useful when facing pissed off pilots that want revenge
Thank god! I thought you died Wrel! Seriously I was distraught not seeing any of your videos in my sub feed, thanks for another useful video.
Watched this video several times, just realized it was Wrel himself that killed me and made me swear off Piloting Mosquitos forever @ 3:55.
Thanks, Wrel!
This is by far the best youtube informational video out here great job man im very impressed doing hw while watching this :D
Skyguard TTK Liberator ~ 20 seconds ish...
Liberator TTK Skyguard - 3 seconds flat.
Balanced ? - NOT. Solution - Give Skyguard highly increased TOP armor.
EXACTLY! its so utterly stupid. you drive a highly specialized FLAK vehicle and you can barly get a libby down to half health before he starts pissing him self laughing over your burning wreck ..... WTF
the only thing you can kill reliably with it are slowboating skynoobs in an ESF but 9 out of 10 ESF boost away into cover after recieving the first hit.
Note to the 700 SC price: You can get it cheaper with the Lightning bundle, which also includes the (now not as useful) HEAT, for 600 SC iirc.
Yeah that is how I got my skyguard and lolpods :P
incredibly good video ! definitely agree about thermal. zoom is simply not necessary and only screws my sensitivity up.
Stealth + top armor + IR smoke = one tough skygaurd
The IR smoke is useful for hiding from attacking Liberators. in a typical attack run, they swoop in and hit you with the tank buster, and then pull up for the kill shot with the Dalton.
Good to see you with vindies in some of the video :)
I've shot down probably 1000 scythes with the sky guard, but only have gold medal because vs pilots bail as soon as they take any damage lmao
In other words, I hate tying myself to a role for too long a time and would rather adapt on the fly, which a skillsuit allows for.
it takes less resources to pull 2 lightning tanks (aa, then switch to whatever)
than 1 max
Da Bpark
Wat?
Lightning: 350 resources
MAX: 450 resources
TheUnchainedMind
Da Bpark
On top of that, you can switch loadouts as MAX, but not Lightning.
TheUnchainedMind oops. mistake on my part :P
*****
I can't remember the last time I had shotguns in the open.
I would also like to suggest ammo printer to eliminate the need for resupply towers
I wish TI Alloys was randomly generated each unlock - this old layout is nice for crown sniping
Drop smoke and reverse turn to dodge their rounds ^^
Most of it is all personal preference but I would argue proxy radar and EOD hud are must haves for any tank. Now if only they could add a beep noise to proxy radar blips, that'd be amazing! :D
Lightning: Fav. Target for every Vehicle. Can kill a Lightning with one Mag tankbuster, one Dalton shot, one lol-pod mag, one c4 most of the time.
Wrel Great video! It was really fun rolling with you (I'm still bummed I had to leave early), and we are definitely going to be doing more small vehicle support squads in the future. Keep up the awesome videos, and feel free to hit us up again if you need anything.
-[V] Fireclaw
Keep up the good work wrel.
Nice! Will you do a TAR review for the TR medic anytime soon?
Wrel could you perhaps make a infiltrator cloak review and guide video containing information on all 3 cloaks? Btw- congrats on BR 100
I havnt played PS2 in a very long time for one specific reason
once in a while (about every 5 minutes) my screen goes completely black, to fix it I have to go to in infantry/vehicle screen
at first is was only annoying but now it seems to happen at exactly the wrong moment, me and someone else just started shooting at each other and suddenly I cant see a thing!
I would love some help with this to figure out how to get it to stop
Wrel i cant believe you are close to 50k. I remeber when i subbed you had like 5,000
Some idiot was solo flying a Lib yesterday low around a base that had tons of vehicles and some Phalanx turrets, and when he tried to scoot away, I did the last bit of damage to shoot him down.
+Alan Westrip
Skyguards are very OP if you know what you are doing.
Ah, there's nothing sweeter than those salty hate-tells from your victims.
Thanks
Nice vid Sir, more please !
I've always used the Stealth loadout. I use zoom though, just personal preference.
6:55 - you forgot to mention this
"When you need anti air when the base is being camped by max instagibbing banshee mosquito shitters"
thank me later
I run fire supp racer top armor skyguard, is epic. Hard to hit me in panic mode, hard to damage me effectively from the air at all.
When I see a skygard I'm up for a challenge!
Wrel, please make skyguard ~750 certs and 500 DC to unlock so more players are inclined to take the anti air route. :)
Is that you Romah?! 2ndrcn is dead now :(
Hey buddy! Sorry to hear 2rcn went down..
Who were you in game?
If you want to keep in touch, add me on fb.
facebook.com/rommah
HeyKiddos here ;), Sadly the website and vent, went down. Hope to talk ta ya later.
steamcommunity.com/id/Pigglez/
As much of a grindfest it is, I personally enjoy the game a whole ton as I mainly run with my close friends and the feeling from capturing the base and our outfit showing up is just pure ecstasy
Great kill on Akon, I lol'd pretty hard when I saw it at 14:20
Hey Wrel, love your content.
(not sure of the striker is good anymore, its from a long time ago when it was a lock on)
I love the Sky-guard.
It is mildly embarrassing that I am nearly BR90 buy have yet to invest in a Skyguard. Just saved 1000 certs tonight, you've tempted me Wrel...I shall decide tomorrow.
I still prefer my duel MAX busters over the Skyguard due to the increased capacity (if you get it) along with faster velocity and being more mobile.
Thanks again for the great vid.
wait you can go third person? I've been playing for 5 years now and I didnt know that.
Can you do a squad leader tutorial? I want to know your thoughts on what the best way to coordinate myself and 11 other players, other than just grabbing a Gal/Sundy and bum rushing a base.
can this be updated with the new lightning radar
+boom bot The description has the update in it. Not worth completely redoing a video that's still entirely relevant.
oh ok didn't look there XD
Can you do more vehicle guides? Like the magrider?
I think I want to try out the Skyguard now.....
Would you be so kind and share your ingame Graphics Settings with us since a lot of people arent getting an acceptable Performance in Planetside, even with High End Hardware
it has nothing to do with graphics settings. its the game being buggy
-"skyguards are more survivable than burster maxes" um no. The day you can juke into buildings or up/down lifts and your hitbox shrinks 4 fold, that will be the day they out-survive maxes.
-as for the comment about the double AA sundi, maneuverability
Not sure why you're cherry picking information without looking at the overall point being made. Kind of silly.
and from the vids i've seen, sundies are kinda of enemy number one whenever air spots them... while a lightning is kinda eh...
For leading up , a good training is to play Halo custom edition with at least 150 ping
Wrel shot at my outfit galaxy, swell with pride. [VG] "Sorry, I'm new"
I wanna see someone do a swarm of 10 of these things >:D
Not sure what you should do next, honestly... Tips and tricks?? :P
I actually got air deterance with a phalanx turret when a Reaver(NC)was stupid enough to get close to me and got shot down by me.
Though it was because I was about 20 meters away from it.(It took 1 shot to take it out.
+Sunny Wu I got an air deterance with a lightning with AP rounds once, I could feel the rage of the pilot.
Why not is some like ZSU 23 gun but without radar ... We still need SAM cars or tanks in game ...
How about equipping a lightning with lock-on rockets?
Rock an Archer with this for backup versatility
Nothing beats taking out an ESF with the Python HE...
Liberator Duster video please!
How do we get air superiority?
Make sure only you are the only one with air.
I was on vanu and i saw 15 skyguards from NC .... they shredded ewerything that the saw...
GD-7F For the NC review please.
hey, how do you get your youtube sign as a decal on planetside 2 ??
