    As long as Marcus is singing, and Winston, Ted, and Ben are playing beside him, we have nothing to complain about. Their "sound" is whenever they're on stage performing. No matter what genre it may sounds like, or if there's a banjo or not. Wherever THEY are, that is Mumford & Sons

      Michael Cathcart The audio effect on his voice that can be heard on the studio version is gone. The song sounds better without it in my opinion.

      Michael im pretty sure this is a live version. They have a few missed guitar notes. Bands do not put screw ups in an actual recording

  • @Papusiakk

    Let's face reality, they could not make another album with the same style without sounding repetitive. They have the same passion and emotional level as in the past, they've just changed direction, no way they've sold out. Just respect their decision and if you don't like the sound, stop listening. Whether you like it or not they're not changing their music because of your stubborn opinion.

    • @a.7801
      @a.7801 9 років тому +16

      Papusiakk I'd say this is the exact opposite of selling out !

    • @SloeElvis
      @SloeElvis 9 років тому +19

      Papusiakk There's no such thing as a stubborn opinion.
      This sounds good, but the uniqueness they previously had was what kept people coming back and never getting tired. This is JUST. ANOTHER. BAND. Mumford wasn't just another band. I'm obviously not saying I'll start hating or humiliating them for doing whatever they want with their sound, but you'll have to forgive me if I want to express some frustration for seeing a band that was previously so unique become so generic.

    • @Papusiakk
      @Papusiakk 9 років тому +17

      Arne Schoups Exactly, they could keep making the same music (even though they were tired of it) or reinvent themselves and play the music they wanted as musicians, probably losing some of their fans. They've gone with the toughest one, nothing but respect for these men.

    • @Papusiakk
      @Papusiakk 9 років тому +8

      André Muricy I'm with you, I was disappointed too when I first listened these new songs, then I gave them a second, third (and so on) listen, and to me they don't sound bad at all, it's simply not Mumford&Sons but a good sounding band with Marcus's raw voice (New Basement Tapes project may have influenced this change). I don't get on well with people who hate on them while professing to be big fans and supporters; I have faith and I hope the remaining tracks will astonish me, who knows? maybe this will go down just as a transition album and they will come back with their old style in the future, fortunately they've said they will play the old songs too on tour. Have faith!

      Chrisko1492 It happens to almost every folk/indie/alternative band or singer, at some point they end up in mainstream. Mumford and sons has done it, Of monsters and men seems like they didn't do it with the album they're releasing this year and I'm waiting to see if the lumineers go mainstream with their new album this year.
      I don't criticize them, it's their music and if I don't like it someone else will and in the end I can choose not to listen to it.

    • @154jorge154
      @154jorge154 9 років тому

      Chrisko1492 Well I guess it is a pity when you're looking forward to new music of a band or singer you really like and it's not what you expected. It happened to me.

      @jackward5204 9 років тому +7

      Ok they did not piss on their fans for changing their sound. If they made another album just like their others they would've gotten bored and eventually broken up. The do not have to make exactly what the fans want every time. It is THEIR music.

    • @bluegreen5377
      @bluegreen5377 9 років тому +3

      Michael Cerulo so you're saying they should keep on making music they grew tired of, because some fans don't like this change? They should stay the same, because fans bought their 2 albums? Are those albums going to disappear or get worse now? Kinda seems like those "loyal fans" were fans of their music style not the band itself.

    For those who can't adapt to the new sound of M&S, just play their previous album. Why keep complaining? This band is evolving, both in terms of their music and their presence in the industry. Change is hurt for those who enjoy the comfort zone, I know it. It's like seeing your girlfriend in the high school becomes extremely gorgeous and sexy in the college--and you just shocking. The change will hurt you because basically you are jealous: You afraid that your girlfriend become very popular and many people will adore her. You want the old M&S because you are selfish. In fact, this band with the new format and sound will attract more fans... more popular and become a music legend!

    • @Nauro50
      @Nauro50 9 років тому +2

      Berbagi Inspirasi Because it's evolving into a general sounding pop/rock crap. Their biggest charm was their unique sound and their instrument setup. Which they just threw away in last two songs. Waiting for a full album, but...

      Zdeněk Vilušínský In no way was there sound unique. Having a banjo doesn't make a band unique, there are plenty of bands with acoustic instruments playing in a weird fusion of indie/folk/bluegrass/rock. What makes them unique is them. They put so much energy into every song, Marcus, Winston, Ben and Ted make mumford and sons, not what instruments they happen to be playing.

    • @edlavis
      @edlavis 9 років тому +1

      Changing their sound is something Mumford had to do. I've seen them live twice once in a small venue and once on a huge open air festival stage and their folk style is amazing in a small setting but it just doesnt translate to a bigger stage. If they want to do stadium tours they needed to develop a more anthem based sound - which their new songs are. I think they've nailed it

    Wide-eyed with a heart made full of fright
    Your eyes follow like tracers in the night
    And the tightrope that you wander everytime
    You have been weighed, you have been found wanting
    Been wondering for days
    How you felt me slip your mind
    Leave behind your wanton ways
    I want to learn to love in kind
    'Cause you were all I ever longed for
    Sheltered, you better keep the wolf back from the door
    He wanders ever closer every night
    And how he waits begging for blood
    I promised you everything would be fine
    Been wondering for days
    How you felt me slip your mind
    Leave behind your wanton ways
    I want to learn to love in kind
    'Cause you were all I ever longed for
    Hold my gaze love, you know I want to let it go
    We will stare down at the wonder of it all
    And I-I will hold you in it and I-I will hold you in it
    Been wondering for days
    How you felt me slip your mind
    Leave behind your wanton ways
    I want to look you in the eye
    'Cause you were all I ever longed for
    Been wondering for days

    Not the same sound, but the Album is sure to still be amazing. I'm hoping it'll be a 50/50 on Folk & Rock.

      Matthew Smith It won't be folk. I heard them play the entire album at a little concert and the banjo isn't in any of the songs. The album is still great, but it isn't folk.

    • @louisg8581
      @louisg8581 7 років тому

      AlyMea I dont think the banjo is necessary required for folk, and even though there are no acoustic instruments at all, it still has marcus' distinctly folky voice, so its still very appealing!

    I'll always love the previous albums, and I'll miss the banjo. However, if you listen, really listen, its still Mumford and Sons. Now it's just like Shakespeare with rock.

    I love Mumford & Sons but another folk album was risking the premise of them sounding exactly the same. This change up is perfect. The lyrics with emotion still cut deep while this time you can rock out the guitar solo's and the drums blasting. There are elements on folk embedded in this and Believe and this is what makes Mumford amazing.

    This song is pretty damn great, didn't like "Believe" all that much, but this song has more of the Mumford vibe while being a completely different genre than the usual Mumford.. Can't wait to see what the folk-version will sound like once (or if) M&S go back to the folk-sound!

    people are complaining about the new sound and how band have changed their direction. For me this band's music sounded beautiful the way it was but I can still say, that Mumford & Sons are still as amazing as it was, just a little bit different. So please, stop complaining about changes. If you don't like the new sound listen to some older songs and just be happy:) Peace :D

    If this is the new style Mumford and Sons are going with, then fair enough. Every band need's to experiment in some way shape or form, Coldplay has done this with many albums and I will follow them through to the end.
    But that being said, I will miss that English Folk style they had going. I thought it was the perfect blend of old-school and modern folk/rock music they had going (the kinda music you sit back to and have a beer at the pub with) will be a shame to see that fade away, though I'm exited for anything they have new coming up nonetheless.
