I was never able to READ the books, I got about half way through and couldn’t get any further. Over Christmas, I was able to listen to the first three while I did presents and decorations and stuff. They were… ok. But I think fanfic have ruined the actual books for me. I fell down the HP fanfic rabbit hole on accident and I’m not sorry. So yeah… You should totally read Percy Jackson/ Rick Riordan books. I was side Percy Jackson instead of team Harry Potter
David Eddings wrote a trilogy called The Belgariad. When I finished the third book, I thought "Exactly." Only thing I have ever read that hit me that way. A few years later, he came out with another trilogy about the same people about ten years later having to redo the quest . Then wrote the same story from the grandfather's point of view. Then he wrote the story from the Aunt's point of view. Alcatraz versus the Evil Librarians by Brandon Sanderson, The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan and best of all, Terry Prattchet's Disc World novels are some others to try. If all else fails, try the four books in the Hitchhiker's Guide trilogy by Douglas Adams. Really enjoy your videos. Thank you.
Thank you so much for watching and for the recommendations! I just looked up the Belgariad and it seems super interesting. It's also interesting that the author made sure to say he didn't want the series to ever be made into a movie so it didn't get altered. He seems to have really put a lot of care into the story he created to say something like this. I'll be checking this series out soon and your other suggestions!
I loved the Bartimaeus Trilogy as a kid, Harry Potter was great but Bartimaeus has a special place in my heart, Ranger’s apprentice and my first series A Series of Unfortunate Events were also very good, and I liked Hunger Games as well.
I read it as a teenager and I felt the same. I was never able to enjoy reading after finishing the series. I have read other stuff after that I thought was good like The Hunger Games series but nothing has ever HIT like how HP hit.
That was Game of Thrones for me and that guy hasn't even finished writing the series and probably won't. I read through the whole available book series after watching season 1 on HBO back when it first aired. After that, I read "The Gate Thief" which was actually really really good. But now I just read books for my professional development, Atomic Habits is a definite must read or listen.
I loved game of thrones on HBO (until the last 2 seasons). I've always wanted to read the books, but I've held off committing to them until he completes the series! haha. I'll have to check out the Gate Thief, I've never heard of that one. Thanks for watching dude!
I love to read books and used to read so many before. I got burnt out a couple of years ago and sadly lost the ability to read like I used to do. I read one book in 2023 and listened to three audiobooks cause I really wanted to know the stories but couldn't sit down and actually read.
I have run into a similar problem with the God of War games. I have played through both the 2018 and Ragnarok twice each and felt myself wanting more. Now i'm neck deep in Norse mythology books and lore.
That’s awesome! I actually tried to play god of war after beating Hogwarts Legacy, which may have led to me not wanting to play through it. So when I’m ready, I think God of war will probably be the first game that I pick up to try and play through!
You went from reading Harry Potter, which is super good at action and catching the short attention span of modern audiences, to older books which are not targetted to modern attention spans.
This could definitely be true for the Time Machine, but the Alchemist book came out in 2007. I think I just need a little time before I start a new book or to try out something thats non-fiction to switch things up. Thank you so much for watching!
I had another comment say something similar about greek gods! I def need to try out Percy Jackson and the God of War video game series. Maybe I'll have a percy jackson version of this video in the near future! Thanks for the recommendation!
@@EricJKuhnsif you do check it out, I hope the series can bring you as much joy as it has me. To me it feels timeless, the age of the characters doesn’t matter so much as the story they are telling. It does the same as Harry Potter in the. sense that as the characters age so do their issues and it progressively gets darker in nature. I look forward to hearing your take potentially in the future man!
My children and grandchildren loved Harry, but my husband and I have tried a few times to read the series to understand our families interest. Neither of us could even finish the first book. We found it stupid and unbelievably BORING. Tried again and had the same reaction, dull and we could not care less about Harry.
About tech my canon picks mx922 is printing blank pages and I am only a kid
I'm glad I never read it. But yeah, I've had a reading hangover before. 😁
I highly recommend it! And I still need to get book 2 of your series!

Just looked that up and it seems interesting. Bartimaeus may be my next fiction series to read through!
if you want to extra ruin your reading read Berserk or Goodnight Pun Pun.
I'll check them out! thanks for the recommendations and for watching!

Aw man, what is it a certain book series that burnt you out or you just got burnt out overall?
@@EricJKuhns In my case it was work combined with studies and my then partner's borderline episodes.
But Harry Potter is a series film that has been out for a long time

Red dead redemption series did this to me with gaming
I went to Percy Jackson and then realised Greek gods are better than dark lords, also the places of power series by leo petracci

Hi Eric. Try reading Magician, by Raymond E. Feist.
I’ll check it out, thank you!
You are most welcome. It's the first book in a trilogy. I hope you find some magic in it.

This was a great video
Thanks dude!! 🙏🥹
