Why would you compare the BT-50 model that was released alongside the Ford Ranger to the Ford Raptor, and evenso straight up to the 2018 models, the BT-50 and Ranger carry the same engine, transmission, suspension, essentially the same truck with different outer shells.
I will explain the thing. I saw this video a while ago. There is a trick here. Reading the comments it seems that people alway forget the main thing in 4x4 (or maybe no clue?). ((It is the fat 2.5” Fox shocks!)) The suspension is completely different. That’s why these racing shocks are very expensive. They are 2.5” - the compression and rebound are way better than these stock or 2.0” shocks.
Momentum and smooth throttle control are they key. It's easy to be an armchair critic, but it is quite easy to see in this vid. Great example at the 4 min marker. They went a bit quicker and cleared the first part of the hill with ease, having been stopped previously when going slower. But then as soon as they needed to maintain the momentum they lifted off the throttle getting stopped again. They would have been better off rolling all the way back and trying again. Off road driving is a skill you never stop learning at. The driver of the Mazda should watch this vid so that they can adapt their driving next time round.
look very different trucks, the mazda did lose slight momentum but the gearbox is vey different also plus the wide track on raptor..... bloody cant wait till my raotor arrives

This can never be a real comparison, that would be too difficult without a controlled environment. This is Father and Son enjoying off-roading together...except Father got stuck trying to make it up the obstacle, so Son decides to post this to UA-cam :)
Ford raptor has terrain management system making it easy for the engine to distribute enough power required among the tires. I believe bt 50 doesn't have these feature. Though for power, i still prefer the 3.2L set up of the previous ranger. So all in all, i believe the tech on the raptor did the most part of the job there.
The engine does not distribute power. It is the gear box and traction control. I had this system (TMS) on a 2005 ranger rover. You can do the terrain modes manually i.e. sand mode (4x4, hi, traction control off, increase throttle response [if you have a throttle controller or just use a heavier foot]. Rock crawling (4x4, low, diff lock [reduce throttle response or use lighter foot])... etc.
