Quiz question. That little arm holds the dropper pin up so one man can back up to trailer, the towing eye nudges the arm & releases the dropper pin. Pin has large handle that locks in groove in top pf clevis.
Non farmer but I know concrete is heavy. Go easy with first load. Others have mentioned floor dump hatch, I would say essential. Forget side auger, would be nightmare to keep clean. Good luck 👍
If your cleaning the Kennan out , best way I've found cleaning a pan mixer is to do another mix but just use sand gravel and water without cement , even if a small amount remains it will be diluted so it won't be a problem
Great video as always Olly. Liking the new concrete mixer idea. Answer to quiz question is latch to drop drawer pin in automatically when backing up to an implement.
I've been working on Concrete pumps and trucks for 30+ years and if you are going to use that for concrete you need to put a small door on the bottom to wash it out because after 1 or 2 times you will have concrete stuck in it. Look up CONCRETE PUMP HOPPER'S and you will see the door for cleaning it out you can make one for it very easily
I was thinking a bale of wet straw might clean it out, just put it in slowly, a couple of layers at a time. I could be wrong, just a thought. I honestly didn't think Olly would do that to a feeder. 😂😂😂
Wouldn't want anymore than 5 ton of concrete mix in it or you could risk having a mixer full of unmixed product with no way of emptying it. If shearbolt breaks whilst mixing your chances are slim of getting it to turn again even with a non protected shaft
Just thinking out loud it might be no harm if u put up a sign in the yard with help lines on it near your scales as you have so many going and coming all day great video today again
When Border Plant delivered out Malone post knocker they had a couple of 3pt pan cement mixers that were on their way to a couple of farms limited on space and with just a small flock or herd that were being used as TMR feeders. If it can work one way it should work the other way well enough though I think filling it up as full as feed would likely push beyond the limits 😉 though it would be tempting to try
Delivered concrete volumetric or drum is getting really expensive! Great idea to get your job done! Guessing the xerion to hold pin up while hitching up? 👍👍 when you growing a mullet northwest ambulance! Id definitely donate £20 an inch! 😂
For the combine put a bale of chopped straw though it a few times and see if that helps before you pressure wash my dad used to hate cleaning combine out after maize
Its a draw bar pin handle keeper. Puts pressure on the handle to hold the dring solid. Once you get a wet mix in the mixer it could go pear shaped as it will be more sloppy so not fall into auger but flow over bars and stay in drum. Could need a fair bit of adapting.
Hello olly we use a Keenan diet feeder but the bigger one to that have done for many years and we can get parts easily cause they only at stoneleigh park Warwickshire you have been there we have got chopping knives inside ours 👍👍
I kept a keenan for this purpose, barrel needs patching first. My main concern was how much concrete would be left below the auger. The flights must be quite worn. Did you just dilute until its just gravel remaining?
We had a. Keenan just like that but I must say we never mixed concrete with it you’ll have to be meticulous at cleaning it out but must admit it was doing alright The quiz question is that it is a draw bar pin holder feeling 95% today Olly great video you really do like trying new ideas every credit to you but I do think a pan mixer would be better another fantastic video Olly keep them coming
I thought it was April fools day when I heard what you were thinking of doing with the mixer ,it might Empty itself when new ,but definitely won't when well used 😂
Hiya, could have saved you a run to Stoke, have recently scraped 2 tidier Keenans! Some paddle rubbers will help clean out better. Any other Keenan parts off the shelf give us a shout. And when you are ready to reline it we can roll sheets.
Think it might kill the Keenan. Be very careful if you have to go in to clean it and chip out with a Kango. Treat as a confined space and lock out the paddles from rotating
Once you have emptied the concrete out of the mixer give it a quick wash and then tip in a bucket of stone on its own leave it running for a while then either leave it in or auger it out, that should clean it pretty well.
If the Keenan mixes the concrete anything like it does our TMR you won’t have to worry about making any mistakes with the levels as you’ll be relaying it in a few years.
Keenan won’t mix concrete. At least not for very long unfortunately. I repair plenty of them and silage kills them with 1/2 the weight you could get in that.
Mixed hundreds of cubes of concrete in a Keenan, scrap the side auger, it’s the weak point, and takes an age to clean, weld door shut. Keep rubbers in good order on padals, ours had a bottom hatch that my boss made to dump on to floor, probs don’t be going much over the weight you mentioned else you will start eating chains and shear bolts.
@@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmeryes very bottom at back with a long handle, then could ease forward to get away from concrete, I will try find some pics but it’s a loooong time ago. You’ll not be beat with a simple job like that 👍
As a kennan user i would think you might want a PTO shaft with a hevey sherpin for mixing concrete. Is that for holding pins on the drawber . Feeling about 75% today
Just a heads up somebody sitting on a disabled toilet needs to be able to wash their hands sitting down on the toilet so your wash hand basin is too far away
if was you i would get it relined cuz sand will rip it apart cuz it will already be very thing on the walls as they tend to get run until there falling apart
Fab idea with the Keenan 👍👍 great vlog as always. I think that part on the xerion is to hold the pin in place when traveling🤔🤔🤔 how are you today Olly % wise? I'm 70% today 😊
If nothing else Olly at least you have another spare auger to add to all the others!! Ha ha. 😂 There’s nothing wrong in keep trying new ideas - makes for a very entertaining blog - good on you!! How much does Morgan’s mullet weigh? 🤣🤭👍
How many hats do you have? Bet Ian loves it when you mess up his stock control. Not sure how long that Keenan will last mixing concrete but it's going to be fun to find out.
Tom Pemberton is having a heart attack just now at the use of the Keenan
I'm sure that on Tom pemberton Keenan there are rubber flaps on the mixer paddles but great idea Olly. 90% today
Tom is probably thinking about how much money he could have saved over tge last year if he had used his Keenan to mix concrete.
Whehay🎉🎉
Why am I jumping up and down with excitement 😂😂
Sorry @Tom-Pemberton
Quiz question. That little arm holds the dropper pin up so one man can back up to trailer, the towing eye nudges the arm & releases the dropper pin. Pin has large handle that locks in groove in top pf clevis.
A new bussines venture there olly .........mobile concrete mixing
The dad joke involving the flat tyre/track with noises, was outstanding!! 😂😂
Handy for filling a trench when laying tike.
I would definitely put some kind of trap door at the bottom of the Kennan to clean out. Last thing you want is concrete setting I. The bottom of it.
Non farmer but I know concrete is heavy. Go easy with first load. Others have mentioned floor dump hatch, I would say essential.
Forget side auger, would be nightmare to keep clean.
Good luck 👍
You can wash it out with Tom Pembertons tears after seeing a Keenan used to mix concrete.
17:02 great content
Loving the Mullet Mixer
If your cleaning the Kennan out , best way I've found cleaning a pan mixer is to do another mix but just use sand gravel and water without cement , even if a small amount remains it will be diluted so it won't be a problem
I said that
Hi how much do you save by making your own concert compaird with remedy mix ?
So now we know what's the project is after the David Brown. A new bottom in a Keenan mixer/ feeder😮 thank you Olly this as always cherred me up..#70%
Great video as always Olly. Liking the new concrete mixer idea. Answer to quiz question is latch to drop drawer pin in automatically when backing up to an implement.
Olly , i would expect a call from Keenans tomorrow regarding their new R&D department lol
80% Olly...watch the bottom skin on the keenan..especially that model...it wears thin very quickly...spray bar is an ace idea...

Great video Olly what a great use of a old Keenan
That will do a good job as long as you don't over load it.
Great video Olly a vertical diet feeder would of been better for mixing concrete and very easy to wash out as well 👏👏👍👍
Defo discharge out the back and have a door on bottom fine ow for washing out. Great idea though ! !
Great stuff olly always thinking ahead fair play
Wouldn't want anymore than 5 ton of concrete mix in it or you could risk having a mixer full of unmixed product with no way of emptying it. If shearbolt breaks whilst mixing your chances are slim of getting it to turn again even with a non protected shaft
There should be a sluice gate underneath for washing out, farm next door uses the old Keenan for the same job
Just thinking out loud it might be no harm if u put up a sign in the yard with help lines on it near your scales as you have so many going and coming all day great video today again

great stuff
Same here just add some sand gravel that keep it dryer last bit concrete won't go off
Very clever idea Mr Ollie
Delivered concrete volumetric or drum is getting really expensive! Great idea to get your job done! Guessing the xerion to hold pin up while hitching up? 👍👍 when you growing a mullet northwest ambulance! Id definitely donate £20 an inch! 😂
115%, 2 yellow cars and a yellow lorry red lorry!
These games are fun if you're up and down the same roads a lot or on long road trips.
Looking forward to seeing how you get on with the Keenan with mixing concrete
I can see you are well chuffed with the Keenan!! 🎉😂
Great use of an old feed mixer
I am going to lama on Wednesday but we're driving the 're on the Tuesday night
For the combine put a bale of chopped straw though it a few times and see if that helps before you pressure wash my dad used to hate cleaning combine out after maize
Soaked in diesel
Olly when you said look at that beast where you referring to the 936 or Morgan 😂
hope the bearings on the kennan are well sealed, gritty water will be very abrasive, the bearings might not last long.
Can you fix sweeper bars onto the paddles to push the last part of the mix out of the keenan?
Love your ideas for different machines!❤
Its a draw bar pin handle keeper. Puts pressure on the handle to hold the dring solid.
Once you get a wet mix in the mixer it could go pear shaped as it will be more sloppy so not fall into auger but flow over bars and stay in drum.
Could need a fair bit of adapting.
90% today Ollie. Happy New Year to you all. 🥳😎
Hello olly we use a Keenan diet feeder but the bigger one to that have done for many years and we can get parts easily cause they only at stoneleigh park Warwickshire you have been there we have got chopping knives inside ours 👍👍
Thinking open the back grid mesh and just discharge from there and to wash it out or make a small chute on the back like a chaser bin
Soak the inside with shutter oil works a treat on my digger buckets
We mixed tonnes of concrete with one of these feeders in between feeding the cows! And you would be better with a door on the bottom to empty it.
It's to drop the pin automatically when you reverse on to an implement. Great videos my son and I will try and come and say hello again at lamma
I kept a keenan for this purpose, barrel needs patching first. My main concern was how much concrete would be left below the auger. The flights must be quite worn. Did you just dilute until its just gravel remaining?

Great idea keep an eye on the bottom as the Skin Wears was the biggest issue on those early models
I thought it was April fools day when I heard what you were thinking of doing with the mixer ,it might Empty itself when new ,but definitely won't when well used 😂
look at the back right hand corner the date stamped into metal of the Kennan
Hiya, could have saved you a run to Stoke, have recently scraped 2 tidier Keenans!
Some paddle rubbers will help clean out better. Any other Keenan parts off the shelf give us a shout.
And when you are ready to reline it we can roll sheets.
Yay where u from then
Great video olly that-will be some job I’m 95% today
Keenan ~ I thought for a moment you had bought some cattle 😂
Think it might kill the Keenan. Be very careful if you have to go in to clean it and chip out with a Kango. Treat as a confined space and lock out the paddles from rotating
🤣 you're ready for cattle now! Good idea tho, should work fine
Good idea for the Kennan mixer, I would just use some gravel & sand to clean it out . 90% Today
None of the bearings and seals will be ready for concrete. Wouldn't surprise me if it falls apart with the weight.
Good look though!
Hi olly Big boy and his toys
Coincidently just seen a FB video showing a Jon Deere hitch with the automatic pin drop when the trailer drawbar hits the release clip
I was always told not open the keenan door when the pto is running as the paddle might flick it up and buckle it
Once you have emptied the concrete out of the mixer give it a quick wash and then tip in a bucket of stone on its own leave it running for a while then either leave it in or auger it out, that should clean it pretty well.
Generally cheaper to buy readymix than the ingredients to mix your own.
🇨🇦
Who ate all the pies 🤣🤣
PS I can’t do the quiz question because I watched this after the next days vid so I’d be cheating
I think you will ware that out in no time. Sand and gravel far more abrasive than silage or other cattle feeds
If the Keenan mixes the concrete anything like it does our TMR you won’t have to worry about making any mistakes with the levels as you’ll be relaying it in a few years.
Good video 👍 90% a feed mixer to a concrete mixer. A release pin .
Keenan won’t mix concrete. At least not for very long unfortunately. I repair plenty of them and silage kills them with 1/2 the weight you could get in that.

Thanks did u put it in very bottom ?
You got any pics ?
You on insta ?
@@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmeryes very bottom at back with a long handle, then could ease forward to get away from concrete, I will try find some pics but it’s a loooong time ago. You’ll not be beat with a simple job like that 👍
well that will be the price of secondhand mixer wagons doubled up and down the country 😂
I thought washing out a pan mixer was a big enough faff!!
Just add a washout door in the bottom of the mixer
Interesting to see how the Keenan will work. One word of warning, don’t mix concrete in hot weather in that thing, it’ll cure in the hopper.
To hold the pin handle in place, good idea with the Keenan mixer. #96%
As a kennan user i would think you might want a PTO shaft with a hevey sherpin for mixing concrete. Is that for holding pins on the drawber . Feeling about 75% today
It looks like a marker light is missing from the rear conbine
Quiz answer. Auto drop for the drawbar pin.
Looks like that Keenan will make a good mixer.
Drops the pin in when the eye hits it
Flat track 😂 Did you have the air line in your other hand 😆
Boom
Stick it in 1000 and it’ll empty miles better normally so that when you get to the end of the ration to empty it completely
Charlotte A will be pised with the keenan being used for that lol
its ok its only flat on top
Auto pin drop, drawbar tongue hits it and lets the pin drop
Just a heads up somebody sitting on a disabled toilet needs to be able to wash their hands sitting down on the toilet so your wash hand basin is too far away
Thought id got Joe Seels channel when the feeder mixer was on. Is a straw chopper next? Lol
Great idea though.
Funny u say that
if was you i would get it relined cuz sand will rip it apart cuz it will already be very thing on the walls as they tend to get run until there falling apart
Fab idea with the Keenan 👍👍 great vlog as always. I think that part on the xerion is to hold the pin in place when traveling🤔🤔🤔 how are you today Olly % wise? I'm 70% today 😊

How many P.S.I. pressure do you normally run in the combine tracks?
You should have just borrowed Tom”s new Keenan, we wouldn’t have minded at all 😂 70%
What happened to the cement mixer body you had, would have been the BUSINESS.
Sold it
75% feeling a lot better! Quiz Question: Is it to apply the breaks if the trailer comes off? Andy x
How many hats do you have? Bet Ian loves it when you mess up his stock control. Not sure how long that Keenan will last mixing concrete but it's going to be fun to find out.
Spring loaded pin for automatic coupling
Can’t see that mixer wagon emptying completely with concrete in it.
70% rained off this morning so try again tomorrow! Is it so you know you are far enough onto the trailer to drop the pin in?
Release the drawbar pin when you’ve backed up to a trailer
Drawbar hitch I'd say
