Synopsis:
The new ConeS Q-Series protein skimmers are made with new and efficient bubble chambers similar to ones found on our popular ConeS CO-Series. The bubble plate in conjunction with the custom diffusers are designed to efficiently mix air and water. More importantly, random twirling and turbulent flow is eliminated. A stable laminar flow is created inside the skimmer`s reaction chamber and maximizes the efficiency of the skimmer like no other design!
HIGH PERFORMANCE
AquaMaxx ConeS Skimmers feature high-quality Italian-made Sicce pumps. Each Sicce pump motor block is then modified and fitted with proprietary AquaMaxx needle wheel impellers. With the precise modifications and upgrades, performance is boosted much beyond that of a stock pump. The upgraded AquaMaxx ‘Shark’ pump is capable of drawing in significantly more air and chops them up to the optimum bubble size for protein extraction. These pump and protein skimmer combinations deliver unprecedented performance and reliability. Accumulated protein and organics will be vigorously removed from your tank so you can focus less on maintenance and more on enjoying your piece of the reef.
SUPERIOR DESIGN
AquaMaxx Cone-Series Protein Skimmers are designed from the ground up with the hobbyist in mind. A built-in air intake silencer reduces noise for near-silent operation. The hybrid-cone design maximizes the size of the reaction chamber and to allow the skimmate to smoothly rise into the collection cup. The advanced Bubble Chamber decreases turbulence and produced a stable laminar flow: which improves bubble transition and boosts skimmer performance.

I am starting my reef tank haven't received anything yet but bought an used FC-80. I have freshwater shrimps so this is a huge step up on the hobby. Keep it up with the videos! Love them
How exciting! What kind of tank are you going to get? Any ideas as to a stock list? Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@MyFirstFishTank I want to have soft corals on it, not looking forward for something too hard to maintain. Aa for fish thinking for a yellow tang, some ocellaris, hobbies and a shrimp, still not sure which. Really, a clean up crew! It's not too big, it is going to be a 50 gal tank with a sump, not sure which size should it be so any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks to you made up my mind for an aquamaxx skimmer! :D Will also have a biopellet reactor and that's what I have right now. Still stocking. Any idea, comment or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
I had a SCA that came with one of their aquariums. The skimmer (and the aquarium kit) were very low quality.
I had a hanging Aquamax. The quality was good and it pulled out some muck, very impressive. My Red Sea Skimmer spills out tons of microbubbles and it is very loud. I do like the drain and the cup wiper though.
I think protein skimmers are some of the most difficult pieces of gear in this hobby. I've probably used well over 10 at this point, and sometimes I get one that I just can never tune correctly. For example I was using this new reef octopus protein skimmer and it was terrible. But I swapped out for a different reef octopus skimmer and it works amazing!
I have one too and love it!
Sweet!
I used the Aquamaxx Cone C03 when I had my Red sea Reefer 525 it was quiet. Sleek, and powerful at the same time. Great skimmer for the money. Nice review Matthew
Thanks Darren. What's your go-to skimmer these days?
My First Fish Tank I currently have a Royal exclusiv Bubble king 300 with two Red Dragon pumps on my main display and a Vertex 130 on my frag tank
@@RogueAquariums you fancy!!
Have the DC version of the q-2 > DCQ-2 amazing laminar flow design always try to highlight as this is so important for efficiency.
Thanks for sharing! I'm a big fan of DC skimmers!
@@MyFirstFishTank The pump is from a famous american company that only makes pumps. It shows the total hours used along with power consumption and speeds. 12 watts is not uncommon for it as pretty low.
i just ordered a aquamaxx skimmer. I'm a little nervous as the skimmer model I purchased I could only find being sold at Marine Depot and couldn't find a single review or video anywhere. DFC-80 (not the FC-80) DC version. There are lots of reveiws and videos of the AC FC version. I'm hoping the sicce DC pump isnt complete garbage. Aquamaxx doesn't even list the DFC skimmer on its own website yet.
Hey Jason... I think you'll be thrilled with your purchase. AquaMaxx is actually the house brand of Marine Depot, so it's really hard to find anywhere except MD. My absolute favorite pumps in existence are Sicce pumps (well, outside of cobalt MJs). I've never had a bad Sicce pump. They are Italian made, high quality, and last for years. I think you won't just be happy with the DC pump... I think you'll be thrilled! But if I'm wrong, please let me know! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I went from that skimmer to the Bubble Magus Elite curve 7 ....great skimmer my store is converting to BM from reef octpus
So what made you change the the Bubble Magus skimmer? Did you have any problems or things you didn't like about the AquaMaxx skimmer? Thanks for watching and commenting!
My First Fish Tank didn’t like the aquamaxx was very sensitive and would often overflow I went from aquaxx to Bubble magus better build quality and cheaper replacement parts ,,,,, the whole replacement pump for the aquamaxx is almost 250 and up
@@greennavy2006 Hey, I really appreciate your feedback. Super helpful. I didn't realize how much the replacement pump was. That seems exorbitant to say the least! I haven't had the sensitivity problems with mine yet. But, do have the BM Curve for my new 40 gallon frag tank, so I'll be able to have a good comparison! Thanks again!
Just placed my order thank you 🔥 went with the Q3
Sweet!!! :-)
What water level are you using for the skimmer?
Right about 8 inches
First Comment! Great Video!
You rock!
