I’m a bassist but I’m aspiring to get better at guitar drums keys and vocals and your channel helps inspire my own writing
The very first riff reminds me a lot of Dracul Gras - Periphery. About 2:50 into the song
Guitarist mainly here. I love making Djent/Metalcore music with hhppy Pop melodies and sensibilities :) Happy Djent lol
Gawwww DAYUM this riff is BEAUTIFUL. I'm a guitar fiddler who wants to do exactly what youre doing for a living. Good luck on your analytics! I bet they're POPPIN now.
Vocalist here 🎉
Great stuff man! Sick riffs! Love it.
Guitarist and backing singer here in a modern metal band.
Hi there! I mostly do vocals and divital arrangements but recently started to play a guitar and really liked to take a look at your brilliant work and workflow
My new favorite series of all time🤘🏼
Guitarist making similar music. Progressive metalcore, djent stuff. Love your videos and this series! Super helpful!
Honestly glad I'm not the only one that struggles with getting those perfect tight takes. Never knew about guitarists ego 😅😅😅
Great work, keep em coming. Cheers from STE
Banging riffs again 🔥
As per your UA-cam analytic request - I play guitar and sing, mostly write alt rock stuff these days, but I really want to get into making prog/djent stuff. 🙂
Texas based here. I mostly do vocals for my project but I compose as well. its symphonic metal with some djenty and prog stuff. love all your Thick Riff Thursdays so far.
Seeing someone actually dude the midi drums by hand like this, separating the cymbals and kick/snare..mind just opened up
Main instruments drum and guitar, things i make Classical, prog, digital fusion (funky chiptune), chiptune, and some jazzish.
Can't wait for you to continue somethin with justin now that he's out of school. THe LBR series was a joy to watch.
Been loving these thick riff Thursdays man! I’m mainly a guitarist but I do a bit of everything. Former producer/engineer here
Thank you Nick for always bringing joy to my thursday, love to see you doing what you love, always a big fan!
I’m a guitarist, I basically don’t make my own music but I’m here for the djent
I’m a guitarist and I’m getting into writing djent/modern metalcore, these videos are super helpful for inspiration
Glad you’re finding them helpful!
Absolutely love these videos, another reason to look forward to the end of the week! Watching you work though ideas is such instant inspiration to pick an instrument up or go work on a mix that has been sitting for waaay too long
Really enjoy your videos man. Love the longer videos personally. Also, im primarily a drummer/guitar player but play several instruments.
Been binging your vids since finding them. About the question you asked midway through, I’m a bassist but just trying to get some riffs down on guitar while writing
Guitarist who prefers to create somewhere between deathcore and djent style music. Newly trying to get into recording on my own and loving the content. Very informative and fun to watch and love your play style.
A few weeks back youtube threw one of your vids in my recommended list and I just thought "wow this dude knows his shit and has a really organized system". Anyhow you inspired me to start following your recording routine and making banger riffs and recording them. Really underrated channel that puts up high quality content. Keep it up my guy
Sorry for the late response on this, man! But thank you so much! I really appreciate the kind words and I love to hear that these videos have inspired you in your own process 🙏
Really enjoying this series and getting a peek at your approach! I'm mainly a pop punk/metal-ish guitarist and also do recording and production.
Ayyy, fun video from you again. I'm a guitarist / vocalist from Poland, dabbling in production. Your workflow is really inspiring as you lay ideas and tracks pretty effortlessly.
Started on bass, playing ska and pop punk. Also listen to and really appreciate the guitar playing on metal and hardcore. Found you via Insta but longer form here is so good. 🤘 From Scotland
That's super sick Nick! I learn so much watching your vids and I try to use it on my own riffs and comps, too. I just love how you reinforce your ideas in a complete mix! (My main instrument is the guitar)
Answering your question: Im mainly a vocalist but I do some guitars too, envious of your skills hahah
My primary instrument is my voice. In two choirs for school. Next is guitar. I like the piano to but I just dabble in it. Percussion is fun sometimes.
May you find your way of completing full songs! I’m in the same boat and can often feel like I’m not a “real” “musician”. Cheers.
Awesome and helpful video man! I'm a bassist and guitarist with some drumming experience, and I want to write prog metal. Your videos and your music are a huge inspiration to me, you always capture the vibe of your riffs so well!
Was there a part two to this one? I was looking forward to the next episode finishing this one 😂
Loving these thick riff thursdays. Really liking this riff salad to full song workflow! To answer your question from the video, I'm primarily a guitar player but I also play violin and bass and I kinda sorta do vocals as well. My main thing is folk metal, but I'm really all over the place stylistically.
Drummer here! Love the content.
Thiiiiiiiiickneeeeeeeeess daaaaaay
You should run a contest where listeners write and record vocals over your less instrumental tracks. Would be amazing!
It's giving Spiritbox
Male / 30 / Guitarist mostly (20+ years) but I play a bit of everything / Heavy Alt Rock mostly, but I dabble in a number of genres. Have always had a massive love for Djent/Metal, just can't play it for shit. Subbed a few weeks ago, loving Thick Riff Thursdays!
Mainly a guitarist for like worship music, but also a vocalist. Working on an indie soft rock Christian project but also a modern alt metalcore thing
Still working on getting harsh vocals though, so it might be a while
aspiring guitarist and singer here! I really like prog, djent, midwest emo and lately been obsessed with the kind of hyperpop that Brakence makes :P
I'm a guitarist & I like to make music similar to yours but I'm also a big fan of making "simpler" deathcore, lots of breakdowns etc. I also make plenty of acoustic stuff as well. Love the vids man!
Ooo my this riff rowwwks
I'm a guitarist/drummer. I've been primarily been playing guitar for a couple of years.
I've been working on the thumping technique that tosin abasi uses. I have a strandberg 8 string Rich Henshall edition.
Dude just discovered your channel and been binging it a bit lmao. My main instrument is the guitar but I do have a few projects where I am the vocalist, and what you said about "the energy take" is so true. Anyway love the vids dude, I've always wanted to see some producer content kinda like Andrew Huang's but to this style of music, and you nail it perfectly ❤
Bass player here, playing metal in a very static x style currently, but i have also played some reggae in the past.
I love this riff. I would love to learn to play more riffs like this. What songs would be a good place to start learning how to play riffs like this? These djenty, bouncy, poppy, slidey riffs.
Wage war is a good band to start, lots of fun riffs like this
Prog guitarist here - of course. 😂😂🤘🤘
Im a guitarist! And I’ve been learning to produce my own stuff for about 1.5 years now. I’m from holland and I make metal! Mostly Thrash, Glam, core and prog (yea weird combo, still figuring it out)
Skin flutist from upstate New York here!
Just came across your channel today. UA-cam has been on a hot steak lately, so I feel like I might actually get something done. I primarily play guitar. I enjoy messing around with vocals but its just something I do more for fun. Bass pretty swanky as well, but also for fun. Me and a buddy play mostly heavier stuff. I also like to mess around with ambient every once in a while.
I play Guitar and thinking about picking up a bass to learn.
I definitely want to eventually sing and play keys & drums too but I'm not in a rush. Focusing on guitar first, learning riffs like Holy Wars and You only live once.
Main instrument is guitar and I do backing vocals (screaming and singing) in a metalcore band.
I'm form Spain and I play guitar and sing/scream in a metallic hardcore band (Tear Me Apart), in a screamo band (Insire Nome) and I also have a metalcore solo project (meloxdeath).
4:16 my life hahahahah
i’m a bassist for an indie pop/ synth pop band but the drummer and i are the only ones who listen to heavy music haha
I would love it if he would update WT Brawn Bespoke to Reaper 7. Still my favorite of all the Reaper themes.
guitar is my primary and I do progressive breakcore
i cant stop playing totk
edit: oh and cool riff btw
Great video dude! Could hear some p5 influence on that riff, don't know if that was intentional or not haha, looking forward to the next episode!
Dracul gras.. but it’s nick’s version😂🤌 loved it man
Main instrument is guitar! I play in a blackened deathcore band call Of the betrayer
Guitar, mainly pop 😂
Main instrument is guitar. I play in an alt rock band called Pinehill
Mostly piano these days, but I do have my Tele and Bass VI within reach at all times
i make a bunch of different types of music, but perhaps most relevant to this channel, i am a drummer and I used to play in a djent band. aside from my rapping, most music I make is very heavily influenced by post rock and post metal. the djent band i played in and started (crevassian) was very heavily inspired by uneven structure, miroist and cloudkicker. my goal was to make the most posty djent possible. recently, i've started a post rock band, but also, your riffs have inspired me to write metal (entirely virtually, for now) again.
Yooo I love miroist, happy to see another fan haha. I’m a big post rock fan, do you post your music anywhere?
My primary instrument is vocals and i mostly write indie rock
Ya boi started as a guitarist but now I'm a drummer I played alot of early 2000s rock and pop punk now I'm playing alot of early jazz mainly miles davis
Bass is my primary. I write mostly hard/alt rock stuff.
Dope as usual! I’m a media composer and guitar is my primary instrument. I’m good enough to play on most of my productions if necessary.
Primarily vocalist but I also play guitar. I do vocals and guitar in an emo/pop punk/post hardcore band but I do vocals for everything from pop to musical theater to deathcore to emo and everything in between.
hi nick, im learning a lot from you, wondering what kind of mac are you into ...
I’m mainly a bassist but I play mostly everything. I write post-rock/ trying to do metalcore lol
It's been almost a year, Nick. Where's step 2? 😭
primary: guitar, music: metal/hardcore
My main instrument is Guitar, but I am also a songwriter as well. Would love to sing but thruthfully I’m no good at it 💀
this sounds like that one part of Dracul Gras
I’m a guitarist by default but I do everything in my current “band” cause it’s just me. Program drums, play bass, sing, mix. My music is, I dunno, emo / post hardcore by way of pop punk I guess.
Bro where’d you go :( missed you two weeks now
I'm a drummer that enjoys playing djent, math rock, and prog.
I love TRT 😊
Guitarist and screamer, my dude, playing some post and melodic hardcore.
Guitar, my metal, uk hardcore, deathcore
I play drop-tuned upright bass in a death-jazz-core band
You know what, hell yeah
What amp sims are you using I've been on a bindge of your stuff
I play guitar/drums, and i sing, and my main genre is djent/metalcore.
Im a bass player/producer from australia who wants to get into metal/djent production!
I'm a drummer learning guitar and I don't make stuff yet but I wanna do acoustic/soft pop music (joji-esqe) and hard djenty metal songs (plini/jason richardson)
This sounds like the bridge/outro of dracul gras by periphery
That first version of the riff from months ago
guitarist, but i play bass and scream in a metalcore band. i also play the trombone. (not in a metalcore band)
I play djent Spitfire libraries
I’m mainly a guitarrist. Playing on a brazilian band called “Versch". We released a new song called “Não Dá Mais” recently, if you want to check it out :)
I do Instrumental guitar driven music. I also have some Kiesels. My music's kind of like yours except not nearly as good lol
So I mainly play guitar. And I mainly make metal. I have 2 (serious) songs on my channel if you're curious
I hear Talus battle theme, I upvote.
Also - primary: guitar, style: prog metal
i am guitar i make brr brr deng
Vocals and guitar are my main stuff! I play a lotta proggy metalcore and symphonic stuff. Im happy to be in the minority of vocalists watching you haha
My band is called Hornet, and we have one single out called Seven Seals. Feel free to check us out!
Singer and guitar for a metal core band
I play acoustic guitar, bass, and I sing.
Bro is there any way I can get your Logic Template?
