    I'm glad I came across this video b/c I ran a similar test with my beretta a300 20g with a UFO choke and had poor results with Win LB. I shot low and left but I had better results with BossTom. Not idea results but better than the Win LB. I guess that's why we pattern test. I appreciate the videos... keep up the great work!

    Sadly my .410 with TSS shoots a better pattern at 40 than LBXR in my 12 gauge! I think you are correct that it has gone downhill.

    • @BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA
      @BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA  Рік тому +2

      A good 410 setup at 40 generally will beat or compete with any 12 gauge lead pattern, people hate hearing that but it’s true

    Just made a custom 12 gauge 3", 2oz lead load for a guy... #4 nickel plated lead... shot it at 40. It looked pretty good.
    I have #6 nickel plated. I bet we could make a 20 gauge lead load better than that.

    I HAD A MOSSBERG A 300 WITH A CARSON'S 568 LONG BEARD CHOKE AND LONG BEARD 6'S SHOT LIGHTS OUT A 40 YDS. YOU RIGHT THOSE PATTERNS WERE JUNK SHOULD HAVE SHOT THE TIGHTWAD OR A CARLSON'S 568 FOR VERIFICATION!!!

    • @DEVILDOG1964

      YES IT DOES BECAUSE YOU ALREADY HAD VARIBILES THE GUNS WERE DIFFERENT, THE CHOKES WERE DIFFERENT. YOU WOULD USE THE PROVEN TIGHTWAD TO TRY SHOW IF IT WAS THE AMMO, IN SCIENTIFIC TESTING METHODS THE TIGHTWAD WOULD BE CALLED THE CONTROL. WATCH PROJECT FARM NOT ABOUT GUNS BUT HE'S THE BEST ON UA-cam FOR TESTING ANYTHING. I STILL APPRECIATE YOUR WORK..@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA

      @@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA REALLY WITH MOST TESTS THERE'S ALWAYS A STANDARD IT'S CALLED A CONTROL. IS IT THE CHOKES IC OR THE SHELLS YOU DON'T KNOW? IF YOU HAD SHOT THE CARLSON'S LB CHOKE YOU WOULD KNOW THAT'S MY POINT. IT MAKES SENSE.

    Really hoping this isn't the new norm for long beard. It definitely used to be good stuff. These look like what the old stuff would throw at 50... from stock turkey chokes.

    Yup that’s kinda what I expected. I’m sure it would be better with 6s but it would have to be way better than that. I tried Double X and Remington Nitro 5s and both were better than that with my Stoeger and stock choke

    The last lead test I did was with an Indian Creek 665 in 12ga, and that produced similar results to what you just did with lbxr. The same combo did fine with tss.

    • @BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA
      @BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA  Рік тому +2

      Hell ya! And I’d assume so .665 with tss is just mean, 12 gauges are kinda bland because a .665 with tss is going to kill em every time with any decent tss load
      That’s why we like all the other gauges, it’s just more fun ahahah

  • @johnolson8899
    @johnolson8899 Рік тому

    Agreed. That’s rough. I was putting my money on 562 and it was the better pattern but still atrocious. Save up the money and buy tss. There’s no sense in wounding a turkey and that’s what those patterns are doing. Great video guys looking forward to seeing more lead for comparison 🇺🇸

    25 to 30 yds few years back I was getting similar test results out of lead Mossberg 500 26in barrel 20 gauge. Tss took it easly to 40yds. I had bunch different chokes and a bunch of different manufacturers turkey loads of most around 1 1/4 oz. #5 or #6 When I went TSS that was a game changer for me. I won't hunt Turkey With anything but TSS now. 🦃🦃🦃

    I've never got a good pattern with the LBXR 20ga. 5s and 6s both are very similar to these patterns. Winchester XX put up decent patterns for me with a couple different chokes. That's the best lead load I've found for the 20.

    I've killed more birds with XX and LBXR, than anything, though I've been shooting and reloading tss for a few years now. That said, LBXR is not even close to what it originally was. My .410 shoots much better than those patterns, even with some #7.5 loads we made up, just for the heck of it. A few years ago, my old 1300 12ga would put up around 230-240 with lbxr #6, and about 180-200 with #5 (10" circle). Now, with the newer loads of lbxr, the best I could get was around 130ish with #6. Damn cheap game loads shot just as well. Winchester should be ashamed.
