No way! I just picked one of these up today and was looking for more info about it. I had some trouble trying to load the film as I couldn't turn the wheel, but opening the front cover made me able to advance it. If only this video came out a couple hours sooner haha! I'm glad you brought up the distance related to the focus free lense, I'll use that info to my advantage!
super useful video!! I've been meaning to get started on film cameras and a friend gave me this model a while ago,i tried to find more information about it to learn how to use it but couldn't find much, and this video has really helped me, thank you!✨
Is it just me, or does the back panel open from a different side compared to most cameras? I’m sure most open from the left hand side of the view finder. I’m sure there are many which open from the right hand side, just surprised me 😂 fantastic piece of history there. Nice shots as well 👍🏼👍🏼
It does! All my other cameras open the other way. I wonder why Minolta decided to switch things around? It doesn't make much difference in use, though, to be honest. Thank you for the comment. :)
super cool. btw how come this model is so hard to find in comparison to the KB10 by kodak? also, a follow up question, If the flash doesn't work? does that mean the camera doesn't work? without battery will the camera work btw?
Good question! I have no idea. It seems quite common in South Africa. I guess different cameras were sold in higher numbers in different markets. The camera will still fire without batteries.
Hi! Following the "tutorial" I rewinded the cannister, but it is new. Now I can't get the leader out. Is there any solution for that rookie mistake?😅 Anyways the video was very helpful, thanks.
Hi! I have a question. I put a Kodak porta 400 film (with 36 pictures) in to the camera, but my frame counter window didn't go up til 28. My winder got stuck after the frame counter got to 28, so I rewound the entire film. Do you know if there is something wrong with this kind of film or the camera?
i do have a question though,i just tested my camera with a film and batteries and the flash didn't work, can it still take pictures without using flash or without batteries?

Hi! Yes, the shutter fires without batteries.
May I use color print film instead of black/white negative one?
Yes, definitely!
Thank you :)
do you have to
wind the wheel every time you take a photo?
Yes. That advances the film to the next frame and cocks the shutter.
Would you recommend this camera or the Minolta Big Finder F35/F50?
I think I prefer the Big Finder for it's big finder, believe it or not! But both are fun. Condition and price matter more.
What camera are we getting in your next review mate?
Not a camera - a lens! The Helios 44m6, 58mm f2. Coming soon!
Haha one of Mother Russia’s greatest exports!
