That bloody scale!!! ANYTHING u do with it sounds nice! I wish I NEVER found out about it! I'm stuck and cannot break out of the HM box, no matter how hard I try. Nothing I can do. No matter how hard I try.
Thanks Gus! That’s a lick I will be practicing till it’s perfect! I love it! Could you please keep keep on teaching us some more harmonic minor licks, it’s sort of foreign to me, but all the players I like use it like you. Pedal licks too. I can’t seem to get the hang of it. Thanks Gus❤️
457 578, on the low E 578 on the A. Play that run in octaves and boom youll get the sound youre looking for. Thats an A harmonic minor scale. Every 4 notes is a diminished scale, that can really spice things up too.
The whole "down, up, down, up" thing is great but can be over stressed to a fault. Alternate picking is great until something else is momentarily more conducive or productive. Great lesson here !
Your pick attack is perfect. You grace the strings must enough to get the right attack. That takes waaaaay less effort than we beginners think. I really have to loosen up a lot and every time I do there's always that one split moment where I get it just right and it sounds perfect and looks good too in the mirror (hand barely moves). I hope I'll be able to internalize it soon.
I very rarely find time to play guitar now between work and my kids, but this lick has really made me wanna pick it up and give it a go. Your technique is flawless dude, definitely feeling inspired!
Best of both worlds. My alternate picking has always been better descending. And economy picking always wins out when it comes to sheer speed while ascending. Nice lick 👍🏼
If you are not intermediate or above best not try to learn neoclassical licks. Most pros can’t play them anyway as these are the fastest ones for guitar.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this lesson for us, please bring us some more licks to practice in order, one day, to be able to burn the fretboard like you do !
For the lack of better words to use... when you know your shit. Your not you're. Impressive memory and muscle memory. I know I made it sound simple but it is not. That was played super clean.
Very cool man. Thanks for sharing. I have the picking and all, just need to work on the speed, but that will come with time... what a cool lick. Thanks for sharing kind sjr!
Killer guitar Gus! It's about time someone spec'd out something fuggin killer in a guitar. Lots of krap is out there.....that guitar right there is something I've been thinking about for years now and have always wondered why nobody is offering it. Thanks for bringing something like that to market! A useful tool/weapon to shred on! LOVE the Candy Apple Red color choice!!!!
What especially do you like in that guitar? I like it too :) but are there some specifics that you're not finding elsewhere but where this guitar especially shines?
@@Vestu Yeah. Set neck construction. Will out sustain a bolt on guitar like you cannot imgaine. Mahogany wings. Strat body with humbuckers means no wimpy tones from single coil sized PUP's. 24 Frets = nice detail. Wheel adjusted truss rod at heel. 12" Radius. 2 Point floating trem (similar to a Fender Strat trem) and no locking nut. And Candy Apple Red...Leo's favorite color....I've been wanting a CAR Strat for a long time now. And matching painted headstock = real classy.....always denotes a more expensive guitar (when you're talking Fender Strats). I've been thinking about why nobody has done a custom Strat like this for a while....and then Gus G has this thing made! Smoking! I have a JB Player set neck Strat and the sustain is unreal. And I believe the wings (part of the neck THRU construction) are mahogany = Les Paul type of tones. Totally a hybrid guitar.....and it's about fuggin time! Many design "improvements" often are not improvements at all. It's good to see Gus making a sensible killer strat. I have no idea why this has not been done before. Bravo Gus! I will be lusting for one of these until I can afford to snag one!
100% respect to you Gus, you are a massively famous rockstar that has taken the time to teach us a video that is perfectly clear and absolutely awesome thankyou.
I've always economy picked. I've never been comfortable alternate picking across strings. Always found the movement to feel very strange. Not that I can play anything like this anyway.
Can you show us a few old school pentatonic licks? Like some Iron Maiden or Judas Priest type stuff ? Like those repetitive phrases they like to stick on for awhile in a solo that goes wicked fast for awhile I know they’re simple but I love those
Love Gus, what a player, and this is an observation not a criticism, but oddly that lick actually sounds better and somehow "more" neoclassical when played slowed down!
Nice. Subbed. What are your signal chain here, I like this solo sound. I love my rythm sound but when I solo there is too much gain? Please tell me some good hacks/tips. Thanx & bybye p.x.; do you use an overdrive to change from rythm to lead normally?
it would be wonderful if you teach how to change string smoothly in alternate picking in content of 2 notes per string and 3 notes per string respectively.
Alternate or Economy picking? I say both!
Awesome thanks Gus, 'cause you are the Shred King.
Your economy picking is god like! ❤️
Me too!!
Swybryd ;)
ευχαριστουμε πολυ κωστη!
There’s a LOT of yngwie in your playing love it!!!!
That vibrato at the end is KILLER!
Of course we want more! Thank you Gus
Jim Morrison plays Yngwie!!! The cool chart is about to explode!!!
The first part of the lick is straight from Yngwie's first instructional video. Killer Gus. You blow Zakk Wylde out of the water by leaps and bounds.
Awesome 🎸 lick! fabulous picking!!
Love the wall of guitar cases in the background
Can't beat a bit of classic Yngwie style like that.
That bloody scale!!! ANYTHING u do with it sounds nice! I wish I NEVER found out about it! I'm stuck and cannot break out of the HM box, no matter how hard I try. Nothing I can do. No matter how hard I try.
this is the first time i ever got to hear you !!!!! YOU'RE GREAT !!!!!!!!!!
I think you are a very best guitar player and and good teacher too . Thx Gus
What a lick !! & great lesson too .
Malmsteen 🤘🤘

CLEAN AS F***K !! hes got the perfect balance..!! Thank you Mr G!!

If you want to see more neoclassical licks I have two videos where I play other types of phrases.
Great little exercise! Thanks. Would love to see more stuff like this :)
Good contribution Gus, usually many players don't share and explain as good as you, so thank you very much.
I very rarely find time to play guitar now between work and my kids, but this lick has really made me wanna pick it up and give it a go. Your technique is flawless dude, definitely feeling inspired!
Dude same. I just had that exact thought, need to run out to the garage for a bit and start practicing
Thanks for breaking it down so well
Best of both worlds. My alternate picking has always been better descending. And economy picking always wins out when it comes to sheer speed while ascending. Nice lick 👍🏼
Awesome lick would make a great exercise🔥🔥🔥 I read where Malmsteen said he didn't use exercises but practiced classical runs instead. Awesome video's
Oh yeah very cool lick. Thanks for taking the time to break this down and explain it. Love your how to Videos.
You are Amazing Gus!!! 🤘🏼💪💪💪🇮🇹
All nonchalantly playing that first 👅 wow man that’s incredible
Cool lick! I could hear it for hours in repeat..in full speed of course!
"Here we go slowly"
*It's still pretty fast for non-intermediates*
I see you also took inspiration from that Yngwie REH tape XD
If you are not intermediate or above best not try to learn neoclassical licks. Most pros can’t play them anyway as these are the fastest ones for guitar.
@@argh6666 These are pretty simple enough tho? I don't think intermediates or above really need licks nowadays
Just go to settings and put the speed to 0.5....... it's slowly enough :)
@@argh6666 "neoclassical licks. Most pros can’t play them anyway as these are the fastest ones for guitar" thats the definition of WRONG! thx
Pro-tip, you can slow down the playback speed if you click on the gear icon at the bottom right of the video.
Great, Thanks Gus.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this lesson for us, please bring us some more licks to practice in order, one day, to be able to burn the fretboard like you do !
That neck pickup sounds 🔥
Hey Gus, great and helpful shred lick! Please do more of those videos! Cheers from Germany!
Awesome ando I love that reverse headstock of course 🤩
Another great video from a great guitar player!🔥 Keep going gus!🔥🤘🎸
Amazing stuff. Im so glad you started your own channel. Your segment on valley of fire was so soulful. Always a treat to hear from you

Bad ass thank you for sharing this video I want to learn it now thank you sir awesome guitar playing too by the way!!!
Look at all of his guitar cases behind him, LOL. Total guitar lover and great guitarist!
Killer lick and Guitar!
Awesome ! Gus , yeah more instructional lick videos showing both alternate and economy picking licks as well as arpeggios broken down would be cool 😎
both of you are my hero
Awesome lick!!!
Thanks for the cool lick and lesson Gus!
This is a great exercise. Thank you. 👌👍🤘

Awesome lesson, cheers.
YOU KILL ME ! GUS ! YOUR ARE GREAT ! 🤘😺
For the lack of better words to use... when you know your shit. Your not you're. Impressive memory and muscle memory. I know I made it sound simple but it is not. That was played super clean.
Sounds very Hellenic! OPA!
That is a cool lick! I like phrygian. I need to try this one. ( You play it effortlessly! ) Gus = guitar wizard!
very useful, thank you, keep the videos coming sir!
Great lesson.
Great video, thanks for sharing!
Killer! Happy belated birthday.
Nice job, thanks!
Tasty circular picking my friend 🤘
Awesome!
Man, reverse headstock Jackson/Charvels are 😈
Sounds amazing. I've never been able to do the economy picking without rushing the double downstrokes and messing the timing.
same here I miss the flow
Get baked and try again. Everything will be slower when you're baked so it'll give you more time to analyze you're technique LOL
@@chrisking6695 but weed is no good for a shreder because it slows you down. Cocaine does the trick tho
Thanx Gus 🤘
Really helpful!!! you should upload a cover of trilogy suite 5 that would be really killer🤘🤘
Χρόνια πολλά Κώστα!!!
Υπέροχο βίντεο!!
Love your guitar wish i could have one
Dude, you are a beast! Everyone knows it already, of course, but it just has to be said again. Thanks for the great lick! 🤘
Sick.
That was great Gus! Sounded just like him
Great Vid man.
The pros make it look so easy.
