I started watching you dance online at the studio many years ago and to see you grow is inspirational! I love what you're doing and how you motivate others!
I truly love these workout videos. The only thing I don’t like is the language in some of the videos surrounding your body. Things like let’s get our summer body, or get the body you’ve been searching for are really really triggering for people, like myself, recovering from eating disorders and self hate. I would love if you guys could shift your language to celebrating the body as it is and celebrating moving your body and dancing your heart out! That’s why I like these videos! Not because they are helping me get fit or lose weight
@@GenieSweetness it’s not just about my personal triggers. It’s about the fact that teaching people that working out = getting your “summer body” perpetuates diet culture and harmful body narratives. Your body is beautiful as is! If you want to lose weight, that’s your choice! However, the sole purpose of working out isn’t to lose weight. And encouraging that is harmful. I’m not coming for Janelle here, I’m simply making a suggestion based on my experience. And in addition, nothing about my comment was rude or attacking. So you commenting back and insinuating that I need to go to therapy is unnecessary. I have a degree in counseling psychology and have been in therapy for years. Therapy is a wonderful tool. Therapy also teaches that constructive criticism is okay! Which is what I was providing.
@@jasminejailaful as I said to the comment below yours, that’s a major misconception about fitness! Not everyone is working out to “get in shape.” For many people, myself included, working out is something that helps my mental state, makes me feel better emotionally, and is a great routine! Pushing the narrative that working out = losing weight is harmful and untrue. In addition, saying things like “get that summer body” communicate that your body isn’t good enough now. All bodies are summer bodies & communicating that you have to get skinny in order to be beautiful is a major pillar of diet culture and really harmful body thinking that can lead to EDs and other harmful thought processes.

I understand where you’re coming from but it’s a workout video…it’s to help people get in shape and achieve their body goals…not a therapy session.
Your triggers are your responsibility. No one else’s. That’s something taught in therapy.
