Had mine a few months now. Projector is better than expected. Camp out with a few beers and Wii sports on a 100" screen is a good laugh. It is ideal for retro games and the odd film. Surprised by the update to Android 14 and it was painless to do. Best phone I have ever had so far.
Thank you for this. I'm a professional outdoor instructor (multiply skill sets) and I've also never owned, carried, or wanted a cell phone in my life (believe it or not...LOL!) I've been considering the Tank 3 since it came out and this has been the best and most comprehensive break down I have seen of the device. Great job with that and thank you once again for sharing your views and experiences with this phone!!!
You are wrong about a thing in this video. It doesn't have a laser projector, but it instead has a Digital Light Projector. That is what DLP stands for.
Thanks for the review saw this rugged phone cause im clumsy and was thinking about getting it. Im happy to see a review with someone actually utilizing the phone.
No. I wouldn't trust it around water because of the vent opening, and I wouldn't drop it either. It is rugged on the outside, but the screen wouldn't survive a face drop.
It's the same, you will have different sellers as its a marketplace. 8849 is a subsidiary of Unihertz, the same company that made Blackberry Porsche edition. Here's a link to the official store of Unihertz/8849. Better to buy from them as you will get far better support in case anything goes wrong with the shipment. Currently on discount, 500 USD. s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DCSEAOt
Problem is Mali is not very well supported for emulation. Anyway I rooted the phone and still toying around with it - seems to be a pretty good phone overall. If you root an you do emulation, try putting all cpu's to performance if you want the best speed. I know some of the emulators are trying to the best of their ability to boost the CPU, but the best thing I have found is just to turn it the CPU7's directly unto Performance. Although it make the phone lukewarm over time and use - so.... But you only need it while you are doing emulation.
@@RandomTeq Well, that tends to follow along with freeing your phone and data - I can't have a phone where my user data is not accessible. My tank 2 pro did the same scared me a little bit got used to it now after 3 wks it no longer gets hot almost like it had to adjust to being plugged in to sockets
6-7hours use time with 22300mah battery? Are you serious?I have 5000mah phone and with Wifi 24/7 ,Data 4g5g 8/7,Bluetooth on 24/7,Gps On 24/7, Brightness 70-100max 24/7 get 6 hours screen on time. Maybe your unit is not good..

True, but it would make the phone far more expensive. They had to cut corners somewhere, sadly its the screen. Otherwise, it would have been the perfect phone!
Yes, it's IP68 rated, and there's an option on the software that helps lock the phone before taking it under water. I would strongly advise against it, though. Get a GoPro for that kind of activity.
Nice build but many problems. 1. No technical support in US or other countries outside of China. 2. Customer support ~ when it comes to dealing with China overseas to fix or replace these products you end up in long waits or getting brushed off. 3. No security updates and no IOS upgrades. For some that may not bother you like myself because there are other ways to secure your phones. Now by no means is this an attempt to steer people away from this phone because if you are into hiking, going on long trips or live in a region known to have power outages or bad to serious weather this phone is 100% idea for those situations. I plan on getting one but am waiting for a price drop. No way I will pay $700.00 for a phone that doesn't have security or IOS upgrades, maybe $399.99 but that's the most I'll pay. If China wants to compete in the phone industry they'll have to keep current software tech upgradable as well security updates. That's just my honest opinion.

Awesome! It's great to hear from someone who used it as it intended to be used!
I want to purchase for mainly emulator gaming on the projector. Was wondering if it can be used for remote play on a ps5. Any idea? Thanks
The processor is plenty powerful and should play remotely just fine. As for the Emulator + protector, you will need a controller, but it can be done.
Sorry but the phone Have panda glass so the screen cant break 😂😂
So is the projector good

Hi! Have you done any physical tests like water & drop test?
No. I wouldn't trust it around water because of the vent opening, and I wouldn't drop it either. It is rugged on the outside, but the screen wouldn't survive a face drop.
@@RandomTeq The vent opening? So would u say it's false advertising that it's water proof?
@@RandomTeq i also notice that's theres two different stores or brand selling the phone. Is the 8849 tank 3 Pro the same as Unihertz tank 3 Pro?
No, the advertising is true. Its IP68 certified. But I had comments stating that they damaged it using it to photograph under water.

Please can you tell if it's suitable for teaching in daylight, I'm talking about the projector
It's viewable, but not ideal. I can do the job, but I wouldn't depend on it .

Pleasure, thanks for tuning in.
It has A DLP projector not laser
Apologies!
can somebody explain to me why i don't have the app: fan cooling in my tank 3 pro toolbox like this youtuber does.
I don’t have the phone but maybe an update?
Did you get Android 14?
nice overview. appreciated
Thank you so much!
Usb c 3 ?
Didn’t get your question.
No, it only has 2.0
I just got my tank 3 pro :) is it normal for it to get really hot as it charges?
Yes, alot hotter than the regular smartphone.

I'm being very conservative, 6 to 7 screen on, hotspot, Bluetooth, location service and UA-cam in background.
I think it is these hours of daytime use for 5 to 7 days a row. Or?
Correct, 6 hours of use can last for about 5 to 7 days.
Shame about the lack of updates
From what I have read, they do release an update once a year or so.

What A WASTE of a video! Zip on the SOFTWARE!! Out of the box, I have no navigation buttons on the bottom of the screen!!!
They can be enabled from the settings. By default, it uses gesture control. You simply need to change to navigation buttons.
Navigation buttons suck.
