She ignited my engine for the first time without a doubt . Creepy large houses became interesting after seeing Screaming cos I’d imagine a Valaria within …
I think Joan Sims was the Queen of the movies - and Sid was the King! Joan was an absolute treasure. RIP sweet precious Joanie. Sleep tight sweetheart.
met fenella at the tyneside cinema in newcastle upon tyne where carry on screaming was being shown back on the big screen , she recited a part of frankenstein with great aplomb i met her she was tiny but adorable
It was Fenella who got it going on for me as a 10 yr old nipper when Screaming was shown one night on British tv in the early 1970s. Posh Brunette ,Mystical, Vampish Girls were my one ambition beyond being a rock musician 🙄😁👍
Norman hudis was NOT the man who made carry ons.. TALBOT ROTHWELL WAS Mr. Carry on, along with Gerald and Peter of course.. These 3 were carry on.. But TALBOT was responsible for the longivity of the series and the true popularity.. Without him it died and within 2 movies.. No one could blend all the personalitys like Talbot and he was a phenomenal writer... Credit where its due now.
Absolutely correct. Norman Hudis was great, but Talbot Rothwell took the Carry Ons to a new level. Carry On Cabby was the first true classic of the series, and what a phenomenal way for Rothwell to make his screenplay debut. So many people were responsible for the success of the series, but the genius of Talbot Rothwell was the greatest single reason.
I love the Carry On films and have enjoyed watching them all. Columbus wasn't all that popular but it was still a better effort than England and Emmannuelle. An attempt was made in the early mid 2000s to revive the Carry On films but it never happened due to financial reasons and then Peter Rogers died in 2009. It would have been interesting to see what the Carry On London film would have been like, but we'll never know now.
Barbara's story about first day on carry on doesn't include her much repeated line... Dont have a go at me with fenella fieldings fanny hair on ya mush Haha... Wonder why that was cleaned up?? Haha.
Let's have it right, Windsor spent the last 40 years of her life telling that story and the bikini flying off one..... Surely she must have had a few more anecdotes after all those films?
What a soothingly beautiful voice Fenella Fielding has!!
Yes, she has - low, gentle and comforting. I really liked Fenella.

As a kid I lived in Australia from '65-'73..my Dad would take us to see the Carry on movies. Very fond childhood memories.
Lucky you! I only managed to see Columbus in the cinema, which was... fine.
We still adore the Carry On gang!
Indubitably
Unforgettable carry ons ♥️🎥♥️
I can't believe there is now a warning before any of the carry on films start, they are the most least offensive films out there, long live carry on
I love that the end of Babs’s anecdote about falling out with Ken on the set of Spying is cut short to save Fenella’s blushes!
Rightly so!! Fenella was a lady and not some filthy scrubber who'd been passed around the entire East End before she was 30!

*"minge hair", but yeah :)
It was probably cleaned up at Fenella's request.
