Iwo Jima Part 1 (The Bombardment)

- The opening to the invasion of Iwo Jima had to be a sight. In this short video made with Blender, After Effects, and Adobe Premiere I show what i've always wanted to see. Battleships, Destroyers, Cruisers and other ships destroying the island with their opening salvos. I hope you enjoy watching this as much as I have enjoyed recreating one of my favorite word war 2 moments. more to come in a part 2.

This one battle is what my Great Uncles never spoke of. They were both there, Jack with the Marines and Bill with the Navy supporting the assault. I remember them both skipping all of the details and wanting to talk about their service in Occupied Japan helping to rebuild that nation
The radio chatter is the best part!
The roundels on the Navy floatplanes are pre-war/early wartime roundels. In 1945 those roundels had long been replaced by the star-and-bar combination. However, the Corsairs are properly marked.
hahaha so my first kingfisher was a model that I built and it had the star and bar. but it was garbage...and I knew it....then I found one that was better...unfortunately had the wrong markings but hey.....cant win em all. thanks for watching!
Don't nitpick please 🙏
*My Dad was there and in Okinawa and Saipan firing the Navy's "secret weapon", the LCI-R rocket firing ships*
“Nothing can survive that.” Oh , but they can…
HACKSAW RIDGE
@@philgiglio7922 That was on Okinawa.
They said the same for Tarawa, the Marianas, and Peleliu, and look what happened.
Famous last words of many of Marines and GIs “No one survived that!”.
Awesome, especially liked the use of the scout planes launching off of the battle ship’s !
AWESOME !!! Waitin ' for more...
That was pretty dope. My grandparents were crazy with the shells.
Nicely done. We can only imagine.
Thanks buddy! stay tuned there will be more from Iwo.
THAT WAS AWESOME!!! I turned my speakers up to MAX to get a better "feel" for the sound of those guns. Thanks!
hahaha thanks alot. hard to find proper sfx for 16 inch guns. stay tuned for some more!
This is amazing and while some have commented a few discrepancies its still quite good. Good enough to show a classroom, I'd reckon.
Lets get some juicy surface engagement animations!!
workin on day as we speak. thanks for watching
Great work. Keep it coming.
you betcha thanks for watching
Wow, so good ! Thanks !

l could play this on a loop, all day

Simply excellent graphics guys. My congratulations.
thanks so much! stay tuned for more
Awesome video creation skills.
thanks for the kind words!
This is sickkkk
Edit: i hate saying this, but i did the research and uhm. There weren't any south dakota/north carolina class battleships that took part in iwo jima😭
Thanks! more to come so stay tuned!
Good answer.@@jmort2732
If only the military back then had the weaponry we have now Iwo Jima would be sentenced to become Atlantis
US Navy: Nothing can survive that
Japanese Army: Observe
6:04 - unique aft turrets arrangement for Allied WWII ship. The look of turrets indicates a battleship, but what class?
That’s from the wows I think it’s a mock up or suppose uss Texas
@@klipsfilmsmelbourne USS Texas had a tripod mast between 2nd and 3rd turret.
@@konmaj second tripod is at the ships stern
@@klipsfilmsmelbourne Yes, between 2nd and 3rd turret from stern forward 😉
hahahaha yeeeeeeeeaaaaahhhhhh. your all right to question this ship. its a model I got for free. so its most likely a made up version of a Colorado class?....looked cool enough and gave me some variety. I knew someone would call me out for using ships that weren't at the actual battle....but most of em you can't find models or they are way too expensive to buy. good eyes though. hopefully it didn't ruin the vid.
Una planeacion magnifica la defensa de la isla
Yall notice how this mans last post was 14 years ago?
A Fifty-Star American flag on WW II Navy ships == that must'a been SOME time-warp, eh?
I hate it when that happens.
1:27 anyone know which South Dakota class battleship that may be? All of them except for Alabama were at Iwo Jima. At first I thought it was a North Carolina class, but the BB in the video has only one funnel so must be a SoDak.
here's the funny part! its the Alabama! tried to sneak a lot by you guys...failed. I had to find models that were cheap or free to make this so ended up not being as accurate as I would have liked. thanks for watching!
@@jmort2732 it's absolutely fantastic work, can't wait to see what you come up with in the future! Subscribed and looking forward to it
Uh…A 50-star flag in WW2?
you got me.....hopefully it didn't ruin the vid for ya. thanks for watching
The pork chop
I take it you got the idea from “Flags Of Our Fathers”?
among other movies and books yes.
not IWO but IO.
See you later, alligator !

Apa ada yang videonya om❓️❓️❓️❤❤❤susb❤❤❤ seru gamenya
6:21 I’m not sure about this but I feel like those guns are after ww2 (my own opinion)
ya got me. totally were. tough to find a model that is from a ship actually at the battle and if you do might cost a ton. had to go with what was free and understand people were gonna call me out on it. hopefully that inaccuracy didn't ruin the vid for ya.
@@jmort2732 that’s fine bro the video is so great I just wonder about why are those guns in ww2, but it’s NOT a big problem that ruins the whole video, you did very good job and work very hard to make video for us thanks you.
硫黄島の戦いにMk.42砲塔装備艦が参戦している……?
この後のゲリラ戦で...
I'm not an expert, but I don't think they would be flying airplanes around where shells are flying.
Spotter plane.
at 0.40...incorrect stars and stripes
welp...you got me. hope it didn't ruin the video for ya. thanks for watching
