"You didn't want the transfer order, you wanted to see Jessup's reaction when you asked for the transfer order. You had an instinct..."
The key to the whole movie in one sentence. Sometimes we are lucky to have people in our lives who see things in ourselves that we don't even see. I'd bet you dollars to donuts that line was written by Sorkin in honor of his sister, whose experience as a JAG inspired the story.

This scene is pretty bittersweet given that her reaction during trial instead of criticizing the physician like what cruise was going for instead appeared to the jury clearly that the physician was an expert who's opinion was damaging to the defense.
And granted that would have really only bought them time and the "suicide" of markinson would have lead them down this same road, her Ill placed bravado for her clients is digging them deeper into the grave than pulling them out. At the end of the day Cruise's character was right: the best way to defend them was to have them accept a plea deal. Fighting for them, however many leads there were, was a losing battle from the get go. She really wanted those boys to walk innocent but at the end of the day as the movie says they were far from innocent for what they've done

The part of this scene that grabs me that no one ever talks about is when Danny says that he thinks his father would have loved to see him graduate from law school. This is very poignant. At this point he realizes that he is no longer in his father's shadow and that his dad would have been proud of him. You can see in his face how much that meant to him. Shows that his father was all business even with his son and it was at that moment that Danny appreciated that.

Was I the only one who was thinking why Kaffe was soaked and wet when first got in the house, I know it was raining but he has a car and it's like he was walking in the rain, and also why did Galloway just took off walking in the middle of the rain as if she couldn't be called a taxi and last, why did Sam let Kaffie drive when they went to get Galloway when it was already understood that Kaffee was drunk! So the irony here if a cop would've pulled him over that would have been a Navy officer who happened to be a lawyer in the JAG! LOL!!!! I LOVE HOLLYWOOD MOVIES!!!!

Jo was an idiot and a delusional idealist. Kaffee saved his own ass by merit of his own intelligence, his only mistake was getting involved in a case like this in the first place. In real life, there’s no chance some idiot attorney like Jo would’ve done what Kaffee pulled off.

She deserved a kick in the ass... Her "ready, fire, aim" approach was dumb, naive, irresponsible, reckless and damn near destroyed the case for both her and Kaffee's client... Plus on top of that, if Jessup wasn't such a hothead their careers would have been suicided...
She was truly best suited for internal affairs and I mean that sincerely. In a court of law, I wouldn't trust her to be a stenographer 😅..

People may think this overstated about him being court martial. I did a case ar Fairchild AFB. I am a civilian. I filed a motion to have the judge removed for conflict of interest. I am a civilian. However, we are assigned a military lawyer, to ensure we are aware of UCMJ. Before the motion was heard my military adjunct had to appear before the court, ensure the court she had advised me not to file and did not support the motion. Funny thing, the Judge removed himself.
