  • I did a WOLF RUN | 10k Obstacle Assault Course | Leicester UK | Summer 2021 | AniCod Punishment
So as part of my punishment voted for by my UA-cam subscribers I'll need to run 20 miles. Well I thought I'd sign myself up for something a little more fun and viewer friendly.
I will be completing 2 x Wolf Runs in the UK. They're 10km per run and they're cross country obstacle assault courses that run 4 times per year.
There's a Spring, Summer, Autumn and winter Wolf Run. I will be completing the July 5th 2021 Summer and September 5th 2021 Autumn assault coarse.
I have had very little training to run this Wolf Run and I struggled on some parts. I will be training every day for the next Autumn wolf run that's on the 5th September 2021.
I will be completing all 4 seasons to earn my alpha wolf shirt.
    The wolf runs in 2021 run from the below locations;
    Leicestershire (Leicester)
    Stanford Hall, Lutterworth, LE17 6DH
    Warwickshire
The Offchurch Bury, Offchurch, Leamington Spa, CV33 9AW
The summer and autumn 2021 wolf runs will be taking place in Leicester

Well done. My daughter and I were marshalling this event both days. I liked that you put your helpful tips in the video, mine are to suggest leggings with base layer, merino wool socks and some trail running shoes. Mine don't have laces, it's a pull fastening and the grip on the sole is phenominal. We saw people without footwear and that's really not a good idea and you don't want to lose footwear half way round!
We'll be marshalling in September too so will look out for you then ;)

That is awesome! I'll be coming more prepared in September!! You'll have to let me know the make of the shoes you recommend. Mine were awful in the mud, really grippy on the sole but not great to run in and got super heavy in the mud and water.

@@AniCodYT I have a pair of Salomon Speedcross 3 and a new pair of Speedcross 4's. They're super light, drain well and so easy to wash down and dry after, plus if you do need to take them off, the lace free system means that you can actually do it without wrestling with knotted laces that are difficult to undo when wet. They can be a bit tight across the foot, if you can I suggest Amazon Wardrobe and try your normal size and a half size up. Pair these with merino wool socks and you'll be comfortable all day.
It was quite comical for my daughter and I as we started Saturday in the torrential rain, were dropped off at our obstacle for marshalling, which first required us to cross an expanse of water. So from 9am, we started with wet feet haha and I couldn't dry them out for the Sunday morning so began Sunday with wet shoes. Hey ho! Though with merino wool socks, you quickly don't notice.
For autumn, defo recommend merino wool base layer and I have used thermal cycling bib as it's protective on the legs and that combination removes the cold water shock on entry.
I recommend a thermal base layer for your upper half too for Autumn. Merino wool is magic, if you're not aware ;)
Oh another top tip, forget the underwear, nobody wants chaffing and gritty bits...in your bits!
You'll know when you've found us in Autumn as our obstacle will be bouncing to the tunes via 3 JBL Boomboxes on MAX :)
Just read this, it seems the Speedcross 5 is more generous in fit www.runningxpert.com/en/inspiration/salomon-speedcross-5-vs-speedcross-4-test

Thanks for that. I'm running Spetember 4th. Any tips on going the full distance, training gone out of the window due to one thing and another... 😳.

Top tip have fun! I'll be running this day too.. tip 2, don't be disheartened when people pass you at speed and don't try and keep up with them, 9 times out of 10 you will catch up to them as they've wasted their energy in the first mile, just go at your pace. Tip 3 for someone that hasn't trained is walk on the up hill sections, they're dotted throughout the course, trying to run up the hills with limited fitness will sap your energy really quickly and you'll need every ounce of it to finish. It's going to be a cold muddy one :-)

@@AniCodYT Thanks AniCod, excellent tips that I will definitely take on board! Is it the obstacles, the cold water, or the mud that saps your energy the most? I know it's tougher running on grass than pavement, but am thinking the water crossing will have a big impact on my energy levels.

@@SootheSound I suppose It's different for everyone, the September one will be a lot colder and if you have a lack of fitness the cold water will be specifically difficult to recover from. Obstacles are ok really as you can take your time with them, the thick mud can weigh a ton if you wear the wrong clothing (like i did) then you're begging for a water crossing just to wash it all off haha. You'll be fine, it's a real laugh.

@@AniCodYT Agree. Definitely shorts and compression socks for me. I'll aim to run through the brook before the race to feel the effect of water on the legs. Wim Hof cold showers too! 🥶😂
