Thanks for this...although you may want to add some voice to the video - that stupid clip took me like 20 minutes to get in, and for those that don't know - THE BULB SITS IN THE SOCKET IN THE LIGHT SWITCH 1 WAY WHICH HELPS WITH THE REINSERTING OF THE CLIP !!!!! ----

It does. It rotates in the headlight and sits in the groove.

That looked like a total pain in the ass, light most headlights today, they give you very little room for your hands.

I'm kinda glad your did not make the clip look easy. Every time I replace these bulbs I spend at least a half hour this my hand in that tiny space fingers practically bleeding trying to get the clip to do what I want it to. You didn't struggle nearly as much but it gave me some satisfaction to know that it was not just me who struggles with it.

For the American Mazda 5, the bulb plugs need to both be vertical, as in the plug will be sideways when plugging it in (one plug on top of the other, not side to side). The housing for the bulb has an indentation that will hold a bend in the clip and allow the clip to go over the housing and hold it tightly in place, then you will be able to push the clip all the way back into the housing the way it should be. Hope that helps someone out.

The clip that holds the lightbulb socket in place just may be the WORST idea in the history of automotive design. The brilliant engineers at Mazda certainly complicated what should've been a 3 second process into an hour of utter frustration... 2008 Mazda 5

I agree. Not sure what 2008 Mazda was thinking

I broke the clip attachment point trying to remove the clip. What a pain. Fortunately the rubber gasket MAY keep everything in place, but IDK. I suspect I will now have to replace the entire driver side headlight benzel. Clearly Mazda invented a time machine so they could hire 1970's American automotive engineers to design this thing.

Great video it let me know what I needed to know for this particular vehicle 1 tip to pass along to anybody else that changes a bulb on any vehicle never touch the bulb with your bare hand because the natural oil in your hand will make the bulb burn out prematurely

I just did this on my Mazda 5. Two things: first the metal retaining clip goes over the black plug adapter. If you put it on over just the bulb first and will be too loose. This clip is very stiff and it is difficult to remove and replace, I couldn't do it with my fingers and needed pliers. Second, the retaining clip is too long and gets hung up on the inside of the headlight shell. This makes it 10x harder to replace the bulb. The solution is to cut a tiny bit off the end of the clip so there is clearance. DON'T cut too much or the clip will miss the part it hooks on.

It's much easier if you remove the black electrical adaptor from the bulb first. Then install the bulb, secure the clip and then replace the adaptor.
