  • Just a quick-ish video to show you how to attach and then use the hemmer attachment (hem guide) for the JUKI MCS-1500N.
    I then share with you how I prepare the hems for stitching, before feeding the fabric in to the hemmer attachment and starting to sew. We then unhook the fabric from the attachment in order to complete the round of the hem. I also show you how to sew a narrower cuff hem in a smaller space.
    I hope you find this video helpful and that it is clear how to use the attachment to get great results with this very competent machine.
    Happy stitching everyone!

    Thank you so very much for creating this video! I was using the manual that came with my 1700 and I could not figure it out. Taking a stab at it now. Thanks again!

    Thank you for creating this video. I don’t have this machine yet, I’m in the process of researching and learning about the 1500 before purchasing. I found this video to be helpful.

    Thank you so much for this video. I've been thinking/dithering about buying the Juki MCS1800 - the current version of the older 1500 - plus the hemming attachment but it is really difficult to find out how to use them together. It is a huge financial investment and I wish that there were more really helpful practical examples like yours available. It is invaluable to be able to see how it is used in real life garment construction and pick up those little extra tips. I've subscribed!

      Hi, I felt exactly the same when I was wondering about whether or not to buy the Coverstitch as it was my first time with this machine. I must say that whilst I don't use it all the time, when I do it's perfect for the task. I obviously can't comment on whether it's sufficient an upgrade to make from your existing machine, but the hemmer attachment has made getting a neat finish around hems particularly easy. I still pin and press in place before stitching so that the hem is held and doesn't twist whilst I sew, but that's just to make sure it stays in place. The stitching has always been great and without any skipped stitches and I find it easy to thread and to use. Thank you too for subscribing - I'm planning more dressmaking videos as we speak, but half my subscribers are here for the stuffed toys and the other half for dressmaking so it can be challenging to get the balance right. I hope you enjoy my other videos and Happy Stitching! 🥰

    Does the hemmer attachment work well on very stretchy and light materials like bamboo jersey? Or does it just get bunched up?

    • @ClaireEngland1
      @ClaireEngland1  Рік тому

      Hi Ashlan, I've used it on the leg hems for bamboo jersey underwear for my hubby and I didn't have any problems with bunching up. I do hold the fabric in front of the presser foot and behind too (not sure if I have to or not, it's just what I've been doing) but I've not had any problems at all with the fabric feed. Is there a local supplier where you could take some fabric with you and give it a go? I hope that helps 🥰
