I've just recognized why you played the first version the way you played: that was the song version, which is interestingly slightly different (longer in the first part, and shorter in the final part) from the fully instrumantal version. This difference seems to be odd first, but when you learn the text/paroles of the song, it becomes completely meaningful immediately. Thank you for this wonderful music. Our band is still working on this song, but the instrumental version is now our "standard valse" for our sessions.
The second version starting at 1:03 is the widely played variety by a huge number of musicians.
