Thank you for asking my question. Yes, you're always very balanced and it is always good to hear the background of how your roles work especially with interactions with the club. Thanks guys.
Calling people 'tourist' fans is such gatekeeping. I've basically supported Villa since birth because my dad is a Villa fan. I don't live locally to Villa and even if I could manage to get a ticket, the finances of it all would cripple me if I were to go regularly if at all. I hate the idea that if I managed to go once a season I would be considered a tourist fan when I was literally bullied at school for years for supporting Villa.
Happy New Year folks. Good podcast and insights as always. I would be classed as a tourist fan as I don't live on the mainland and therefore can't afford a lot of games. I do believe you need a balance between the core crowd and the tourist fans as tourist fans are, I believe, more likely to spend a lot more money for their day out and the club need that money. We obviously need the core crowd to generate the atmosphere and you are the building block of the club. UTV
I went to Bayern and there was plenty of tourist fans around me - one American bloke had to explain to his mate who Birmingham City were - but that was also one of the best atmosphere’s I have experienced in a while. The main problem is when you are watching boring slow football against poor opposition - there is nothing to cheer and bring us out of our seats
Duran red card still frustrates as it was clearly an accident, after the Jiao Pedro clip it is clear the decision was purely biased as John says towards Duran and not for the incident..as usual its quickly brushed under the carpet to protect the PGOML!
That was well planned by the geordies, the way they crowded baldy ref and not been charged for crowding yet Chelsea have, Duran will never forget Schar.
Thanks for all the content guys really appreciate it keeps me entertained on commute to work. I think the FA cup games we need to prioritised as it’s a chance at europa league and might be a way of keeping Europe for next year?
Regarding ticket prices - Villa know they can take advantage of this being our 1st season in CL as fans feel they have to be there however after being fleeced repeatedly, the fallout will be next season when a lot of fans will likely stay away as the novelty factor will be gone but the expensive prices will remain. Heck should be careful of taking advantage this season and thinking he can do the same again next year and the year after etc etc
Good points on ticket prices. Why do any of you (viewers) support Villa? Especially those of you born in the early-mid 00's where your first memories are the Lambert and Remi Garde/relegation period? Dogsh*t times, but because you were taken to Villa park by a father, a brother or uncle, or nowadays a mother, sister or auntie... you fall in love with it. Cheering on YOUR team through good times and bad times... but with the current trend, local and the 'working' man can no longer afford to go. Supply and demand, ok, but give it a few years and that fan 'passion' will be gone. Full of corporate and 'tourists', it will be a sanitised, sterile environment like certain stadiums in the USA. Jo Bloggs from Aston or Perry Barr no longer gives a monkeys about the team down the road, he's never been as he can't afford to, his family never took him as a youngster and so he has no affiliation. He's more interested in (insert club here) who are currently the best performing team in the league. We blame owners for being greedy but where does that money go? Player salaries and agent fees. I'm sure it's sited somewhere it's been as high as 90%. Player A can't survive on £100kper week ( approx 150 x the average UK salary), they want £140k per week ( approx 200 x the average UK salary) . That's why we're seeing this drive to pander to corporate and tourists and charge the absolute earth for everything. Supply and demand, fine, but the game will either lose all sense of passion, or it will implode. Put limitless food in a fishbowl, the fish will keep eating more and more until it dies. Can't blame folks for no longer taking children when the day out now costs £100's. Desperately need some sort of financial reset. Sorry for the rant.
Not a rant, it's the truth. You should go down Villa Park & protest. Something might actually get done then if we go there & do it rather than venting on a YT vid that the club probably don't give 2 shits about. Time to stand up lads.
Could make changes to get a win against Everton and could loose both anyway, it’s the fa cup not caraboa if we won’t to be a top team about time we started taking fa cup serious
Why do some of us assume FANS from other countries cheer, sing or create atmosphere from STH in a different way? If anything they are MORE up for getting involved.. No?
I really hope we beat West ham, like John said, with a rotated team. But not as rotated as we have five 16 Yr olds on the bench. Ramsey, buendia, Onana, maatsen, philogene all start for me. And rest rogers, digne, kamara, Bailey.
ive mentioned exactly that months ago ,for someone who used to be a winger its strange ! stops plays backwards then puts up his arm . look out for it 😐
Overturning red cards seems to be arbitrary, when deciding Duran's fate all that needed to be asked was one simple question...Is it 100% clear that what Duran did was intentional ? If it isn't the sending off is more than enough of a punishment.
Goodness me the sense of entitlement of certain season ticket holders! 'Tourist fans' affecting the atmosphere? I've been attending 5-10 home matches a season for the best part of the last 15 years, and I've always sat in the Upper Holte (except for the first half of last season when the club locked club members out to make room for the Terrace View match-goers), so I can confidently say that every time I go I'm surrounded by season ticket holders; yet, a few exceptions aside more often than not it feels like I am one of the few ones actively chanting and making some noise. How about the atmosphere has been impacted by the fact that younger fans have been totally priced out, and life-long season ticket holders are simply getting older and cannot be arsed anymore? Just a thought.
For get the fa Cup fill the team with the young lads reserves we have quite enough on our plate as it is a game every 3 days ain't going to work for villa champions league is the main event more games means more injuries sorry guys may be next year utv
I get what your saying but do u think it’s fair on all the fans who went to league cup and is going to fa cup to watch us just give up and play the kids. I get with injuries, suspensions etc things we don’t need but I think we need to make an effort on all competitions

yeah its bollocks mate
me too !!!
@@SirUnaiEmery Well if Unai is saying it's bollocks, then it must be ;)
The guy messaged me since to say he worded his question wrong and didn’t mean it in that way
@ClaretBluePod thanks for sharing that ❤️

Everton at Home in the league cup last season was when Mcginn played left back

Maatsen needs to play and show if hes good enough and the fa cup is the place to do this 👌
Best performance ..Bayern...simply for the fact the team resisted almost constant pressure
Any news on antonio silva perfect for villa, keep up good work.

Do you work for Villa Dan and what position do you hold?
No, we work for Reach PLC, the parent company of Birmingham Live, Liverpool Echo, MEN etc. I’m a video/podcast producer.
@@ClaretBluePodnice to know thanks 😊

@chimaira67 - it hasn't been taken serious for 67 years.
You say that champions league ticket prices can’t be regulated but surely the away ticket prices are being regulated so why can’t home ones ?

Digne more reliable and experienced. Always involved in goals. Duran red card was ridiculous. PGMOL has it out for Villa.
Arsenal best game if Watkins had been on it that should and could have been a great win utv
agreed he should have scored a hattrick
Why does Marty Cash seem to shoot when a pass or lay off is best option, seen it a lot lost few games! Need upgrade asap

Gone are the, days of a cup game meaning a run out for Lansbury, Taylor & El Ghazi.
Which Taylor?
Just going off the title without watching - maatsen for me

The chap who asked that has since messaged to say he worded it poorly
Digne or Maatsen, Both, we need 2 LB's for rotation/injuries or have we forgotten that it's important to have 2.🤷🏻♂️
It’s to start
Before I hear your views I'm saying Maatsen.
“Villa’s second team is good enough to beat West Ham”… 😳
oh John… such an entitled silly comment
Maatsen , jimmy neutron too slow
For get the fa Cup fill the team with the young lads reserves we have quite enough on our plate as it is a game every 3 days ain't going to work for villa champions league is the main event more games means more injuries sorry guys may be next year utv
I agree, FA cup will be there next year, Champions league probably won’t be so let’s focus on that
I get what your saying but do u think it’s fair on all the fans who went to league cup and is going to fa cup to watch us just give up and play the kids.
I get with injuries, suspensions etc things we don’t need but I think we need to make an effort on all competitions
