- Hey friends! A few of you have asked me whether it's normal to bloat and what causes it. I think bloating is really normal and I will bloat pretty much everyday even though what I eat in a day is fairly normal for me.

Today I'm showing you a more flexible diet as well as my workout which made me bloat. This is very normal for me and I don't stress about it but wanted to show you that it happens to all of us (:
The science behind bloating is very complex because it is very individual to the person so I've linked a good literature review if you wanted to read more about it. Bloating is such a normal part of our day to day lives and it's kind of sad that people think the way others look on instagram is how they look 24/7, which is totally not true. Thank you for being confident and genuine enough to share with others (especially young girls) that what we see on social medial isn't real life ALL the time. I'm rarely bloated but when I am, it's horrible. I don't care how it looks I care how it feels. My stomach feels like it's going to explode.

Thank you so much for making this! I always feel great about how I look in the morning, but as the day goes on I feel more and more negative about my body (it's hard to remember that it's just bloating!). It's great to see that someone who has an incredible physic experiences the exact same issue. It can be difficult for those with eating disordered or body dysmorphic pasts or presents to see fitness instagrammers/youtubers only showing their best selves, with the best lighting, etc.
Ava G hey Ava! It can be easy to forget that it's bloating I agree! And yes, we compare ourselves to girls with the best physiques in the world looking their best with the worst versions of ourselves so it's just not a fair comparison at all! I'm glad this helped a little though xxx

this is SO reassuring to see, I'm glad that you're embracing the bloat and not trying to ignore the fact that it's extremely normal and existent for most people. This is so important to normalize. I was spending time with my teenage cousin, and she kept shaming her body because she had bloated a bit after eating lunch. I had to keep reminding her that it's totally NORMAL for our bodies to fluctuate throughout the day! You just don't see bloated bodies reflected on Instagram / social media.
I totally agree! I used to be so insecure about bloating because I thought it was abnormal. I looked at girls online and thought it was normal to have a flat tummy 24/7. I started doing a bunch of workouts. It took me way too long to realise that bloating is NORMAL.

your gut flora might be the issue. try to eat probiotics for a while. it should help
Heal your gut microbiome and for me personally the more I lose weight the more my abs get developed and the less bloating I have (I do not eat a lot of salt, but you do need some salt don’t go too crazy haha)

I thought only tummy will bloat I didn't know even thighs and arms will , I always thought I got fatter if my thighs arms are bigger
+Presence Tse hey lovely 😊 it really depends on the individual but it is common after working out or putting the body through stress or over consumption of salts etc. I know it's only bloating because of the daily cycle of going back to normal in the morning but if doesn't go down for a long time then it could either be fat or muscle gain. But those take a lot longer to notice in appearance than bloating xxx

Wow this is amazing to see someone so fit be so real. I got diagnosed with PCOS and bloat really badly, it makes my tummy super sensitive to the weirdest of foods. Legitimately I will go from a fairly slim tummy to looking three months pregnant due to such severe bloating. I beat myself up so much and feel so bad because it makes me feel less than beautiful. But this video is wonderful thank you.

I don't have PCOS, but, I get really severe bloating. and, I've learned that putting a heating pad on my stomach really helps! along with dandelion tea, and, avoiding high fodmap foods.

Thank you for being brave enough to share with other impressionable young girls (and older women) how much your body fluctuates throughout the day after you've consumed liquids and meals. It's amazing how confidant a woman can be first thing in the morning after you've fasted for at least 6 - 8 hours or longer, but than once you start eating, your body changes throughout the remainder of the day, even if you've eaten healthy, well-balanced, whole-foods. And, it's ok! I struggle with body-image and I'm in the best shape of my entire life at 33 years old and am a mom to a beautiful 6 year old girl. I think negative body-image is something that all women experience, to some degree, from their youth until the bitter end :) #LifeGoals for me is to embrace the body I have regardless of the shape it's in...morning, noon or night!

I love how that you did this video and how nonchalantly you spoke of the retention. I deal with so much water retention, especially after my long runs. I have convinced myself that my legs are keeping the water around the damaged muscles to repair, but it still is tough on the brain sometimes because I just feel uncomfortable. I used to hate my body for doing that, but I have learned to be compassionate and applaud my body for taking great care of itself... even if my mind is out to get it. Nice video! Thank you!

I went to the gym today while really bloated and I couldn't finish my biking session because my gym leggings that fit perfectly 2 days earlier were digging into my waist and I felt so fat. I didn't understand it, bought leggings 3 sizes bigger that felt perfect.
It's 5 hours later, I'm still wearing those leggings and they feel kinda baggy.

Thank you for being to real and honest Natacha! My body gets bloated really easily, sometimes to the point where it hurts, but I can't seem to figure out why. And I get really self-critical about looking puffier, most of the time subconsciously, as I had a really bad past of body image problems. Although my state of mind is much better now, there are some days where I really just need someone to knock me out of my head and be more realistic. I love how informative your videos are about health, nutrition and our bodies in general, it really inspires me to appreciate myself more and treat myself more compassionately. I am just going to add to the chorus here: I am so glad I found you Natacha, you are such a gem. I got discouraged because I felt like I'm not making any progress when I look at my tummy at night. This is so so helpful! I've overcome an ed in the past and I struggle a lot with bloating nearly everyday on my thighs and stomach. I thought I was the only one but this is so good to know and really adjusted my mindset.

I’m someone who is recovering from anorexia and I find myself looking in the mirror multiple times throughout the day, feeling frustrated when my body has even slightly changed. It’s hard to remember that there are so many chemical processes happening in our bodies at all times that are necessary for them to function. This was a comforting reminder. Seeing someone dedicated to fitness having this same problem made me feel a lot less alone 💓

It makes me feel "fat" and because I'm currently in recovery from an eating disorder, my bloating has made the process far more difficult due to low self image. Thank you so much for this video. I started my fitness journey around 4 months ago and I've been suffering so much because I can't stand my bloated stomach. I started a diet to gain weight (I have always been skinny) and it has been a very hard experience because I started eating like 6 times more than before, of course my stomach would look bloated but to me I looked like a monster haha. It's reassuring to see it's normal even to a experienced person like you. One of my biggest struggles is noticing my body getting bigger (but healthier), this lifestyle definitely requires a lot of mental health as well.
