now *this* is a review. All the info I didin't expect, but ended up getting. For a headset below $300 this headphone's headset seems AMAZING though. It blew my mind when I first heard it. Absolutely great voice chatting, communication between playing songs with the band, etc. Just super reliable from what I've seen.
I've had the MMX 300 for about 2 years. I completely agree that it's evolutionary and not revolutionary. I find the earpads pretty bad so got aftermarket pleather ones that are incredibly comfortable. The soundstage isn't huge because they're not open back but I find it very detailed and I love the sound of these through a USB headphone amplifier. I also find these sound wonderful for music or movies (probably better than gaming).
Hello mate, I know it has been 5 months since you have made this comment but I would love to know exactly what earpads you've gotten for your MMX 300. I am love mine but I am picky when it comes to comfort so I have them in the case because I cannot use them for more than 30 minutes without hating how they feel around my ears.
you probably dont care but if you guys are bored like me atm then you can stream pretty much all the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. I've been binge watching with my girlfriend for the last few weeks =)
Great review; thanks for sharing. That 10 kHz peak is a real surprise to me, from a company in the pro audio market, but I may end up going with these anyway. My use is almost 100% on a single laptop, so it's not a huge deal to set the EQ notch once. For audio production work, I can just keep using my trusty Sennheiser phones. :)
You can paper towel mod most of that spike out of there. Just cut a circle of paper towel and put it between the driver and the padding. I do this will all my Beyer headphones that have that treble spike. I'll be picking these up as I love the DT770 with the paper towel mod. Thanks for the informative review!
Excellent information. Thanks a lot. The microphone appears impressive for a headset; it really beat your HyperX here. I have the Beyerdynamic Lagoon wireless for music; they are excellent and tops the other brands in the $400 CAD or so price area. For video games, I think I'll have to stick with the Hyper X USB line. The audio is excellent for games, videos, and music; no 3.5mm cable fidgeting; very durable, and one third the price.
Fantastic mic when it switched to the hyper x for comparison I cringed lol. In my experience the best audio setups always cost money so I decided to get these and the Astro Pro Mixamp. Cant wait for this weekend :)
generally a treble heavier sound is preferred for games where imaging and spatial sound is important, because much of the audible cues we use to determine direction are higher pitched, such as steps, taps, drops, etc. Bass is more for the ambience and size of the room. at least in my experience. What would you say are the best cans for a console user?
I own these, as well as Sony‘s wireless headphones designed for the PS5. I plug these into the controller. The sound is significantly better. These work really well with my Console.
Sound Quality is WOW - I have had good headset before but the Beyer MMX 300 ani´t good They are GREAT - Clear and Crispy sound and together with my (old) GSX 1000 I can now hear new things in my games. Played for 9 hours today and I totally forgot I had them on In the last 20 years or so - The Beyerdynamic MMX 300 is the best gaming headset I ever have had and probably the best gaming headset you can buy at all.
@@driftwize ABSOLUTLY 100% - I have had over the years many other heatsets - Sennheiser 350SE/GameOne/GSP 600 and many more - The MMX 300 are the first that gives me the PRO headphone vibes - They are like a pair off DT 770 and paired with my GSX 100 they give a new dimension to my games - I have no knowlege of any hearsets that can get me better a sound But I wish that they one day will make them in 80/250 Ohms version so I can get a good excuse to go a buy me a headphone amp ;)
@@regnarlothbrok thanks for this reply bro! I had them arrive today with a GC7 Dac and they are insane, such a clear crisp sound as you said, even the bass is pretty good:D
I own the DT 770 pros, as well as these headphones. Surprisingly, these sound considerably better! The mid range is presented much nicer. It’s warmer, and a bit more impactful in the mid range. The bass and treble largely resemble the DT 770 pros. The treble does not bother me one bit. But, I am less sensitive to harsh treble than most listeners. The treble presentation is nice. The sensitivity is acceptable, but close to not loud enough. When I plugged it into my iPhone with the iphone DAC, it is far too quiet, I am a loud listener. Fortunately, when I use a USB DAC, or plugged into the controller for my PlayStation 5, the volume can reach good levels.
You have both headphones? Sorry if this is a random comment but you're the exact person I'm looking for. I have tried the DT770 pros at a friends place and I found them incredibly comfortable. I do want a mic tho so I am now looking at the MMX300 2nd gen. Are they the same build or are they differing in any way except the mic?
@ different headphone housing, but similiar. If you like the sound signature of the DT 770 pros, then you're going to be very happy. The mic is a bonus, I purchased a sound blaster external sound card that works with my PlayStation 5 as well as my PC, it makes for a good improvement.
@sproesser1 I can't really discern different sound signatures and stuff that well, I bought them more for the wearing comfort. If they look a bit different I don't care, but if they feel different that could be a problem. But yea the DT770 I tested sounded very good aswell
I’m using the mmx 300 with my ps5 and it really brought my experience to another level. BUT: without an external sound card their were way too quiet (for example: AirPods go way louder). So not usable for competitive shooters. I therefore also bought a sound blaster G6 and now I’m super happy with them. It’s not a cheap set up. G3 also works and is easier to use due to app remote, but G6 has more power and offers more settings.
I'm using mmx 300 with the soundblaster G3 and they are just not loud enough. Noticed you have not even mentioned this? Going to get a better dac/amp and hopefully makes them louder. Even though they are listed at 32ohm, think they want more power....
Fantastic review. Yeah, I was one of those people hoping you'd do this piece. The treble doesn't affect me at all and seems to give this headset just the right amount of clarity at the upper end, for me at least. Having said that, I ordered a set of the Dekoni pads (Zeos recommended) which I swapped out immediately, and all I have to say is I think this headset is excellent sound quality wise. I don't even bother EQing them; maybe the new pads help out here? I was surprised by the microphone test you did, all the reviews say it's meant to be great, best thing since sliced bread, but the actual comparison recording with the HyperX was an eye-opener. Looking forward to your Soundblaster G3 review.
thank you for the support and feedback! man, if the treble doesn't bother you without EQ.... you are right - these are great. I'm glad the mic comparison was helpful! Oh, no worries, I'll put the G3 through a proper testing. That's why these take awhile to get out. I want to make sure I'm certain about specifics prior to sharing an opinion. I owe you guys that. I appreciate you always sharing feedback on the reviews.
I also own these and run them off a soundblaster g6. Very impressed with the spatial and Soundstage for being closed back. Also very enjoyable musically. Great drivers. Would love to try the tygr though.
Hi Mate, digging your content as always, good to know you are doing well. In my opinion this is the best microphone in any headset, with that said, I found them to sound exactly as the DT 770 so I could not feel that I was not beeing ripped off. More to that last thought, thay are in the mark of the 450 USD in my country... Nevertheless if you have the money I don't think you would be dissapointed with them...
Thank you for this video on the in-depth test of this very particular headset. On the other hand, you advise lowering the treble to - 9 Khz, is it this? Because that seems like a lot to me. Sincerely.
I have the MMX300 gen2 and the soundblaster g3 as well. How high did you have the mic gain set on the g3? My mic is super quiet until I punch the gain almost to max, this creates a slight hum that I can hear. I have my headset cable pushed in as far as it will go and it clicks, i know that was an issue for most people from what I read
Please, the subtitles do not work and it is difficult for me to understand it, could someone give me a summary? or is this analysis on a website? I am thinking of buying these helmets exclusively to play on pc with an Asus Formula XII ... how are they?
Do you know if there are any earpads available that allow more sound into the headset? I've just bought a pair but being used to an open back headset I find the noise isolation makes it difficult for me to hear my own voice while playing games. I wondered if a set of less dense pads would help. Would try anything because I really love the comfort and sound quality of this headset! Any info very much appreciated
Good stuff. I was either going to get the hyperx cloud alpha and the hyperx solocast microphone both are around $140 total out the door and still some money left over for a new mouse or these headphones with no external mic. I'm leaning towards 3 new peripherals. As it's still cheaper than this headset. While I don't mind spending more money for a superior product I question durability and not only that there is also over engineering as it is a thing. Just to get 20% better audio quality but you have to spend an extra $100+ to me is not justify able. I like to have 1 headset and be done, unlike other people like z reviews who has 100 headsets. That too me is what merica consumerism is all about. Personally that's a huge waste of money. Hence why I constantly check products out for weeks and even months before I even jump the gun on a purchase.
I am your average enthusiast gamer and a casual audiophile. I have the original DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm model that i have been using for years and the MMX 300 V2. The two have a very similar sound profile, but are different in key areas. The DT 770 Pro is a bit more crisp and the base a little snappier. The MMX 300 V2 while offering a similar sound-stage gives me acute audio-situational awareness on an entirely different level. I thought i would get a better microphone for the money. But directional audio though, is worth it.
I have been shopping around for a music experience after using hyper x cloud 2's as my all rounder for years and the dt 770's plus adding on a mic has popped up, would you reccomend the mmx 300 v2's over that rout? (and yes know about nice ear cup upgrades for comfort and better sound)
@@coachmystogan They are a very similar pair of headphones in their audio signature, with the DT 770 Pro having a slight audio quality advantage. If you are ever gaming the MMX is the better option though.
How do they compare comfort wise? I know the 770pro are very comfortable for me, but I want the microphone. Am I getting a DT770 pro but with a microphone when I buy mmx300 2nd gens?
You mention the cheap feeling cable however these cables are replaceable which is great and don't forget these are made in Germany which is incredibly rare for the price point it's extremely difficult to make inexpensive domestic products so I'd Definitely forgive them for that
any idea if there are wireless headphones for pc ? I don't need the mic as I have a better table mic, but want to connect the headphones to a computer From what I've seen there are either wireless headphones for phones, or wireless gaming headsets for pc
decent mic? I think its fantastic , comparing it to the Razer siren x elite that costs 150 in some aspects is nearly better.... and i think u should try putting Dekoni Choice leather pads..and then u can hear the difference
I have these now ... I'm not a fan. I'm trying to replace my old Syberia 650s, can't find anything that overall sounds better. Sure, these MMX300s sounds cleaner, clearer. But soundstage and positional awareness, footsteps etc was never an issue. These MMX300's lack basically all the OOMPH the Syberia 650s provided - maybe it was reverb, I don't know. With the MMX300s I am "listening to a video game" and it sounds amazing. With the old Syberia 650s I was "actually in a Warzone" when explosions started going off, of when firing a heavy sounding gun. I could FEEL it, not just "hear it really well" So far I've tried the Razer Blackshark V2 Pros, SteelSeries Arctis Pro's + DAC, MMX300's and none of them give that OOMPH... I'm getting kind of desperate at this stage. Not sure if I should get an AMP/DAC (I shouldn't, because the MMX300s are only 32ohms, but some people say I should), should I keep looking for another headset, maybe with 50mm drivers to get that better sub-bass? At a total loss right now.
what pads are you using. if you subjectively want deeper bass extension - you can get some inexpensive pleather pads to stick on them and see if that fixes it for you.
Running these through a proper amp makes all the difference. Soundblaster G6 is good, but when I connect it to my THX this headset really improves big time.
Hi I bought the Hyper X Alpha and I could not get the software with the equalizer to download, for some reason this download had to come though Microsoft and I don;t have a Microsoft account. Do you know how I can get the software?
Specifically in the positional audio department, is the MMX 300 better than the Tygr 300R? Not looking for a price to performance comparison, just objectively speaking. I've got a budget of $300 and currently use the Sennheiser HD 6XX. I find the directional audio lacking but great for immersion and single player games. However I am looking for something of an edge in directional audio for competitive shooters.
I have both the MMX 300 and the TYGR 300 R here at home. Personally, I like the MMX 300 much better. In terms of sound, the two really don't compare and my preference is for the MMX. Especially with music, I hear big differences and can clearly experience more details with the MMX than with the TYGR. The bass is also much better with the MMX. In gaming, my opinion is rather neutral, I don't feel that the open-back TYGR gives much better localisation and both perform well here. Both are good products, I think it's more about personal taste, what you think sounds better.
Thank you for this detailed review I have a question if you don’t mind I’ve purchased this headset and waiting for it to arrive, but i’m kinda worried about imaging in-game, like fps games. Are these plug and play ready for fps games or as you mentioned we might need to change in eq settings a little bit to get clear imaging/direction in-game? Than you in advance
You are welcome! Thank you for checking out the video. They image very well - plug and play there. If you need to EQ anything, it will be the treble spike and that is only if you find them fatiguing (many do).
what would be the best "bang for your buck" headsets, with mic either attatched or attachable, you would/could recommend? i am asking since a friend of mine offered me his mmx 300 1st gen when he got shortly after release for 80-100€ and i am honestly not sure if i should buy them considering the age and no warrenty or if there are even better alternatives in a similar price range
the hyperx alpha s that I reviewed last summer is the best value in my opinion. good build, good mic, fantastic competitive imaging. other sets seem to compromise somewhere in there.
What is the best headphones for pro gaming like footsteps/gunshots n stuff in your opinion under $200 ? No attached mic required (unless the best has one.
That issue with your mobo is probably caused by bad chipset drivers. Not sure if you upgraded to the Ryzen 5000 on that board, but if you did, maybe consider updating them? Thanks for the review! This really sealed the deal for me as far as getting it, and I haven't heard another gaming focused headset with mic quality that good. I've been playing with the idea of getting a DAC for the headset, although I'm not sure if one is needed. Any thoughts on that?
Treble high is it good for gaming, especialy footstep....I am trying to make a choise buying a gaming headset of audio phile headset.....I have already has Steelseries game dac
I really like the reviews keep up the good work the channel will blow up soon, I have a question I own Sennheiser hd500 (open back) and Drop pc38x, I use my headphones for gaming mainly and I always game with friends that's why I always tried to get the best headphone I can that has a mic on it. Lately been thinking about getting the DT 1990 pro or 990 pro and maybe getting a mod mic wireless and any amp that can run the headphones, Is the upgrade to those Headphones from the ones I have worth it ? to go through the hassle of adding a separate mic and getting an amp and paying like $800 for the setup ? would really appreciate your take on this, cheers.
thank you very much for the support and feedback! First - yes, the upgrade from your current setup to a Tygr 300R would be pretty big and not that expensive. You could do the 1990 or 990 but make sure you can EQ the treble peaks. Second - you don't need $800 for good separates. Tygr 300R and it's mic together are like $300 (OOS right now I realize). Tygr 300R, a MOTU M2 (amzn.to/39WBXx0) and an inexpensive XLR mic for $500 or less.
@@gamingaudioguide9292 Thank you for the reply really appreciate it My bad I wrote HD wrong , I have the GSP 500 by Sennheiser , also I don't mind spending if I will feel the difference, Is there any advantage to the Tygr 300 over the 1990 and 990 ? and for me I cant stand a separate mic unless its attached to the headphone, so I think the best option for that is the mod mic wireless right ? Also you did recommend an audio interface instead of a Dac/amp unit to be honest I don't know what is the difference , I was gonna get a DAC/amp unit in the range of 150-200 USD. waiting for your recommendation given that I only care about gaming and competitive fps to be specific , cheers
@@gamingaudioguide9292 Also 1 more thing , I am buying inside the UK , Tygr300r is only available in a bundle which is the same price as the 1990 pro that's why I think Its not the ideal choice but , it doesn't require any amps which saves some money, Also the dt880 pro black edition is available for less than half the price of the Tygr300r bundle . Do these headphones have high pressure when wearing on ears? Can I fast release this headphones on desk without damaging thin films inside ear muffs? Thanks in advance!
they do have fairly high clamping force at first. it calms down a bit once the pads break in. you won't damage the drivers by quickly tossing them on your desk if that is what you mean. as long as you aren't violent with them lol
Top notch review as usual. Now things are clear for me, TYGR 300R is the way to go for gaming with Beyers, between the sharp treble, closed back and that 300 USD/Euro pricetag, I would pick a TYGR instead and buy a modmic. In Europe buying straight from Beyerdynamic the TYGR cost 140 euros (170 USD), that microphone in the MMX 300 Gen 2 is not worth the extra 130 USD/150Euros. Shame my European friends can't come to America and bring it to me as a favour due to all the COVID-19 migratory restrictions or I would already own a TYGR 300R. Well there's that Senn Drop PC38X but those drops take forever COVID-19 might as well be over by then and a german friend might as well bring a TYGR 300R when they come to visit me lol. Still I fear the PC 38X is over-hyped, only your review would clear things for good to me so to have an informed buying decision between TYGR 300R and PC38X, nevertheless both should be the best gaming headphones, yet are so hard to find!
Totally agree - had the MMX, PC38x and Tygr and have kept the Tygr only - got mine modded with a 3.5mm port also and picked up the Beyer Custom Mic - makes it pretty much the perfect headset for me now!
@@WhiteHartMart You modded them yourself or know somerherwhere can it done? Preferable someone that accepts international shipping since I am living in EU ;)
Nice work dude, I am your new subscriber! Just want to know which headset do you think is the best for wired gaming headset with mic between 100-400 dollars and also the same but wireless?
Not sure about PS5 but on xbox the atmos app allows for eqing. But.. that trebble spike... yikes. My only beyer can has been the dt1350 and the cables behind the ear cups were the first thing to fray. In not a fan of exposed wiring like that.
Got it yesterday, I’m not sure way I’m little disappointed in online gaming. However in everything else it’s amazing. In (PS5) warzone I’m not sure which in game presets EQ to use; tried boost, and boost high. It’s too sharp that what bugging me.
Did you record the mic test with the pop filter on? It sounds muffled to me. I wonder if the pop filter makes a difference because I assume that it'll sound better without it. I wish you included both versions in the video but other than that great work.
I didn't. I still could I suppose. I honestly don't think it will affect the sound much. I'll test it out this weekend. If there is a significant difference, I will post a short video example of it. Good feedback. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. Take care.
The FR graph shows how loud the driver plays across the spectrum. Since sound is so subjective, the best repsonse is very personal. A straight/flat line would be a perfectly analytical signal with the speakers playing all signals the at the same SPL (which many would consider very boring).
thank you ....i'm bummed out ...dang it.......... I just want a badass headphone wireless for mobile call of duty ........ thats all i play at the pro level and i cant find one.......any suggestions. i dont mind getting an EQ, DAQ or AMP i just want badass mobile and footsteps
Thank you for joining the channel. I appreciate the support. Please continue to share feedback so I can keep improving it for you guys. Does it have to be a headset (meaning mic attached)?
Depend on what Variant you will get.32 Ohm or 600 Ohm?customization ist Only available in Germany and Western europe.600 Ohm are godly.if you want to use virtual Surround Sound, get a soundblaster xg6(more powerful as the new GC7).if you want to use stereo only, get a Schiit Hel 2.you can use both in a direct mode to use Something Like Sonys tempest untouched.
thank you very much for the support! I use an Electrovoice RE320. I feel it pairs well with my voice. In this review I have it fed into a SPL Crimson 3 (upcoming review as well). I actually like it a bit better through the MOTU Ultralite mk4.
I've been checking the US Beyerdynamic website nearly every day for 3 months and the TYGR 300R's are always out of stock. I'm convinced they're discontinued or something. It's quite irritating as I really want those.
they are not discontinued. Here in Germany they were nearly 1-2 weeks out of stock and now they r in stock. But now delivery time changed from 3-4 days to 1 week. I think because of Zeo and DMS reviews, they getting more popular than MMX300.
@@UrAJok3r yeeeey Covid will be taken now as argument for anything ;) Maybe some parts coming from China, this could be concerning COVID and damaged supply chains. Hope you will be able to buy them in next weeks / month. Will receive mine in 2 days.
they do go in and out of stock. few showing up on used channels as well if you are willing. if you follow me on Twitter, I occasionally post deals like that when I see them.
I've been waiting for this kind of reviewer...BTW, could you recommend high-end headphones that are good for competitive FPS? I'm currently using the ADI 2 DAC, so EQing is no problem. The T1.2 seems to have been discontinued and I'm looking for an alternative.(The HD800s is currently unavailable in my region.) My budget is around 2400$(selling my whole audio setup) and can I get some suggestions?
The T1 has been replaced by the gen 3 (which I have not yet tested). The HD800S is fantastic if you can be patient. Otherwise, I really like the DT 1990 with either a passive filter or EQ to notch out the treble spike if you are sensitive to treble.
@@gamingaudioguide9292 What about the Denon D7200? It is known for being great for imaging....What are some headphones that images as well as the D7200? The He6se doesn't seem to be great for competitive.
@@alalal6665 You are right, the HE-6se is not that great for competitive gaming. The Ah-d7200 is amazing at imaging but has fit issues for a lot of people and really needs 3rd party pads to maximize its imaging ability. The 1990 with a passive filter, the original HD800 - they image about the same as the 7200. The HD800S is ever so slightly behind that group but its a very minor difference. Lots of headphones just below that group; Tygr 300R, DT 880, Elex, Shure 1840.... I'd have to go back to my review on the Eikon and check my notes. I can't recall if it's in this group or more comparable to the above.
I've used the DT990's 32ohm with a set of a BRAINWAVZ Round Sheepskin Leather Earpads through a Sennheiser GSX1000 combined with a modmic for years now. At the start the treble response would leave me jaded and with serious tinnitus before i understood that it was the headphones. Being a PC Gamer - found out how to utilize equalizer APO and EQ'd down to a manageable level where I'm really comfortable with them. I am now in the market for a new closed back gaming specific cans and I have been leaning heavily towards the 770's w/modmic or possibly these (for the convenience) but, considering the treble (I'm assuming) is the classic Beyer ZING - I am wondering if there are more appropriate and enjoyable set of cans I should be considering. I Absolutely love the build quality and comfort of the beyers and are wanting everything the 770 style of can provides but without the treble peak. Can you recommend a set of cans that offer similar style in sound signature & potentially comfort (not crucial) that might rival the MMX300/770 style but without the treble peak? Really appreciate your content! Found your channel through your recent "How to improve your Warzone Audio" thanks for the hard work.
I am not an audiophile. Is the Alpha S a better gaming headset out of the box than either of the Beyerdynamic’s? I’m not plugging it into a computer and tuning it and all this other wacky shit, I just want it to be a good headset for gaming. I’ve owned a cheap pair of HyperX’s previously and frankly thought they were better than my 300+ dollar steel series nova pro’s that everyone seemed to rave about online(spoiler alert they’re not that good).
thank you for the kind words and support! yup, exact same EQ recommendation. I actually put up a graphic of it in this video when I'm discussing it near the end. You can pause it and get the exact data points. Something like 8900k, -9db, q factor 2.0 - or something similar to that.
@@gamingaudioguide9292 Hey, thank you for the thorough review. I own the MMX300 and after your comment here I downloaded Equalizer APO and added my sound device. Now I'm not sure where exactly to enter the settings in the graph in the video (8487k, -9db, q factor 1.97). Do I need to add a "High shelter filter"? Because there I see 3 settings that correspond to the ones mentioned before (frequency, gain, q factor). However, for the frequency setting I can choose between "Center frequency" and "Corner frequency", which one is correct? I don't need to add other filters as only the "high" need correction, right? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm new to this but eager to learn =)
Someone should note that the headset has one fatal flaw: connecting the cable jack to the headset is an unimaginable nightmare. This may seem like a minor issue, but believe me it's such a pain in the ass that you couldn't even fathom it. And then the cable is disconnected every now and then. You will end up waisting hours fighting the damn thing. What the fuck! I strongly advice not to waste money on this torture device. (And it's not just me. I've read other customers report of the same issue.)
Now, if you have the same problem, here is some advice: force is not the key. The headset has a locking mechanism, which produces the problem. Just keep trying to insert and reinsert the cable jack by rotating the jack as you insert it.
it all depends on what "good" is to you. You just happen to not love lots of treble, so it's automatically "bad" to you. For me, I love lots of treble and don't mind some sharpness, so it would probably be "good" for me.
no worries! headphones are very subjective. I am actually a BIG fan of the 650/6XX, 800S and 560S (review coming soon). My issue with Sennheiser tends to be two fold; 1. their shape grabs behind my ear and above the jaw in exactly the wrong spot. 2. their imaging for competitive PVP tends to lag slightly behind (in regards to 650/6XX/580/5XX).
@@gamingaudioguide9292 It seems a lot of people don't like the shape and the clamping pressure. I admit I stretch a new pairs headband over my pc for a day or two. Yeah my pc is fatter than my head lol
Dont buy these, they are really bad ;) pros: - mic (I am not sure why other expensive headsets dont use mics like this one) - in games like cs go you can super easy hear where enemies are comming from (compared to hyper cloud 2) cons: - super uncomfortable - for music they sound just meh, I much prefer hyper x cloud 2 - super heavy - cables are really bad, had to push is so hard in to make sound comming out from both sides that I was worried I will break it. One of the included cables did not even work. I tried them both with directly pluging them into MOBO and with soundBlaster x3. Had to return them because they are just super uncomfortable. Tbh I would not even pay 100€ for these

you probably dont care but if you guys are bored like me atm then you can stream pretty much all the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. I've been binge watching with my girlfriend for the last few weeks =)
@Dante Hendrix definitely, I've been using Instaflixxer for months myself :D
@Dante Hendrix yup, have been watching on InstaFlixxer for since november myself :D
@Dante Hendrix Yup, I have been watching on instaflixxer for years myself :)
Wait seriously?

@@andyfma123Lol, don't believe everything these physicist audiophile god techs say online.
If you have a desktop i recommend getting a high quality soundcard, defo worth it with this headset.
thank you for checking out the video!
The hyper x mic sounded better tho lol
@@AndreasRP. how?
Great review thanks!
thanks for the review, glad you pointed out the treble spike. spared me a disapointment :)
generally a treble heavier sound is preferred for games where imaging and spatial sound is important, because much of the audible cues we use to determine direction are higher pitched, such as steps, taps, drops, etc. Bass is more for the ambience and size of the room. at least in my experience. What would you say are the best cans for a console user?
I own these, as well as Sony‘s wireless headphones designed for the PS5. I plug these into the controller. The sound is significantly better. These work really well with my Console.
@@sproesser1 bought a pair shortly after this (along with some moondrop dusks) and I concur, especially with my desktop amplifier they sound awesome.
Great review mate. Thank you for all the work you've done!

Sound Quality is WOW - I have had good headset before but the Beyer MMX 300 ani´t good They are GREAT - Clear and Crispy sound and together with my (old) GSX 1000 I can now hear new things in my games.
Played for 9 hours today and I totally forgot I had them on
In the last 20 years or so - The Beyerdynamic MMX 300 is the best gaming headset I ever have had and probably the best gaming headset you can buy at all.
Do you still think these are good at this time dude? Just ordered them in replace of my Astro A40
@@driftwize ABSOLUTLY 100% - I have had over the years many other heatsets - Sennheiser 350SE/GameOne/GSP 600 and many more - The MMX 300 are the first that gives me the PRO headphone vibes - They are like a pair off DT 770 and paired with my GSX 100 they give a new dimension to my games - I have no knowlege of any hearsets that can get me better a sound
But I wish that they one day will make them in 80/250 Ohms version so I can get a good excuse to go a buy me a headphone amp ;)
@@regnarlothbrok thanks for this reply bro! I had them arrive today with a GC7 Dac and they are insane, such a clear crisp sound as you said, even the bass is pretty good:D
Did you use a dedicated amp?
@@driftwize I currently have the Astro A50's. I'm looking to replace them, do you think the MMX 300 is a worthy upgrade?
@ the construction is different, but they're still a comfortable headphone. I would definitely recommend them. They feel somewhat similar on my head.
@@sproesser1 in what way are they different? I've ordered them now so I'll see soon enough, still curious on what I should expect
Do they have active mic monitoring? Can I hear my own voice through the speakers when the mic's on?
Absolutely great review. Glad I found this channel =)
Welcome aboard and thank you for the kind words!
Best headphone reviewer
thank you very much for the kind words and support!
Best gaming headphone reviewer hands down. Very rare to find someone rating headphones with competitive gaming background.
I'd agree +10, but with the gaming slant.
Nevertheless if you have the money I don't think you would be dissapointed with them...
good to hear from you. thanks for chiming in, it's been a bit!
Thank you for this video on the in-depth test of this very particular headset. On the other hand, you advise lowering the treble to - 9 Khz,
is it this?
Thank you for the positive feedback. I also appreciate you taking the time to comment with your thoughts. Take care.
I have the MMXes and i didnt even know there was a treble spike. Guess i'm not susceptible to it. Great headphones and great mic!
Any idea how the new MX150 would compare to this?
Does this mic pick up background noise (including other people's voice in the same room)?
Hello, this is a super rewarding video about this headset. On the other hand, what modifications do you recommend on an equalizer?
Am I getting a DT770 pro but with a microphone when I buy mmx300 2nd gens?
my mic not working when i connect to motherboard, can you help me?
It will work the mic of the headphones as well If connect to an iPad to have a Skype videoconference ?
Can anyone answer my question? Please ?
You mention the cheap feeling cable however these cables are replaceable which is great and don't forget these are made in Germany which is incredibly rare for the price point it's extremely difficult to make inexpensive domestic products so I'd Definitely forgive them for that
any idea if there are wireless headphones for pc ? I don't need the mic as I have a better table mic, but want to connect the headphones to a computer
From what I've seen there are either wireless headphones for phones, or wireless gaming headsets for pc
decent mic? I think its fantastic , comparing it to the Razer siren x elite that costs 150 in some aspects is nearly better.... and i think u should try putting Dekoni Choice leather pads..and then u can hear the difference
Beyerdynamic MMX 300 or Razer Blackshark V2?

@@gurugamer8632 MMX 300 - I have tried the Razer and the Audeze Penrose plus owend GSP 600 + GameOne - MMX 300 beats them all by miles
@@gurugamer8632 ANY over Razer audio... Razer is the worst audio you can get in headphones... not to mention build quality.
I could FEEL it, not just "hear it really well"
So far I've tried the Razer Blackshark V2 Pros, SteelSeries Arctis Pro's + DAC, MMX300's and none of them give that OOMPH...
"oomph" is like artificial studio beats? :) I bought leather pads for mmx300 and there definitely improvement for lows.
@@demitsuru awesome, thanks! Where they easy to obtain and swap?
What headset would you recommend for mobile gaming with a newer iPhone model?
Thank you for this detailed review
I have a question if you don’t mind
I’ve purchased this headset and waiting for it to arrive, but i’m kinda worried about imaging in-game, like fps games.
How did it work out @Keilinx ?
what would be the best "bang for your buck" headsets, with mic either attatched or attachable, you would/could recommend?
i am asking since a friend of mine offered me his mmx 300 1st gen when he got shortly after release for 80-100€ and i am honestly not sure if i should buy them considering the age and no warrenty or if there are even better alternatives in a similar price range
the hyperx alpha s that I reviewed last summer is the best value in my opinion. good build, good mic, fantastic competitive imaging. other sets seem to compromise somewhere in there.
When you tested the microphone you could hardley hear you. I am wondering why
What is the best headphones for pro gaming like footsteps/gunshots n stuff in your opinion under $200 ? No attached mic required (unless the best has one.
Sennheiser HD560S is a solid option.
So ... DT990s or MMX 300, purely based on sound?
They're the same
That issue with your mobo is probably caused by bad chipset drivers.
Any thoughts on that?
so how was it?
I’d like to hear your opinion on the Audeze Penrose.
I have not tried it yet. I tried to get Audeze to send me one and they haven't responded. I'll bring it in for review but it may be a bit.
Much worse mic, audio idk. But mic is 100% much worse.

Also you did recommend an audio interface instead of a Dac/amp unit to be honest I don't know what is the difference , I was gonna get a DAC/amp unit in the range of 150-200 USD. waiting for your recommendation given that I only care about gaming and competitive fps to be specific , cheers

What do you recommend for pads to lower the treble sharpness?
Do these headphones have high pressure when wearing on ears? Can I fast release this headphones on desk without damaging thin films inside ear muffs? Thanks in advance!
they do have fairly high clamping force at first. it calms down a bit once the pads break in. you won't damage the drivers by quickly tossing them on your desk if that is what you mean. as long as you aren't violent with them lol
@@gamingaudioguide9292 Thanks for answer!
Which is better for imaging x55 or this headset?

Not sure about PS5 but on xbox the atmos app allows for eqing. But.. that trebble spike... yikes. My only beyer can has been the dt1350 and the cables behind the ear cups were the first thing to fray. In not a fan of exposed wiring like that.

Take care.
Can you explain what I’m looking at on the chart? Is a straighter line better ?
The FR graph shows how loud the driver plays across the spectrum. Since sound is so subjective, the best repsonse is very personal. A straight/flat line would be a perfectly analytical signal with the speakers playing all signals the at the same SPL (which many would consider very boring).
thank you ....i'm bummed out ...dang it.......... I just want a badass headphone wireless for mobile call of duty ........ thats all i play at the pro level and i cant find one.......any suggestions. i dont mind getting an EQ, DAQ or AMP i just want badass mobile and footsteps

The T1 has been replaced by the gen 3 (which I have not yet tested). The HD800S is fantastic if you can be patient. Otherwise, I really like the DT 1990 with either a passive filter or EQ to notch out the treble spike if you are sensitive to treble.

all Beyerdynamics will have a slight perceived "break in" with the treble by 2-3db after the pads break in and bring the driver closer to your ear.
Fantastic review, thank you! Any recommendations on EQ - or would you make the exact same recommendations as for the 770 pros ?
thank you for the kind words and support!
yup, exact same EQ recommendation. I actually put up a graphic of it in this video when I'm discussing it near the end. You can pause it and get the exact data points. Something like 8900k, -9db, q factor 2.0 - or something similar to that.
@@gamingaudioguide9292 You're right, I missed the graph. Thanks again!
Will they play with PS5?
If you had to pick the top 3 Beyerdynamic headsets used for gaming, and put them in a rankad order. How would that Top3 list look like?
If you are talking headphones and not actually headsets (attached mic) AND I can assume you can EQ:
1. DT 1990
2. Tygr 300R
3. DT 880
@@gamingaudioguide9292
Yes. Interesting that mmx300 Gen2 does not belong to that list. Thanks.
@@andreas956 yeah, it would fall next with the next group. mmx300=770 Pro=990
wow my man invested in a green screen :)
or did u get an rtx card?
haha not yet. have one coming though!
I had zero issues with that. Just plugged it in, that’s it.
mmx 300 > any hyper x cloud set, dont get into it, i listened to all of them and mmx 300 is winning in every aspect w/o equalizer
are they loud?
Is it pronounced "Buyer Dynamic"?
im like...lets see if this is a good headphone? Oh beyerdynamic huge treble peak is here too, im outta here
it all depends on what "good" is to you. You just happen to not love lots of treble, so it's automatically "bad" to you. For me, I love lots of treble and don't mind some sharpness, so it would probably be "good" for me.
Just found your channel but you must be one of those beyer v profile fans. I'm a sennheiser neutral profile fan so be like oil and water lol
no worries! headphones are very subjective. I am actually a BIG fan of the 650/6XX, 800S and 560S (review coming soon).
My issue with Sennheiser tends to be two fold;
1. their shape grabs behind my ear and above the jaw in exactly the wrong spot.
2. their imaging for competitive PVP tends to lag slightly behind (in regards to 650/6XX/580/5XX).
@@gamingaudioguide9292 It seems a lot of people don't like the shape and the clamping pressure. I admit I stretch a new pairs headband over my pc for a day or two.
Yeah my pc is fatter than my head lol
how is the quality with discord
The 300 sounds muddy idk I think the 150 sounded better.
the non detachable mic makes this a hard pass for me..
buyer dynamic...
the mic sucks for that price
Dont buy these, they are really bad ;)
pros:
- mic (I am not sure why other expensive headsets dont use mics like this one)
- in games like cs go you can super easy hear where enemies are comming from (compared to hyper cloud 2)
cons:
- super uncomfortable
- for music they sound just meh, I much prefer hyper x cloud 2
- super heavy
- cables are really bad, had to push is so hard in to make sound comming out from both sides that I was worried I will break it. One of the included cables did not even work.
I tried them both with directly pluging them into MOBO and with soundBlaster x3.
Had to return them because they are just super uncomfortable.
Tbh I would not even pay 100€ for these
