I think it would be a massive disappointment if Emery wasn't to take this game seriously given the "150th anniversary game" PR, special kit, special pricing etc. It's being billed as a huge and momentous game for the club so if he fields a weak team and we get rolled over by a bang average West Ham side I think that would leave attending fans with a bitter taste. I think he'll take this one seriously and see Martinez playing, Maatsen, Mings, Konsa, Cash, Onana, Barkley, Bailey, Rogers, Ramsey, Watkins
Never want to see Olsen in a villa shirt ever again, why do we have him? We have arguably the best gk in the world and absolutely nothing in reserve. I dont think people realise how much of a priority a decent back-up gk should be for us. What would happen if Emi got a serious injury? What was the point in buying Gauci if hes still playing second fiddle to Olsen? Want to see him getting more game time when possible. UTV
The last thing we need is AI in football, either VAR needs to be based on a Manager/Time out limited number of challenges, or the appeals process needs to be more robust. But as it is currently used VAR is a joke, and in the stadium its bewildering as a spectator.
I love the podcast and rarely miss an episode. But I think, Dan, you’ve got your maths wrong to the best of my knowledge. The club was formed in November 1874 and we will be in its 150th year until 26 November 2025.
VAR has potential to be good. Decisions need to be quicker, and if that isn't achievable then original decision should stand. I watched Liverpool on boxing day and an offside decision took an age to make on VAR when the linesman had already made the right call. If you can't do it in 30-60 seconds, then trust the officials Communicating to crowds in the stadium needs to be better. And to be honest, I think the rules need to be better. There are too many grey areas which cause inconsistency. Fernandes has a similar situation to Duran where there's a slip/imbalance, his red card gets overturned but Durans doesn't. Meanwhile, a Brighton player can literally throw a threatening elbow at a player a day or so later (which is violent conduct whether he connects or not) and that isnt even a booking. And then we've got a Wolves player who can basically assault a member of staff at a game, and he gets less of a ban than Duran. There has to be some consistency and some common sense. If all of these players got a 3/4 match ban then we'd probably accept it but the fact that Villa seem to be punished more leaves an us against them mentality and that's not useful for the officials who are already doing an incredibly difficult job.
PGRefs . Whatever they are called have said they want to make the decision on field the important/correct decision. VAR has been told to accept the refs decision unless it’s massive wrong . The audio says JD rakes his studs down the players back . He catches his arse and lifts his foot so makes no contact with the back . Let’s just accept they messed up and move on . UTFV
The main problem with VAR is this 'clear and obvious error' nonsense. If its wrong, it's wrong. If it's right, it's right. What is the point in having VAR if they say " the ref's got it wrong but he hasn't got it wrong enough" ?!?! Absolutely mental, big believer in VAR but it's pointless if not implemented properly. UTV
@@Bobby_sprinkles yes sorry i like to comment as it helps the algorithm , i was pretending i didnt realise the silly aggressive matcho pose the players put on for publicity photo's wasnt indictive of their mood , my real thought on it is why do they do that its embarrassing
100% right Dan, the play acting from Newcastle convinced the ref to issue the red, clear as day with the audio...madness...
This is so fixable but Villa never help themselves and McGinn IS the Captain, but isn’t a Captain if ya feel me
I hope we take the FA Cup serious I would love to win it Dan I'm also loving the one off kit. UTV
Looking at Dave Reed, you just know he looked exactly the same when he was eleven years old, with the possible exception of the five o’clock shadow.
October 1974 is a date given for foundation of Villa so that date last year is 150 years old..Still accepting.
Its not so much the first XI, but we cant have a bench with nobody on it - like we did with the Palace cup game.

Idiot Chris Heck shouldn’t be making/forcing any decisions imo

Let’s hope Aston Villa finally play a proper cup game, it’s so unfortunate the way the club presented itself on the last years

Dan, love the show but do me a favour - lower the volume of the intro music; it's painfully loud if you set the volume of your TV for dialogue 👍🏻
100% agree, not just this channel but a few podcasts i listen to. It's a nightmare when you're using earbuds😂
Now im becoming tech aware, i will do this
@@danbardell8616 Thanks Dan. FTLOPM pod also similar, deafened for the 1st 5 seconds, waking the dead at 1AM📢 Cheers for the all the pods. 👍
I don't think it's that bad. Vocals could be put up maybe 5/10% and it would match it when I listen on my phone 🤷♂️

Good question?
Antony Taylor conned into the sending off ,
What’s odd is Emery has spoke of his desire to win a trophy. So is he just talking about a European trophy or the league?

Once a player is sent off it is a turnoff for spectators..

i know we are rubbish but why do the players look so grumpy in all the publicity pictures ? john mcguinn looks like he neds a cuddle
Don't get me wrong, we've not been amazing this season but rubbish...we're hardly Southampton
