I'm another old man and I accidentally locked my thermostat and I went into a total panic also and I googled found this video and thank God cuz I thought I was going to have to call an HV AC guy that was going to charge me a fortune and then just doing something stupid like this. Thanks for your video. I had a service rep come out and check my furnace. I live in a condo so it’s a yearly maintenance agreement that unit owners must do. I won’t mention the company. I did not trust this guy at all. He fiddled around and came back to me saying the capacitor is close to being shot. I had him replace it which cost $220.00. It took him all of about 30 seconds to do. He tried to get me to purchase a seperate 2 year maintenance agreement after he was done. I said no. He left and said the thermostat was off and I would need to turn it on. Why the hell didn’t he turn it on? It was on when he got there. Anyhow lo and behold, I went to turn it on and he had locked the thermostat. I called him but he never picked up. To top it all off, he didn’t even check the air filter. Thank goodness for your video. This service guy asks me to give him a 5 star review. Ya sure thing! What a slime ball.

This tutorial was very helpful! When the calm, quiet and deliberate manager. gave the floor to the lead tech, the tech did a much better job, with his verbal pacing. OK guys, if the 1234 does not work, remove the thermostat from the wall and look on the back for a date code, for example mine was 2011, now add your date code and 1234 together and that total will unlock it.
