Your expression was so sweet, imagine so many people who have not heard this man sing. They are really missing something beautiful, soulful and glorious. ❤
Regardless if you are familiar with, a fan (or not) of Opera as a genre, you can still appreciate the natural talent & dedication of this legendary tenor to become one of the best this modern world has ever seen. This was recorded back in 1994 when Luciano was 59 years old. How many modern day pop stars half his age can belt out notes like he did? Sadly, very few these days. This was back before auto tune & done in front of a live audience consisting of over 75,000 people. This is just an aria (solo part) of the opera "Turandot" by Giacomo Puccini, written in 1924 & first performed in 1926. The world lost a tremendous talent when Luciano passed away in 2007. I'm glad that my 2nd favorite tenor, Andrea Bocelli, is still alive & singing his heart out... When I was a kid I didn't like opera much because to my immature & unsophisticated ears, it all just seemed like a bunch of yelling done in singsong form & I couldn't understand the words. It wasn't until I was in my late teens/early 20's when I began to fully appreciate what it took to become a trained classical (aka opera) singer. You don't have to understand the lyrics in order to feel the raw passion behind each performance. Great music & incredible natural talent transcends all languages & ages.
Lovely to see your heartfelt and respectful reaction. This aria, sung by this man, is exquisite, and takes your soul up to Heaven. Pavarotti seems to channel something absolutely divine.
Also done by Sarah Brightman in her Harem concert, Las Vegas. I was present at the concert in S. Florida and the whole room seemed to lift off the floor: ua-cam.com/video/ih5FhZvDYlk/v-deo.html
You got it didn’t you? I could tell by your reaction. I cry every time I hear this song. The duet with James Brown is good, you wouldn’t think it would work, but it does.
You're so adorable! I love how genuine and honest your reaction is - you were caught off guard and it hit you hard. It's perfect because you felt it just as it was meant to be. :)
Luciano Pavarotti came from a musical family His father was also a tenor but persued a musical carrier. He was a baker and he had is own business. He was too comfortable to be on stage. Dear Luciano keeping on singing up there, I can hear you even if I don't see you.
@@leannsherman6723 my dear, I have seen him in person, and I have heard his magnificent voice 🙏🙏❤️. I will never forget that. Now those beautiful vocal cords that the Good Lord gave him, are singing in the heavens where God with all His angels, archangel and all the saints, including Mary, are all listening to him singing with delight. Le us not forget all the soul's, they took are enjoying this heavenly concert , especially Mr. Cattaruzza Dante. My Dante the opera lover. Bless his soul forever. I miss him so!!.
@@SandraSampsonColdfeet thanks, I caught up! A miracle, straight miracle :) I think I sent you this link already, but maybe now you want to follow my invitation to get yourself a little lesson on Puccini, Turandot and this aria... go have a glimpse at the Wikipedia article on 'Nessun dorma'. You don't have to read all the details, but don't miss the link towards the end of the article, there's a button to a historic recording of Nessun Dorma sung by Antonio Salvarezzo in 1948... you can compare how it was played and sung 75 years ago, and see if it does the same to you, or if it's the Luciano thingy... :) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nessun_dorma
No one has any prior warning, we all get our hearts snatched away! Pavarotti has performed this aria many times over the years, there are so many videos of his performances, and some are even better than this one. Also, there are many more videos in which he performs other arias from famous operas. I would love for you to react to his performance of "Vesti La Giubba", "Put your costume on", in which he sings to part of a professional clown who has just learned that his wife is deceiving him with another man. Type Vesti La Giubba English in the search box above and you will get it with the English translation. In this aria, Nessun Dorma, he sings the part of a prince who is waiting for the morning to come, when he will compete in a contest to win the hand of a beautiful but haughty princess. If he can not answer her three questions, he will lose his head. He is not afraid, he knows he will win (Vincera! Vincera!). The Princess is also awake, waiting for morning. The prince has kept his name a secret and the princess has sent her servants to the town to learn who he is. Nessun Dorma means "no one sleeps".
Sandra, thank you for honest and profound reactions to the aria. I saw you turning away and looking in the distance toward a higher realm. That's what this piece/performance does for me. It lifts me up. PS: Thanks for not stopping the recording mid-way.
I cried with you, love. This is what happens with nearly all who hear it. Don't miss any more. Expand your music experience. It is all beautiful and the language of all of humanity.
I know how the inmates felt standing in the Shawshank yard listening to the music from the loudspeakers. They didn't understand it but they stood still and appreciated it. Made my day too. 👍
This is the BEST reaction to Luciano Pavarotti on UA-cam. Dear Sandra, you’re supposed to cry. You’re supposed to be speechless. “Nessun Dorma” is an aria - that a song from an opera - and Pavarotti was the absolute master. Don’t worry about not being able to find the right words. You’re not supposed to.
You were right with him emotionally! God gave him a arch angels vocals. May I suggest listening to Nancy Wilson sing’Face it girl it’s over’. She has to tell her best friend that the relationship she is in is over. It’s from the 1960’s. But the best of heartbreak soul music from the American Black artistry. I first heard it in 1968 and have never forgotten it.
Luciano also duets with James Brown on Its a Man’s World- check it out! This song is from an opera by Puccini based on an old Chinese fairytale. He’s saying, “ I will win!” at the end. Opera vocal technique is the most difficult of all styles.
I listen to this song whenever this life gets me down. It makes me realize there is true beauty that can come from people. I know there is beauty in animals and nature. I know that for sure! But this helps me restore my faith in humanity.
I just wanted to tell you that the experience of your introduction to opera. I saw so much sadness and I experienced it with you. I knew when the music would grip you as it does me. I love you as a sister. I'm always here
Please listen to Angelina Jordan at age 7, she's now 17, sing Stormy Monday sung by Billy Holiday in 1941. I think you'll be amazed. Also, I Put a Spell on You when she was 11. It was written and sung by Sceamin' Jay Hawkins in 1956. I think love both of these. I loved your reaction to Pavarotti's Nessum Dorma. Alway made me smile big and also cry. Amazing. :)
If you really up for it try one that will stay with you forever. Jacqueline du pres stopped playing at the age of 28 from MS. This what we lost Elgar cello concerto. In Black and white. Her husband was the conductor, probably the most celebrated pianist in the world
Let me clear that up. Luciano father was also a tenor but was too shy to be on a professional stage, therefore, he never persued singing as a professional.
This was a beautiful reaction to the maestro and greatest of all time, Luciano Pavarotti. Thank you :)
God bless you for not stopping it to comment.

You are not speech-less at all. You cannot even speech for one second. Try to be speech-less.
Stop the background music when you are talking. It is just annoying and hides your voice.
