- I take apart an ABU Ambassadeur 9000C multiplier sea fishing reel, a 1972 model, which had some minor problems, just needed lubrication and freeing up. Part 2 to follow.
Always been more interested in the equipment than the fishing Clive. You've just reminded me I've got a reel. Can't remember if I bought it, or someone gave me it. Think? I got it at a boat jumble. Only fishing I enjoyed was Mackerel fishing in the Wash. Went out a few times with Wud. Once actually caught 6 lol. Just kept a couple of cheap rods on the boat, just in case anyone wanted to use one kids etc. Could even have been pound shop ones.
I've been interested in fishing all my life Malc, but wish I had a bit more time to go!
I had one of these, probably still kicking around somewhere. I hope you didn't try disassembling the gears as the two-speed retrieval system is horrendously complicated. I speak from experience as mine never worked properly after I did.
Well, you can see from the two videos what I did. Stripped it just about all the way, and seems to work nicely now it's back together. 🤔👍
Mr CMH Better man than me then - I'll send you mine! You can have a go at that.
@@annoyingbstard9407 Small hammer and a spray of WD40!! Fixes everything! 👍
No, ... It's not… it's quite simple... The entire reel was designed to be simple and efficient reels and they still are to this day...I know this because I own 3 of them... Have taken them completely apart and put them back together again.. and worked seamlessly...
I have 2/ 10000c’s and 1/9000c. They all have been well kept… the last 10000c I bought 2 weeks ago and it was unused sitting on a shelf in Japan for the last 50 years. Now I own it… it's a beauty..!
Can this model use for surf casting?
This model could be used for surf casting, but it's probably ideally suited to rock or light boat fishing. A modern surf casting reel might be better, even a big fixed spool, but depends where you are in the world really.
that does not look like an abu handle. it looks much like a daiwa sealine handle
That's a thought. It seemed to fit OK, but was sticking. I got it when my brother in law bought a tackle shop, if I recall correctly. You might be interested to see my video 'Time capsule tackle shop' which explains that.
It’s definitely not an Abu handle.
